Glenn Irwin's team offers new update on rider's health after horror crash at Snetterton
Irwin came off on Saturday morning and suffered fractures to his pelvis and hip. He narrowly avoided being struck by his brother Andrew and Scottish rider Rory Skinner, who did not see him lying at the side of the track amidst a cloud of dust. The Carrickfergus man was taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital and will miss the next round at Knockhill in Scotland. In a statement, the Hager PBM Ducati team confirmed a replacement rider is being sought to fill in for Irwin. 'After lengthy discussions with his medical team, Glenn is scheduled to undergo surgery on his sacrum (pelvic region) this Thursday morning,' the statement read. 'We understand the serious nature of this injury and our heartfelt thoughts and best wishes are with Glenn during this difficult time. 'Following the procedure, we'll be focusing on his recovery with an intensive rehabilitation plan. Until that gets underway, it's not possible to predict a timeline for his recovery and his return to the Hager PBM Ducati team and the British Superbike Championship. 'We know Glenn will be greatly missed from the BSB grid, and we're truly grateful for the overwhelming support and kind messages we've received. 'The understanding from the sponsors and the series organising at this difficult time is also most appreciated, and the team is working hard on finding a suitable stand-in rider with the aim of being back on track at Knockhill.' Irwin was only 12 points behind England's Bradley Ray before the Snetterton round but said his championship hopes had been 'ruined' by the crash. Ray claimed a second successive BSB treble on the Raceways Yamaha at Snetterton to make it seven victories from eight races so far in 2025. The 28-year-old holds a 30-point advantage at the top of the standings over reigning champion Kyle Ryde. In a video message posted to social media from his hospital bed on Saturday night, Irwin said his ambition of winning the BSB title remained unaltered. 'I apologise to the team because we've ruined our championship challenge for sure, we will be missing for a little while,' he said. 'But, in true 'Glenn' spirit, we're resilient, we're determined, we will be back, and the goal is what the goal has always been, and that's to lift the British Superbike Championship.'

Global Class, Local Legacy
TDT | Manama BSB Marks 30 Years with the Graduation of a Truly International Cohort They crossed the stage in caps and gowns, but what they carried with them was a legacy three decades in the making. The British School of Bahrain (BSB) celebrated the graduation of 134 students on Friday in a ceremony that honoured not only academic excellence, but also 30 years of shaping globally minded leaders rooted in Bahraini values. Held at Exhibition World Bahrain, the event was attended by H.E. Dr Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education, and marked a significant milestone for a school that has become one of the Kingdom's most respected international institutions. A World-Class Cohort With students representing over 94 nationalities and heading to leading universities in the UK, USA, Europe, and the Middle East, the ceremony underscored both the diversity and the future-forward outlook of Bahrain's evolving education landscape. Executive Headteacher Liz Stanley praised the Class of 2025 as a true reflection of BSB's ethos: 'This graduating class truly represents the heart of what our school stands for – determination, innovation, and humanity,' she said. 'They leave us not only with qualifications but with a set of values and a vision that will empower them to lead, succeed, and make a difference in the world.' Among the graduates were two recipients of the Crown Prince International Scholarship Programme (CPISP) and several students awarded prestigious scholarships for higher education abroad. In her speech, graduate Bedoor Ahmed echoed the school's transformative mission: 'We leave as individuals shaped by incredible teachers, lifelong friendships, and an education that taught us not just what to think, but how to think.' 30 Years of Excellence The celebration also marked BSB's 30th anniversary —a testament to the school's enduring commitment to excellence. Over the years, BSB has cultivated a nurturing, inclusive environment that now serves nearly 100 nationalities and delivers a curriculum focused on character, creativity, and critical thinking. A proud member of the Inspired Education Group, which operates more than 119 schools globally, BSB follows a Three Pillars approach —balancing academics, creative arts, and sports. The model has yielded strong results, with over 90% of Inspired graduates gaining admission to their first-choice universities. Looking Ahead As the Class of 2025 embarks on new journeys, they do so with more than just diplomas. They carry the legacy of a school that for 30 years has prepared students to lead with knowledge, compassion, and a uniquely Bahraini global perspective. 'BSB has always believed in the power of education to change lives,' said Stanley. 'That power lies in staying rooted in our values while embracing a world of possibilities.'

