If Sabrina Carpenter's sexual lyrics offend you, she says you're to blame
Sabrina Carpenter has insisted anyone offended by her sexual lyrics only have themselves to blame. The 26-year-old singer has come under fire for her honest songs and racy moments on tour, including the infamous Juno sex position segment, and her kinky cover for new album Man's Best Friend. Her new album cover has also come under fire, but the Bad Chem pop star finds the backlash all rather amusing. 'It's always so funny to me when people complain,' she admitted to Rolling Stone. 'They're like, 'All she does is sing about this.' 'But those are the songs that you've made popular. Clearly you love sex. You're obsessed with it. It's in my show.' She also pointed out that while social media is always flooded with footage of whatever sex position she decided to mime during Juno, there's more to her gig than that. To view this video please enable JavaScript, and consider upgrading to a web browser that supports HTML5 video 'There's so many more moments than the 'Juno' positions, but those are the ones you post every night and comment on,' she argued. 'I can't control that. If you come to the show, you'll [also] hear the ballads, you'll hear the more introspective numbers.' Although Sabrina can 'find irony and humour' in the whole situation, she pointed to a greater issue with the way women are 'picked apart' and 'scrutinised in every capacity'. 'I'm talking about every female artist that is making art right now,' she said. 'It's something that keeps coming back. We just have to grow thicker skin, but they don't have to learn how to shut their mouths.' The interview has dropped just as the Espresso hitmaker is facing another wave of backlash over the cover for her new album, Man's Best Friend. Her upcoming collection – which is the follow-up to Short N' Sweet – will drop on August 29, and the artwork has sparked some criticism, as it shows her on her knees in a black minidress and heels. She can be seen posing for the camera and holding her hand up to a man's trouser leg, as he stood over her and gripped a fistful of her hair. The second picture in the post included a zoomed-in photo of a dog wearing a tag adorned with 'Man's Best Friend'. Fans are loving that new music is on the way, but the photoshoot has left a lot of people uncomfortable. More Trending Some social media users branded the cover 'disturbing', with others urging her to 'get up'. Below the announcement on Instagram, Edersoaresx penned: 'Lol this cover art is so disgusting. As a fan I don't like it :(.' 'I dont wanna see no man dragging you around by your hair mother please get up [sic],' wrote Carehanapov, while in a discussion over on Reddit, Adorable_Slide_921 simply complained: 'Ooooh boy do I hate this!' Fortnite gets a musical makeover as Sabrina Carpenter joins the festival stage
Image via Epic Games Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter is all set to take centre stage - virtually. In a unique blend of music and gaming, Epic Games has announced the Dance With Sabrina event as part of Fortnite Festival Season 8. The limited-time experience will run from May 30 to June 16, offering players a chance to attend a virtual concert and even star in it. How players can perform live in Fortnite's virtual concert The event will be hosted on Fortnite's Jam Stage, a mode designed to emulate the rhythm-based fun of games like Guitar Hero. Players can choose to perform as a vocalist, guitarist, drummer or bassist, and time their moves to hit songs such as 'Espresso' and 'Bad Chem'. The better the performance, the more their heart meter fills up - pushing them closer to an in-game spotlight. Those who score the highest during a session won't just be passive participants. Top performers will be assigned dynamic roles such as Dance Leader, Video Artist, or Special Effects Pro. Each role offers creative control over different parts of the show, from picking emotes and lighting effects to setting the stage's visual themes. The event is designed to be interactive and celebratory, with each concert shaped by its players. While this isn't the first time Fortnite has partnered with musical artists, Carpenter's event stands out for its immersive format. Earlier this year, her music and cosmetics were added to the game through the Season 8 Music Pass. Now, fans will get a more personal connection as they perform and pose alongside Carpenter's in-game avatar. Bad Chem bundle hits the item shop Adding to the excitement is the Bad Chem Bundle, which will be available in the Fortnite Item Shop starting May 29 at 8 PM ET. It includes a themed emote and jam track, timed perfectly for players wanting to dance in style. Though Epic has not confirmed any XP or cosmetic rewards for the Dance With Sabrina mode, players who top the leaderboard during a performance will get a chance to appear in the Finale Snapshot - a virtual group photo featuring Sabrina's avatar. For fans of the singer, it's an opportunity to be part of a digital tour experience unlike any other. And for Fortnite players, it's a chance to show off their rhythm and creativity in a global pop music celebration. So whether you're a seasoned Fortnite fan or a Sabrina Carpenter follower, mark your calendars - Fortnite is ready to get the party started. Sabrina Carpenter and Charli XCX BRIT Awards appearances spark hundreds of Ofcom complaints
Ofcom received 825 complaints over the Brit Awards, with the majority relating to Sabrina Carpenter's raunchy performance and Charli XCX's outfit, the media watchdog says. US pop star Carpenter, 25, sported a red sparkly military-style blazer dress for her performance at the awards show on Saturday night, paired with stockings and suspenders for a rendition of Espresso. The song was mixed with a Rule Britannia mash-up, as dancers in military parade dress followed her. She then switched to a red sparkly bra and shorts for her next song, Bad Chem, which she performed alongside dancers in bras and shorts while sitting suggestively on a large bed. Carpenter later received the global success award at the ceremony, and was also nominated in the international artist and international song of the year categories. But much of the buzz on social media surrounded her performance, which took place before the 9pm watershed. 1:57 Charli XCX, who , including album of the year. Some viewers took issue with her outfit - a black see-through dress. The singer addressed the concerns during her acceptance speech for artist of the year, saying: "I heard that ITV were complaining about my nipples. I feel like we're in the era of 'free the nipple' though, right?" Carpenter paid tribute to the UK in her acceptance speech, saying: "The Brits have given me this award, and this feels like such an insane honour in a very primarily tea-drinking country... you really understood my dry sense of humour because your sense of humour is so, so dry. So I love y'all more than you even understand."
