Manama: During His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa's visit to the Ras Sanad Mangrove Nursery, Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, commended His Highness's commitment to advancing Bahrain's environmental sustainability efforts. He highlighted His Highness's role in supporting national initiatives, including the Bahrain Mangrove initiative, which aligns with the Kingdom's goal of reducing carbon emissions by 30% by 2035 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060. According to Bahrain News Agency, Dr. Bin Daina emphasised Bahrain's commitment to preserving natural resources in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. Dr. Bin Daina underscored the impact of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman's directives to the national mangrove planting team and the launch of the Bahrain Mangrove initiative in December 2024, highlighting that both have driven progress in expanding mangrove coverage through a strategic plan that leverages sustainable planting technologies. He also highlighted the role of strategic partnerships between environmental institutions and national companies in facilitating knowledge exchange, expanding coastal green areas, and applying innovative environmental solutions that support Bahrain's environmental commitments. Dr. Bin Daina commended the UAE's pioneering use of modern technologies in mangrove cultivation and highlighted the strong environmental cooperation between Bahrain and the UAE. Dr. Shaikha Salem Al Dhaheri, Secretary-General of the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi, emphasised the UAE's dedication to mangrove conservation, noting that Abu Dhabi has significantly expanded its mangrove ecosystems, covering approximately 17,600 hectares.
