Best custom build award winner scoops an auction win

An award-winning Gippsland house that's full of treasured family memories changed hands for $1.21m on the weekend. Owners Zoe McCarthy and her husband Paddy bought 51 Cashin St, Inverloch, about eight years ago. At the time, the block was home to an older beach house. RELATED: Gippsland: Former Saint Austinn 'Aussie' Jones and wife Kate list Bunyip house 'Triple vacuum sealed' Passivhaus breaks Inverloch house price record with $3.25m sale South Gippsland: Versace Castle, aka Villa Versace, hits the market – armoury and all Rather than demolish the residence, they gifted it to some people who moved it to a new location in Bass. The McCarthys then engaged Inverloch-based Baybuilt Homes and its director Bill Blundy to build them a four-bedroom house. Shaped like the letter C, the residence features a kitchen fitted with an engineered stone island bench, two living areas, a study nook, outdoor shower, undercover dining area and wraparound deck. 'We love our living area where you have one big open room with a pitched ceiling and skylights that allow a huge amount of natural light in, Ms McCarthy said. 'That's like the heart of the home because you've got the kitchen, dining and living space.' Along with their three children, they have hosted plenty of barbecues and Christmases. 'We just open the doors up and have everyone sitting outside on the deck,' Ms McCarthy said. Stepping inside the front door, a 'false entry' leads to the deck. It was inspired by a similar feature in Balinese-style pads, designed so that homeowners can avoid trekking sand and wet clothes through a house after visiting the beach. The abode even won a Master Builders' Best Custom Build award in 2024. 'We were pretty chuffed, I think there were 50-plus homes in the category,' Ms McCarthy said. While she and her husband were sad to sell the house, they are moving to be closer to family. Ray White Inverloch principal Fiona McMahon-Hughes said three bidders competed for the keys at Saturday's auction conducted by auctioneer Megan Harris. The home was announced on the market after bidding hit the $1m mark, with the final sales price delivering a sum $210,000 higher. Ms McMahon-Hughes said that the successful buyers, a family, were 'absolutely ecstatic'. 'The sellers were excited to hand over the keys to a lovely new family,' Ms McMahon-Hughes said. This Iconic Bahamas Resort Is Hosting Wellness Weekends Throughout the Summer—Here's How You Can Join

There's arguably no better destination for rest and relaxation than the sandy shores and turquoise waters of the Bahamas, and The Ocean Club, A Four Seasons Resort, is ready to add a little extra wellness to your R&R routine. Nora Tobin—integrated health coach and founder of Nora's Naturals, a sustainable nutrition line—has created three weekend-long retreats throughout the summer in partnership with the luxury resort. The retreats are built around Tobin's four signature pillars: Restore, Perform, Nourish, and Glow, which she's designed to integrate personal wellbeing into each trip without sacrificing indulgence. Taking into consideration that guests are, of course, on vacation, the extent of their participation is entirely up to them. They can throw themselves into an immersive three-day retreat (which still includes plenty of beach and dining time), or they can cherry-pick activities in an a la carte format. The weekends will be filled with small group classes, individual sessions, and seminars. 'My goal with our upcoming retreat series is to provide approachable tools to gently transform wellbeing and accelerate performance in a playful environment," Tobin said. "The retreats are not only an opportunity to revitalize, but also create exceptional social connections. One of the most thrilling aspects for me is the ability to bring amazing people together who may become dear friends, or at the very least, enjoy passion fruit martinis by the sea." (I highly recommend said martini.)"One of the most thrilling aspects for me is the ability to bring amazing people together who may become dear friends, or at the very least, enjoy passionfruit martinis by the sea."I had the chance to get an early taste of some of the amazing things Tobin and Four Seasons have to offer, and what I loved most was that I was able to enjoy all my favorite parts of a vacation while working on my wellbeing. We would practice beachside yoga, listening to the sounds of the crashing waves, and then follow that up with a crisp glass of Champagne—which, in my opinion, is the perfect way to end a yoga class. Experiencing a sample from each of the upcoming weekends, I learned new wellness techniques that are easy to integrate into not only my everyday personal life, but my professional life as well. When classes are not in session, guests can explore and enjoy the 35 acres of lush tropical resort, including three pools (keep an eye out for the Versailles pool, featured in the James Bond film "Casino Royale"), a fitness center, tennis and golf courts, and a Balinese-style spa. Visit The Ocean Club website to sign up for the following weekends: Restore and Renew, June 6-8: Focus on restoring and renewing reparative sleep, stress reset, and biological age optimization. Fitness and Performance, July 18-20: Target metabolic transformation, performance nutrition, and athletic recovery. Nourish and Glow, Aug. 3-5: Learn about natural fat burning, anti-aging nutrition, and detoxing your system. Read the original article on Travel & Leisure

