Watch: Dad Gifts Son Mini Dirt Bike On His Birthday, Rides It With Him
Last Updated: A little boy was introduced to an unforgettable birthday gift. An Indian kid enjoyed an unforgettable birthday surprise after his father gifted him every young boy's dream: a mini dirt bike. In a heartwarming video that caught the internet's attention, a father is seen receiving his little one from the autorickshaw and unveiling a special mini dirt bike to him. Watching motorcycles rush past is a source of great joy and thrill for kids, especially boys. This kid's happiness knew no bounds upon being gifted a little bike of his own. The video has the kid's mom and dad waiting for him to come home, whose parking area has a BMW 3 series parked in the porch and the kid's two-wheeler. The boy comes home from kindergarten in his casual clothes, not a uniform, as kids are allowed to wear special clothes on their birthdays by schools. The boy is welcomed with love and warmth by the father, who tells him to check what's hidden under the blue cover. However, as the excited child takes it off, his smile immediately fades away, realising he has been pranked by the couple that had kept his old bicycle underneath. The kid wasn't pleased and expressed his displeasure to his father while his mother laughed from a corner. However, it was a ploy to cover the actual surprise of the day. The parents later took the boy inside and unveiled his mini dirt bike. The little kid initially sees another tiny two-wheeler parked inside. The boy, perplexed, offers a sheepish smile as he goes towards the real surprise and uncovers the two-wheeler to find that he has been gifted a small dirt bike to ride at home and with friends. The wholesome video then cuts to the next few shots, where the boy is seen wearing his motorcycle helmet and learning how to ride the mini bike gifted by his parents on what turned into a special and memorable birthday for him. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Teacher caught 'stumbling' as she put kids in BMW keeps licence 'with 16 points'
Katherine Campbell was allowed to drive with 16 points on her licence after a judge found she would have faced 'exceptional hardship' if unable to drive to her job A teacher who was caught "stumbling" as she put children into a BMW while three times over the drink-driving limit has been allowed to keep her licence thanks to an "exceptional hardship" ruling. Katherine Campbell was reported to police by a passerby who watched her stumble while putting the youngsters into her BMW 3 series on May 2. The 38-year-old, who works as a teacher at the Alsager School near Crewe, Cheshire, was found to be more than three times the drink driving limit by officers who arrived to administer a breath test, a court heard. The teacher, who denies planning to drive the car, has been allowed to keep her licence after magistrates found restricting her driving could cause her to lose her job. South Cheshire Magistrates Court heard a passerby called 999 after spotting Campbell as she visited her parents' house in the Presbury area of Cheshire to feed some cats. Annika Livermore, prosecuting, said police received a call stating there was a "black BMW with a female driver who appeared to be intoxicated with two children in the car". The prosecutor added that, when police arrived, they found Campbell "unsteady on her feet", speaking with slurred speech, and smelling of alcohol. She continued: "The member of the public approached the female and took the car key from her, preventing her from driving the vehicle. A passerby took the children into a nearby house. 'Police who attended said the defendant was heavily intoxicated. Her speech was slurred, she was unsteady on her feet, and her eyes were glazed. There was a strong smell of intoxicants." She added the children's car seats were not clipped in. A roadside breath test revealed the teacher had 117 micrograms of alcohol in 100 milliltres of breath, above the legal limit of 35. Further, evidential readings taken at a police station showed 107 and 97. The court also heard that Campbell had a previous speeding offence on her record, and had six points on her licence for failing to give information about a driver. Her lawyer, John Wright, said during mitigation that his client had seen "some friends who are neighbours" and "drank two or three gin and soda waters". He added: "She concedes they were home measures, perhaps far larger than usual. He said while she was "fully aware she had too much to drink" she had never intended to drive. Mr Wright said: "It was the passerby's assumption there was an intention to drive, although there never was. When the police arrived, she accepted having had a drink, but she has not had a drink since. "She says it is just not worth it. She does not have an issue with alcohol.'' The lawyer said she could lose her job if she gave up her licence, with her current 40-minute car journey to school increased to "two trains, two buses". Campbell, from Macclesfield, admitted to being drunk in charge of a motor vehicle and two charges of being drunk and in charge of a child. She was allowed to keep her licence by chair of the bench Susan Taylor, who handed her a 12-month community order with requirements that she attends 20 days of rehabilitation with the probation service. She must also pay £199 in costs and a surcharge. Ms Taylor said the court had accepted the "case of exceptional hardship", and allowed her to keep her licence so she could continue working. But she warned Campbell: "Please be mindful that you are driving around with 16 points on your licence. "If you come before the court again for any offence to do with driving, you will get a lengthy ban, and I mean lengthy. Please do not be back in here again.'

Longford attempted murder leaves 'fear within the community' almost one year on
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses as they continue to investigate an attempted murder in Longford almost one year ago that resulted in a pensioner being hospitalised. At around 7.45pm on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, a Navy Blue BMW 3 series car, with NI/GB registration plates, entered the Springlawn Estate in Longford town. The car drove around a green area, before stopping outside the victim's house, while local children were playing. As the BMW car stopped a male suspect carrying a sawn-off shotgun got out of the front passenger seat and approached the driveway of the house. Almost simultaneously a rear-seat passenger who had stepped out of the car began to hold up a mobile phone as if recording the incident. After the incident both suspects then returned to the car and it drove away at speed. The victim, a 74-year-old man, received hospital treatment for his injuries and is continuing his recovery. Gardaí said the car is seen on CCTV on Ballinalee Road shortly before entering the Spring Lawn estate. A few minutes after the incident it again travelled along the Ballinalee Road as it left the Springlawn area. It then turned left onto the Dublin Road, continuing through the roundabout onto the N4 in the Dublin direction. After around 1.5km it is known to have turned right at Fallon's Hardware, stopping in the laneway of a nearby farm. Here, the suspects set the car on fire, which was later recovered by Gardaí, totally destroyed. Gardaí are continuing to appeal for witnesses, as they stress that they understand there has been "fear within the community" and want to "reassure" the public they are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice. A Garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí want to emphasise to the community of Longford that every resource has been deployed to investigate this incident and prevent any reoccurrence of a similar crime taking place. "While acknowledging that there has been fear within the community they want to reassure them of their determination to bring those involved before the courts." Gardaí are now asking the public:

Gardai on high alert over fears of retaliation attacks after fatal hit and run
Gardaí are on high alert amid fears of retaliation attacks following a targeted hit and run which claimed the life of a man in his 30s. Sources say the victim, named locally as Mircea Rostas, was targeted in a feud-related incident in Balbriggan, north county Dublin, among members of the Roma community which has been simmering for several weeks. On Monday night, that feud exploded with the loss of Mr Rostas' life, when he was mowed down by a vehicle in a 'targeted' hit-and-run incident on Railway Street at around 9pm. That vehicle failed to remain at the scene. Shortly afterwards, in a second incident involving three cars, a black BMW 3 series was rammed outside Balbriggan Garda Station on Drogheda Street. On Monday night, as local people gathered around the man's body shortly after the horror incident, which happened at around 9pm, one distraught youth, who was with Mr Rostas, sobbed: 'He's not breathing' and 'I had beef with them for ages' in relation to the alleged suspects. The chief suspect, a man in his 40s, has been identified by Gardaí and it is understood he knew his victim well. In a statement on Tuesday evening, Gardaí confirmed that a man in his 40s had been arrested in connection with the incident. The man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda Station in North Dublin. The Garda Public Order unit was deployed as tensions mounted in the seaside town shortly after both incidents. Two crime scenes were declared and remained sealed off in the town until Tuesday afternoon. Mr Rostas' body remained at the cordoned-off scene under a blue tent on Railway Street until it was removed by ambulance just before midday on Tuesday. A post-mortem examination has been completed by the State pathologist, the results of which are not being released for operational reasons. At the second crime scene, outside Balbriggan Garda Station, three cars were removed and technical examinations of the scene took place before the cordon was removed on Tuesday afternoon and the road reopened for traffic. Sources now say there are fears of retaliation attacks. 'Gardaí are on high alert in the town now over fears of retaliation attacks,' a source told the Irish Mirror. Local councillor Tony Murphy told the Irish Mirror it was "horrendous" news for the family of Mr Rostas. "It's absolutely devastating for Balbriggan," said Cllr Murphy. "And equally, I must say, it must be horrendous for the family to wake up to this news on Tuesday morning. "And I know speculation is out there as to what happened, but I have 100 per cent confidence in the Gardaí, and they will get to the bottom of this, and they will take the appropriate action. "And I'd like to say to the people, Balbriggan is generally a safe town and not to be too concerned. "We have a good vigilant Garda force in the town, so there wouldn't be too much to be to be concerned about, although this is going to rock Balbriggan, that's for sure." Horrified locals who gathered on Drogheda Street on Tuesday morning said they were "absolutely shocked" over what happened. 'It's absolutely shocking,' one local told the Irish Mirror. 'I only heard about it all this morning when I saw news online. It's terrible.' 'We heard all the sirens on Monday night but didn't know what was happening,' another local said. 'It's scary, it really is. And really sad that his body remained at the scene overnight. God love his poor family. He is someone's child,' another local said. Investigating Gardaí are appealing to the public for any witnesses to the incident to come forward. They are particularly interested in the movements of a black saloon car observed in the area at the time, which was later abandoned following a collision on Drogheda Street, Balbriggan, with a second saloon car shortly after the fatal incident. Any road users or pedestrians who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time are asked to make it available to Gardaí. Anyone with information is asked to contact Balbriggan Garda Station on 01 666 4500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
