Kidambi Srikanth exits Canada Open 2025
Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth failed to reach a second final on the BWF Tour this year after losing to Japan's Kenta Nishimoto in the Canada Open 2025 semifinals on Saturday.
Srikanth fell to the third seed 21-19, 14-21, 18-21 in a match which lasted for one hour and 18 minutes.
Earlier in the year, the Indian had reached the final of the BWF Super 500 Malaysia Masters where he'd lost to China's Li Shifeng in straight games.
In Canada, Srikanth began his semifinal run after beating compatriot Priyanshu Rajawat 18-21, 21-19, 21-14 to complete a come-from-behind win in 53 minutes.
In the Round of 16 and quarterfinal matches, he overcame two shuttlers from Chinese Taipei in Wang Po-Wei and top seed Chou Tien-Chen.
With Srikanth's loss, the Indian challenge at the BWF Super 300 event came to an end.
The next tournament on the tour is the Japan Open, a Super 750 event, set to be held between July 15 and 20.
