Patanjali plans major venture in Vizianagaram dist
Patanjali Ayurved, a leading Indian consumer goods company, is set to establish large-scale industrial units in Chinaravupalli and Pedaravupalli of Kotthavalasa mandal, Vizianagaram district. On Thursday, Patanjali founder Baba Ramdev and business partner Acharya Balkrishna conducted a ground-level inspection of the site, where the state government has allotted 172 acrefor the project. The planned units will focus on food processing, Ayurvedic medicines, and agriculture-based industries, promising significant employment opportunities for the region. Addressing concerns of displaced farmers, Baba Ramdev assured fair compensation and support for those still awaiting payments. Ramdev praised Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu as a visionary leader and thanked him for enabling this venture, which aims to drive regional development and economic growth.

VIJAYAWADA: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev urged Indians travelling to Paris, Switzerland, or Turkey to explore scenic destinations within Andhra Pradesh instead. Speaking during the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Conclave Tech AI 2.0 in Vijayawada on Friday, he hailed Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu as the most visionary leader in the country. 'No one in India works with such public interest, creativity, productivity, and professionalism. Chandrababu is a divine gift to the Telugu people,' Ramdev said. Responding to the Chief Minister's request to promote tourism and serve as an advisor to wellness centres, Ramdev announced that Patanjali would establish a world-class wellness centre in Horsley Hills and is keen to launch a destination wedding cruise boat project in Dindi. He said Patanjali is willing to actively promote Andhra Pradesh tourism if granted permission. As a symbolic gesture, he presented holy Ganga water from Haridwar to the Chief Minister. Later, Naidu and Baba Ramdev jointly flagged off tourism caravans converted into mobile hotel rooms.

AP inks Rs 10,328 cr in tourism MoUs, 22K jobs expected
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh govt on Friday signed more than 80 memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with leading international and domestic investors in the private tourism sector, amounting to 10,328 crore. The MoUs were formalized in the presence of chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu at the AP Tourism Tech AI 2.0 conclave here. These partnerships are expected to generate employment for 22,325 people and add 7,600 new hotel room keys across the state over the next four years. Naidu announced plans for robust tourism infrastructure, including a domestic airport in Madanapalle of Annamayya district. He extended an invitation to Patanjali Ayurved, led by Baba Ramdev, to develop a world-class wellness centre at Horsley Hills in Annamayya district, and proposed Baba Ramdev serve as a tourism advisor to the govt. Reaffirming tourism as a transformative force, Naidu remarked that while ideologies like socialism, capitalism, and communism may fade, "tourism will be the only 'ism' to endure", calling it a catalyst for sustainable growth. Patanjali Group to revive mega food park project in Vizianagaram district
Visakhapatnam: Yoga guru Baba Ramdev 's Patanjali Group is planning to revive its mega food park project on 172.84 acres at Chinnaraopalli village in Kothavalasa mandal of Vizianagaram district. Baba Ramdev had visited the site allotted by the govt nine years ago and the Patanjali food and herbal park is expected to provide employment to over 33,000 people in the district. The project would be set up as Patanjali Ayurved Limited (PAL). As per the initial plan, agricultural produce such as barley, maize, jowar, rice, pomegranate, sesame, turmeric, black gram, red gram, pulses, potato, peas, ginger, chilli, onion, and mango will be processed in the food park. Patanjali Group owner Baba Ramdev visited the site allotted for the project. Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) had acquired 'D' patta lands from farmers for the project. The revenue department paid Rs 8.5 lakh per acre as compensation to farmers and the company is expected to invest over Rs 500 crore. Baba Ramdev informed the locals that mega units would come up in the area under PAL. According to govt sources, the company would process two lakh metric tonnes of agriculture produce and would later increase the capicity to three lakh tonnes. The mega project will have core processing facilities including freezer facilities for fruits and vegetables, pre-cooling and ripening chambers, cold storage with blast freezer, dry grinding and packing facilities, among others. There will be an anchor unit of juice extraction with a capacity of 1,500 metric tonnes per day. It would be set up with an investment of Rs 45 crore.

Ayurveda's FMCG share remains low despite rising household use
Ayurveda, India's traditional healthcare system, accounts for just over 1% of the country's overall fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) market despite leading companies launching hundreds of natural and herbal personal care products over the past few years. While 92% of Indian households purchased ayurvedic products in 2024-25 compared to 89% five years ago, the contribution of the segment to the total FMCG volume increased to 1.1% from 0.8% during the period, according to a new exclusive report by Kantar, consumer insights arm of WPP. Moreover, in 2024-25, sales of ayurvedic products by volume fell 1% year-on-year, its first decline ever, a sharp reversal from the high double-digit growth in recent years on the back of the meteoric rise of Patanjali, an Ayurveda-based brand by yoga guru Baba Ramdev and the Covid-19 pandemic-driven affinity for natural products. "Ayurvedic brands grew during the pandemic as consumers shifted focus on immunity. But most brands talk about natural ingredients and not many companies talk about ayurveda. In FY24, Patanjali drove the category growth and in FY25, their performance dragged the numbers down. While there are temporary hiccups, there is interest in the sector," said K Ramakrishnan, managing director, South Asia, Worldpanel Division. "While not falling under the traditional FMCG bracket, products with ingredients such as ashwagandha, triphala, shilajit are selling D2C (direct-to-consumer) and even on Q-Comm (quick commerce) channels, reaching the urban upper sections of society." Ayurvedic brands are those which use traditional principles and methods of ayurveda, while natural brands just add a few natural or herbs to their products. Dabur 's sales increased 3% year-on-year in 2024-25, Himalaya and Cholayil expanded 7.5% and 1.3%, respectively. However, sales of both Patanjali and Vicco fell 4% year-on-year, impacting the overall segment growth, said Kantar. "We have been taking steps to drive penetration of our healthcare brands and expanding the need state beyond immunity by getting into new areas like combating stress, digestion etc., besides expanding the consumer cohorts and increasing usage occasions. These have helped our key Ayurvedic brands maintain their momentum and record market share gains," said Dabur CEO Mohit Malhotra. He added that the company continued to add new products and offer age-old ayurvedic remedies in modern formats to better connect with the millennial consumers. Almost every household in India purchases at least one ayurvedic brand. with Dabur having the highest penetration (81%), followed by Patanjali (58%), according to Kantar. However, Patanjali, due to its presence across many categories, dominates with a higher volume share.