Glenn Irwin: My title hopes are ruined but I'm just thankful horror Snetterton crash wasn't worse
Irwin had set a fast time in the third and final free practice time in the morning session when he was caught out by a high-side as he exited the Esses section of the Norfolk track. He landed heavily on his right-hand side and was almost struck by his brother Andrew and Rory Skinner, who did not see the stricken Irwin lying on the side of the track because of a cloud of dust kicked up as a result of the incident. It was a close call for the Carrickfergus man, who is being treated for hip and pelvis fractures in Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. Irwin is facing a spell on the sidelines and after missing all three races at Snetterton, the 35-year-old has dropped to fourth in the championship, 66 points behind former champion Bradley Ray, who looks unstoppable on the Raceways Yamaha after sealing a second consecutive treble. Ray has won seven of the eight races so far in 2025 and the English rider made history on Sunday, becoming the first rider to secure back-to-back BSB hat-tricks. Irwin was only 12 points behind Ray going into the weekend but with his hopes of winning the title for the first time in tatters, he is focused on his recovery and says he has not given up on his dream of one day winning the coveted British crown. In a video posted to social media from his hospital bed, Irwin provided an update on his injuries and said he was thankful he wasn't more seriously hurt. 'I've smashed my sacrum, it's in lots of pieces but they're all quite close together so it might not need surgery, but with a view to returning to racing sometimes we get treated (differently) so maybe we have a surgery,' Irwin said. 'I have another fracture in my pelvis, where the hip socket goes into – that's the only injuries I have. 'I'm very grateful; Andrew (Irwin) was very close to me, also Rory (Skinner); when I crashed, the guys couldn't see me with the cloud of dust and I'm thankful because it could've been so much worse.' The two-time BSB championship runner-up apologised to his team but said he was determined to realise his long-term goal. 'I apologise to the team because we've ruined our championship challenge for sure, we will be missing for a little while,' he said. 'But, in true 'Glenn' spirit, we're resilient, we're determined, we will be back, and the goal is what the goal has always been, and that's to lift the British Superbike Championship.' Ray followed up his victory in Saturday's opening race with another stylish success in the Sprint race yesterday by almost four seconds from Rory Skinner (Cheshire Mouldings Ducati) with Honda's Tommy Bridewell in third. Ray was pushed harder by reigning champion Kyle Ryde (OMG Nitrous Competitions Yamaha) in the final race but still won by 1.7 seconds, with Leon Haslam third on the Moto Rapido Ducati. With a two-week break until the fourth round at Knockhill, Ray holds a 30-point lead over Ryde, with Haslam eight points back in third. Andrew Irwin (Honda Racing) crashed out of the third race yesterday and was 19th in the Sprint race. Fellow Northern Ireland rider Scott Swann skipped both races yesterday after a crash but is set to return on the IWR Honda at Knockhill. Lee Johnston crashed in yesterday's Supersport race, with reigning champion Jack Kennedy also a faller on the opening lap.

Glenn Irwin involved in practice crash
Northern Ireland rider has slipped down the championship standings as a consequence Glenn Irwin was taken to hospital for assessment Glenn Irwin's hopes of winning the British Superbike title suffered a blow yesterday after the Northern Ireland rider was ruled out of the opening race at round three following a crash at Snetterton. Irwin was high-sided from his Hager PBM Ducati machine during the final free practice session in the morning. The 35-year-old was taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for assessment after initial checks at the circuit medical centre did not show any obvious damage. A statement issued by the organisers said: 'Glenn Irwin was taken to the circuit medical centre after a crash in Free Practice 3 (FP3). 'Following x-rays on his hip and right leg at the circuit medical centre where nothing was visible, he has been taken to Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further scans and is unfit for Qualifying. 'Further updates will follow when available.' Should Irwin be passed fit to race in today's two BSB races, he would have to start from the back of the grid. John Mowatt, PBM Ducati team coordinator, said: 'It was unfortunate. In the 10-minute FP3 session we had set a fairly quick lap on the first flyer and then we were bedding ourselves into it. Unfortunately, he's high-sided at turn 9 on the right-hand side. 'He took a bit of a heavy impact to the right-hand side of his body.' Irwin has now dropped from second in the championship to fourth after missing the first race of the weekend and is 30 points behind former champion Bradley Ray (Raceways Yamaha), who dominated yesterday's opener. Ray is back in BSB this year after two seasons competing in the World Superbike Championship and has picked up where he left off, winning five out of the six races held this year to underline his title credentials. The English rider set a new lap record and won by 5.380s from reigning champion Kyle Ryde (OMG Nitrous Competitions Yamaha), with Tommy Bridewell sealing his first podium of 2025 in third for Honda Racing. Ulsterman Scott Swann finished 14th on the Send My Bag/IWR Honda, while Donegal's Richard Kerr was 16th (ROKiT BMW). Andrew Irwin (Honda Racing) did not finish after coming together with Lee Jackson. The BSB Sprint race today is at 1:20pm, with the final race of the weekend at the Norfolk circuit scheduled for 4:30pm. In the Supersport opener, Dublin's Jack Kennedy won from Rhys Irwin. Also yesterday, the fifth round of the Ulster Superbike Championship was held at Kirkistown in Co Down, where Derek Sheils (Roadhouse Macau BMW) won both races from Carl Phillips (SBT Ireland Kawasaki). Graeme Irwin was a double winner in the Supersport class on the Magic Bullet Ducati, and Christian Elkin won both Supertwin races.
