HC stays arrest of Yash Dayalin ‘sexual exploitation' case
Prayagraj: The Allahabad high court on Tuesday stayed the arrest of cricketer Yash Dayal in connection with an FIR lodged against him in Ghaziabad for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman from the NCR for five years. Hearing a writ petition filed by Dayal, a division bench comprising Justice Siddhartha Varma and Justice Anil Kumar-X also directed the state counsel to file a counter affidavit (reply) in the case. Directing that no coercive action be taken against Dayal till the next hearing, the court also issued a notice to the complainant woman asking her to file a counter affidavit. Dayal had filed a writ petition seeking a stay on his arrest and quashing of the FIR registered against him under BNS 69 (sexual intercourse through deceitful means). During the court proceedings, senior advocate GS Chaturvedi, assisted by Gaurav Tripathi, argued in court that it's implausible for the petitioner to have continuously deceived the woman over a five-year period. According to the case, the woman claimed that Dayal sexually exploited her under the pretence of marriage. She had initially filed a complaint with the CM office's portal on June 21, 2025. On June 14, she had sought help from the Women's Helpline 181, but claimed no action was taken by the police. She provided the authorities with screenshots, chats and video call records as evidence. The Ghaziabad police has recorded the woman's statement, but Dayal is yet to give his statement. The woman claimed that she first met Dayal in 2019 through social media, leading to their conversations on social media. She alleged that Dayal promised to marry her, and they maintained a physical relationship. According to her, Dayal took her to various locations, including Bengaluru, Delhi and Prayagraj, during their relationship. Whenever she insisted on marriage, he reportedly asked her to wait until he got settled in his career. According to the complainant, Dayal kept postponing her proposal to marry and eventually, she came to know Dayal was involved with some other women as well.