Surrounded by the lush greens of Nusa Dua, a mental reset awaits in Revīvō Wellness Resorts

Revivere or revīvō : Latin for 'I live again'. A simple adage for a promised life; one that is easy to understand upon entering the elusive space that is Revīvō Wellness Resorts in Bali, Indonesia. The drive to the property from the airport is so unassuming—barely crossing the 30-minute mark—that you hardly discern just how far away you are from civilian life. In actuality, you are ensconced in the lush surroundings of Nusa Dua—comprising some three hectares of dense teak trees—where, with time, the constant buzz of cicadas becomes the only familiar sound. Courtesy of Revivo Wellness Just like its soundscape, the rest of the resort is stripped bare of any reminders of life beyond its perimeter. Other than its Balinese-style architecture which encourages a slower way of life, I barely notice the presence of any other staying guest. The amicable staff too, work diligently at their respective tasks, always helpful but never making their presence felt. Nonetheless, that is not to say that it is stripped of life itself. Instead—like its namesake—Revīvō is where the mind is reset; the body, nurtured; and the soul, restored. A second shot at life, perchance. Revīvō's new Vitality Centre. Courtesy of Revivo Wellness The Revīvō treatment At Revīvō, every guest is afforded the same degree of seriousness. Be it sustainable weight loss or establishing a healthy sleep routine, both short- and long-term goals are taken into consideration no matter the duration of their wellness retreat. They hit the ground running—starting with an arrival consultation with a wellness coach. This is where the healing begins.'Your body is craving the rest. It's practically screaming for it.' These are the words I'm met with halfway through the hour with my wellness consultant, Dr Jayvant Bhagattjee. He tells me that my mind and body feel heavy, fraught with the emotions I've been keeping at bay—the aftermath of a trying year from dealing with grief and a complicated situation at home. Add a multitude of prior injuries, a worsening immunity system and an erratic work schedule, and it was a wealth of pain points that I had to work through. The regimen I am presented with is a measured prescription of slow body work in the form of various yoga class types and stretching sessions, combined with a lean, mindful diet that demands a sense of discipline. Half-portions at meals, fewer carbohydrates and strictly no desserts. If anything, meal times prove the sheer might of Nū, the only in-house restaurant. Post-consult, every guest's meal plan is sent to the kitchen and customised to their myriad needs. Despite the controlled diet, some meals turn out to be a welcome surprise, like a delicious tempeh satay or a scrambled tofu alternative I thoroughly enjoy for breakfast one morning. Nevertheless, the diet change is still a reckoning for my body and I struggle. Throughout the stay, there are times I falter and steal a bite of dessert. But Bhagattjee is the furthest from discouraging. Baby steps, he assures. Self-healing Beyond my specially curated itinerary, Bhagattjee recommends I try finding my own balance in my free time here. That translates into a lengthy swim one morning, and some contrast therapy afforded by the resort's hot and cold plunge pools as well as its infrared sauna room. But balance knowingly comes with its fair share of indulgence. The hour of pampering thus arrives in the form of two pleasurable sessions at Remissiō, the in-house spa. The first is a divine hot stone massage, in which my massage therapist expertly whisks away all the unwanted tension in my strained muscles. But the true treat is a spice wrap consisting of a medicinal scrub and yogurt rub, followed by a relaxing herbal bath. Redefining holistic well-being Notably, we're entering a frontier of wellness that blends ancient wisdom and modern science, and Revīvō's Vitality Centre proves to be a sanctuary for new-age transformation. Think advanced health assessments where state-of-the-art technologies are used to achieve a precise evaluation of your body's full aerobic potential or its resting metabolic rate as well as innovative therapies which utilise advanced oxygen modulation to give your body the same benefits as high-altitude training. A fleet of new-age treatments await at Revīvō's new Vitality Centre, from red light therapy sessions to meditative colour therapy. Courtesy of Revivo Wellness Restful minutes are also par for the course with treatments such as the Rebalance Impulse Neuro-Relaxation Therapy, which is a science-backed form of colour therapy that sets one's meditative brain waves into motion and feels almost hypnotic. A transportive exercise that forces you to slow down, cut out the noise and reset the mental state, if you will. In times like these, there's no denying that Revīvō is the ultimate reprieve. Between its advanced forms of treatments, ancient healing therapies and the work it makes you put into reforming your daily habits for a better way of life, the one question I gather Revīvō wishes to posture might be this: what does it really mean to live? Sunrise Hotels: live your best life in high style

