Collector Emphasizes Boost in Government School Enrollments and Literacy Initiatives

Gadwal: District Collector B.M. Santhosh has directed education department officials to take concerted efforts to significantly increase student enrollment in all government schools during the current academic year. He issued these instructions during a review meeting with Mandal Education Officers held on Thursday at the IDOC Conference Hall. During the session, the Collector conducted a comprehensive analysis of changes and progress across all departments within the education sector from last year to the present. He issued appropriate guidelines based on this review. Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector highlighted that government schools have improved significantly in terms of infrastructure, student pass percentages, filling of teacher vacancies, quality teaching, and provision of free uniforms and textbooks by the state government. He emphasized that officials should go door-to-door to motivate parents and students, encouraging them to enroll in government schools in larger numbers. He clearly instructed that 100% attendance of both teachers and students must be ensured in all government schools. He also directed Mandal Education Officers to update and submit reports related to the Badibata (enrollment drive) program. The Collector suggested reopening four primary schools in villages with zero enrollment — Putanpalli, Baswapur, Mirjapur, and Edulagudem. He also instructed that every student's Aadhaar number be registered in UDISE+ and that APAR IDs be generated without delay. To resolve Aadhaar-related issues, he advised Mandal Education Officers to coordinate with EDMs to ensure swift Aadhaar registration and correction for all students. He also stressed the importance of providing nutritious meals as per the prescribed menu under the Mid-Day Meal Scheme. Regarding students who passed Class 10, the Collector ordered the Intermediate Officer to monitor their enrollment in government junior colleges and take necessary steps to ensure their continuation in education. Special attention was also given to adult women's literacy. The Collector urged the organization of special classes under the "Ullas" program to promote universal education. He emphasized the need to utilize the Telangana Open School Society (TOSS) programs and collaborate with self-help groups to raise awareness and improve literacy at the village level. District Intermediate Officer Hriday Raju, Mandal Education Officers from all mandals, and district coordinators attended the meeting.

Badibata to mark repoening of schools across Andhra Pradesh today

Vijayawada: As the 2025-26 academic year begins on Thursday, schools across Andhra Pradesh are buzzing with excitement. Following instructions from State IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, the education department has made elaborate arrangements to mark the reopening day with a grand celebration. As per the official date, a total of 58,950 schools, including 44,617 govt schools, 13,249 private recognized schools, and 84 private-aided schools, will simultaneously reopen on Thursday. To welcome students back, the govt has launched a statewide programme called 'Badibata.' As part of this initiative, teachers will greet students with enthusiasm and provide them with specially prepared school kits containing textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, shoes, belts, and other essential supplies. Teachers will also introduce students to the new class curriculum through orientation sessions. In addition to the festivities, the education department is taking steps to address the issue of school dropouts. Headmasters and class teachers will conduct a review of admissions and dropouts, verifying how many new students have joined and investigating reasons behind any withdrawals. A week-long school dropout survey will also be conducted, where teachers will visit students' homes to understand the cause of absenteeism and counsel parents to re-enroll their children. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like I lost my wife, now my son is in danger, please help him! Why adjustment of teachers before completion of Badibata?- TSUTF

Hyderabad: The Telangana State United Teachers Federation (TSUTF) has raised concerns regarding the state government's decision to adjust teachers before the reopening of schools. TSUTF State President Chava Ravi has demanded that the school timetable for all Gurukul schools be changed to start at 9 AM before schools resume, emphasizing that this change should prioritize the needs of the students. He warned that if the government persists in its tactless approach toward job-related issues, the organization will intensify its efforts to unite teachers in protest. TSTUF state general secretary A. Venkati acknowledged the state's Badibata program, aimed at registering students in schools, which was conducted starting June 6, before the school reopening. However, he criticized the education department for issuing Memo No. 1267, which addresses the adjustment of teachers, calling it a mockery. He pointed out that while the government intends to reopen closed schools under the guise of the Badibata program and increase student enrollment in under-populated schools, it is contradictory to adjust teachers before the completion of this registration process. Venkati expressed concern that this approach could lead to the decline of government schools and questioned how the government plans to instill confidence in parents and boost student enrollment. The TSUTF has also demanded the introduction of pre-primary classes in primary schools. Also, one classroom and one teacher for each class as the parents demand the same. They urge that the rules be amended accordingly and that teacher adjustments be made only after the completion of the student registration process. They called for promotions for teachers within the Education Department to the positions of Deputy Education Officers, Diet Lecturers, and Middle Education Officers, noting that several districts and mandals in the state are currently operated with in-charge staff rather than full-time DEOs and MEOs.
