BMF promotes Nathan Lieb and Allison Gill to partner
Bober Markey Fedorovich (BMF), a CPA and advisory firm, has named Nathan Lieb and Allison Gill as newest partners, with the promotions set to take effect on 1 July 2025. Both Lieb and Gill have made significant contributions to their respective practices within the firm. Nathan Lieb's journey at BMF began as an intern in 2012, and over the years, he is stated to have risen to become a leader within the firm's Tax Practice. His specialisation in ASC 740 tax provision work has positioned him as a trusted advisor to various multi-jurisdictional companies, including public and private C-corporations, S-corporations, limited liability companies, and partnerships. Lieb is also actively involved in the community. He is a member of The University of Akron's Accountancy Advisory and MTax Governance boards, contributing to the development of future accounting professionals. He has served as the treasurer for the Akron Torchbearers and led BMF's annual Harvest for Hunger campaign. BMF partner and executive committee member Theodore A. Wagner said: 'Nathan has been a key driver of the firm's ASC 740 practice growth. We're excited to see him take over leadership of this practice area, which helps us expand our reach beyond Northeast Ohio.' Allison Gill joined the firm in 2020 and has established herself within the Audit Practice. With more than 15 years experience, Gill leads some of the firm's complex audit engagements, working with international and domestic companies across various industries such as aerospace, defence, diversified products, manufacturing, and automotive. Gill's leadership extends beyond her audit duties, as she chairs the firm's Employee Enrichment and Engagement Committee (e3), promoting a positive workplace culture and encouraging community involvement. BMF partner Eric D. German said: 'Allison's promotion reflects not only her exceptional technical expertise and leadership but also her unwavering commitment to mentoring others and driving quality and innovation across the firm.' Earlier, in March 2025, BMF promoted Kristian Barr and Michael Bigler from senior managers to directors in the Assurance and Advisory Department of its Northeast Ohio team. Dustin Poirier rallies behind Justin Gaethje's title-shot call after UFC 317
Dustin Poirier is in agreement with Justin Gaethje on the next UFC lightweight title shot. Gaethje is eyeing the winner of vacant lightweight title fight between Ilia Topuria (16-0 MMA, 8-0 UFC) and Charles Oliveira (35-10 MMA, 23-10 UFC), which headlines Saturday's UFC 317 (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) event at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Gaethje (26-5 MMA, 9-5 UFC) was upset that Oliveira got the vacant title fight over him, and expressed his frustration towards the UFC. He said it's title fight or bust, and Poirier isn't against that option. "I think Paddy's getting closer, but I wouldn't think they would give him a shot right now," Poirier told MMA Junkie. "He did just beat (Michael) Chandler, maybe one more big win and he's knocking on the door. Obviously with Arman (Tsarukyan), UFC reaching out to him and putting him as the backup, they have still high hopes for him getting in there for the title. But to me personally, I would pick Gaethje." Gaethje's discontent comes from the fact that he's done the UFC a solid on several occasions. Prior to UFC 300, he was in line for a title shot after knocking out Poirier to claim the BMF belt at UFC 291. However, he agreed to defend his BMF title against Max Holloway in the UFC 300 main event, and wound up getting knocked out. He was then scheduled to face Dan Hooker at UFC 313 in March, but Hooker withdrew just weeks before the fight. Gaethje accepted short-notice replacement Rafael Fiziev, an opponent he already faced and beat before at UFC 286. Gaethje won the rematch by unanimous decision. "I mean a guy who's done everything he's done with the company, and put on the shows, it's must-watch TV every time he's out there," Poirier said of Gaethje. "And he just beat another high-ranked guy, and he's coming towards – he said it, the end of his career. If he only has a few left, he's still fighting the best guys, put him in there and see if he could make that dream a reality, and the division keeps moving forward." To hear more from Poirier, check out his complete appearance on "The Bohnfire" podcast with MMA Junkie senior reporter Mike Bohn above.

Big men headed to 'Big Easy': Lukasz Brzeski vs. Ryan Spann set for UFC 318 in New Orleans
The UFC's return to "The Big Easy" continues to build with a little lagniappe at heavyweight. A bout between big men Lukasz Brzeski (9-6-1 MMA, 1-5 UFC) and Ryan Spann (22-11 MMA, 8-6 UFC) has been added to UFC 318 next month. A person with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the fight to MMA Junkie, but asked to remain anonymous because the UFC has not yet made a formal announcement of the fight. UFC 318 takes place July 19 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The card features a trilogy bout between the retiring local Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway for the BMF title. Spann will try to bounce back from a second-round TKO loss to Waldo Cortes-Acosta in March. That setback was his fourth in five fights, but also his first at heavyweight after years at 205 pounds. His final bout at light heavyweight, though, was a bonus-winning submission of Ovince St. Preux at UFC 307. Brzeski has a recent TKO loss to Cortes-Acosta on his resume, too. But after that 2023 setback, he bounced back with a win over Valter Walker – which stands as his only win in the UFC. The 33-year-old Polish fighter got into the UFC through a DWCS win that was flipped to a no contest for a failed drug test, and once in, he's struggled with losses in five of six fights. With the addition, the UFC 318 lineup now includes:

Kevin Holland's crazy pace continues with Daniel Rodriguez booking at UFC 318
Kevin Holland said he wanted to stay busy this year, and he'll do just that. Holland (28-13 MMA, 15-10 UFC) has been booked for a welterweight fight against Daniel Rodriguez (19-5 MMA, 9-4 UFC) next month at UFC 318, which takes place July 19 at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. The card features a trilogy bout between the retiring local Dustin Poirier and Max Holloway for the BMF title. MMA Junkie confirmed the matchup with a person with knowledge of the fight, and Holland confirmed the booking on social media. The UFC has not yet made a formal announcement of the bout, which first surfaced on social media. The two were booked to fight at UFC 279 nearly three years ago, but a weigh-in day abnormality pushed Holland into a new fight with Khamzat Chimaev, which he lost, and Rodriguez into a new fight with Jingliang Li, which he won. Holland has fought three times already this calendar year. In the UFC's first event of 2025, he was submitted by promotional newcomer Reinier de Ridder, a former two-division ONE Championship titleholder. But in March, he rebounded with a bonus-winning decision over Gunnar Nelson, and earlier this month he submitted Vicente Luque at UFC 316 for a second straight bonus. Rodriguez has bounced back from a rough patch of three straight losses to Neil Magny, Ian Machado Garry and Kelvin Gastelium with a decision win over Alex Morono this past fall and a third-round knockout of Santiago Ponzinibbio in May. That was his first stoppage win in nearly four years. With the addition, the UFC 318 lineup now includes:
