Glamour meets purpose — Mzansi stars make a statement at the 2025 Celebrity Drive
The 2025 edition of Celebrity Drive delivered a weekend of unforgettable experience under the theme 'Celebrating Local Talent', attracting a dazzling line-up of celebrities.
The star-studded event was attended by singer Kelly Khumalo, Kat Sinivasan, Tansey Coetzee, Omuhle Gela, Simz Ngema, Sonia Mbele, Simphiwe Dana, Sophie Ndaba and designer Gert-Johan Coetzee.
The stars were chauffeured from Gauteng to Sun City in luxury vehicles provided by BMW Menlyn and arrived to a night of opulence.
They arrived on the red carpet to a gala dinner which became a spectacle of art and fashion, as Gert-Johan unveiled his latest Fashion Week collection in a dazzling runway show.
The trip was not just about having a luxurious experience but also about purpose.
The celebrities engaged in a charity drive at an HIV care home in Rustenburg, Esibayeni, where they donated school shoes and sanitary pads with the help of McDonald's and the Mmakola Foundation where celebrities pledged personal support, reinforcing that glamour means little without impact.
'Being part of Celebrity Drive was more than just a luxury experience — it was purposeful. Visiting the HIV home and pledging sanitary pads and school shoes reminded me that real impact happens when visibility meets vulnerability. I left inspired to do more,' Sophie said.
'Celebrity Drive was unforgettable — from the elegance of the drive to the heartwarming moments at the charity home. Giving back, especially to young girls in need of basic dignity items such as sanitary pads and school shoes, was deeply moving. What made it more special is I'm from the North West and my children attended school there, so it's a place close to my heart. With many of the projects I'm involved in, I feel the need to pledge and give back to the community that raised me,' Sonia said.
