1st merit list for UG courses of JNPG, Shia PG College out
Lucknow: Shri Jai Narain Misra Postgraduate (JNPG) College and Shia PG College on Friday released their first merit lists for admission to UG programmes for the academic session 2025–26. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "The first merit list for BA, BCom, BSc (Maths), BSc (Bio), BSc (Statistics) and BSc (Computer Science) has been released on the college website said JNPG College principal Vinod Chandra. Admissions for shortlisted candidates will begin on July 19 and continue on all working days from 10 am to 3 pm. The merit list will remain valid till July 22, after which a second merit list (if required) will be published. The candidates must report to their respective faculties Saturday with the filled application form, educational documents, caste certificate, original character certificate, Aadhaar card, documents related to weightage, LURN photocopy, and two sets of photocopies of all required documents for counselling and fee payment. The principal also notified that registration dates for LLB and postgraduate courses have been extended till July 25, and for BCA, BCom. (Hons), BBA (IB), and BPEd till July 22. Shia PG College has released its first selected and waiting lists for BA, BSc (Biology), BCom (Regular & Self-Financed), and BBA. Lists are available on and said Mirza Mohammad Abu Tayyab, director, Admission Committee. Selected candidates for BA, BSc (Bio), and BCom can pay fees online via admission portal.

2 nat'l level players, 2 others arrested for robbing bizman
1 2 Kanpur: In a significant development, police arrested four persons, including two national-level athletes—a hockey player and a handball player—for robbing a businessman Sanet Tripathi. These sports persons, who had participated in collegiate national championships, were drawn to unlawful activities due to their aspirations for a luxurious life and relationships. Along with their accomplices, they targeted a businessman from Shivli in Raikepur. Police on Sunday captured Dinesh Kumar alias Situ Yadav, Abhishek Kumar, Shreyansh Singh from Fatehpur, and Utkarsh from Raebareli. Utkarsh, who plays hockey, is studying BPEd, while Shreyansh, a handball player, is pursuing BPS. Sanket Tripathi, a resident of Shivli, Kanpur Dehat, works in gift packing. On July 11, at 2:30 am near Rawatpur, while returning from Delhi with merchandise, the businessman was approached by four individuals in a white vehicle offering transport to Shivli. Near Raikepur outpost, they assaulted him, stole his belongings, money, mobile phone, and transferred Rs 15,000 via UPI. The officials seized the vehicle used and recovered the stolen money. Dinesh had charges of robbery, kidnapping, and attempted murder, while Shreyansh has one prior case. The court remanded all the accused to judicial custody. Investigations showed that the accused carefully orchestrated their crimes. The athletes, despite having promising futures, were enticed by quick financial gains. They resided in Gooba Garden for three months, monitoring local businessmen's routines. During questioning, they admitted to specifically targeting solitary travellers at night. The investigating officer revealed that the group would offer rides to unsuspecting individuals before robbing them in secluded areas. They utilised multiple UPI accounts for transferring money from victims' phones to avoid detection. Investigations also revealed that Dinesh Kumar, who headed the group, influenced the athletes by displaying an opulent lifestyle. He had five previous criminal cases across various districts. The police are investigating potential links to other similar robberies in the area. Sanket Tripathi positively identified all four suspects during the investigation. His mobile phone and other items were retrieved from their Gooba Garden flat. Police have increased patrols in the vicinity to deter such incidents.

2 PTIs, aide held for using fake degrees to get govt jobs
Jaipur: Banswara police arrested three men Friday, including two govt physical training instructors (PTIs), in connection with a fake degree racket. Two of the accused, Manish Kumar and Kamlesh Patidar, secured govt jobs as PTIs using forged degrees, while the third, Pramod Kumar, allegedly helped arrange the fake certificates. The case came to light after the police launched an investigation into complaints of fake degrees being used. A senior police officer was tasked with investigating the matter. He filed a report pointing to irregularities in PTI recruitment in 2018 and 2022. SP Banswara, Harish Agarwalla, said all three were arrested after verification confirmed that the degrees were fake. Manish Kumar, a resident of Partapur in Banswara, submitted a forged BPEd (Bachelor of Physical Education) degree allegedly issued by Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur, in Chhattisgarh in 2012 to apply for the PTI recruitment exam. He passed the exam conducted by the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board and was appointed as a PTI at Govt Upper Primary School, Napla, in Chhoti Sarwan Panchayat Samiti in the district. Kamlesh Patidar, from Bodia village under Garhi Police Station, also used a fake 2013 degree from the same university to apply in the 2018 recruitment. He was selected and posted as a PTI at Govt Upper Primary School, Garadiya, in the Sajjangarh Panchayat Samiti area. During interrogation, both Manish and Kamlesh admitted they obtained the fake degrees through known contacts. One of those contacts was identified as Pramod Kumar Modi, 36, a resident of Gadhi. Pramod did not apply for a govt job himself but confessed to helping arrange the fake BPEd degrees for others through a known source. Verification by Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University confirmed that the degrees submitted by Manish and Kamlesh were not issued by the university and did not match official records. All three accused were arrested and are currently being interrogated further.