Sunrise Jade Hotel Set above the idyllic Protaras Bay on the southeast coast, 45 minutes from Larnaca airport, the Sunrise Jade Hotel is a five-star sanctuary with unobstructed sea views, perfectly placed to give guests the chance to reconnect, relax and recharge. The hotel is beautifully set up for adults who enjoy world-class facilities, from the high-end Jade Spa to the vast infinity pool with its panoramic views, swim-up bar and verdant manicured gardens. There are a variety of rooms to choose from, depending on your needs, but all are bright and contemporary with walk-in showers and Korres toiletries. The spa is a peaceful haven, designed to maximise tranquillity and rejuvenation, with a wide range of treatments that can be tailored to guests' specific needs whether it be a deep-tissue massage or a refreshing facial. The hotel also features a fitness club, sauna and two further pools, so whether you want to lift weights, swim laps or do an hour of yoga you'll be catered for. When the time to dine arrives, the range and quality ensures every appetite is satisfied. International restaurant Sage has a large terrace looking out to sea and an eclectic à la carte lunch menu. In the evening you could go for Asian and Mediterranean fusion at Ginger Asian Fusion or head to Reef American Grill & Sports Bar for flame-grilled dishes. Spearmint Pool Bar offers juice, coffee, ice cream and snacks while Patisserie Amelie serves cakes and waffles that are to die for. Every need is catered for so there's no need to leave the hotel, but the quiet location is just a 15-minute walk from the centre of Protaras. Fig Tree Bay, a Blue Flag beach with a delightful promenade, is less than a mile away and just a little further away are the Cape Greco National Forest Park nature trails. Sunrise Pearl Hotel & Spa For families who enjoy a stylish and luxurious getaway, the Sunrise Pearl Hotel & Spa, set on one of Protaras's most beautiful sand beaches, has everything to suit families. There are four outdoor pools to choose from (including a splash pool for the children), big gardens to explore, an indoor pool, a buzzing kids' club offering daily activities, a high-end spa and no fewer than seven restaurants to sample. And with the Blue Flag Sunrise Beach on the doorstep, there's more than enough fun, food and frivolity to satisfy the whole family for two weeks and beyond. Rooms are set up to suit couples or families – you have the option of Junior Suites with sliding privacy doors or the one-bedroom Duplex Suite that has a separate bedroom and a guaranteed crowd pleaser in the form of a private Jacuzzi on the terrace. Two of the pools are adults-only ensuring those without kids – or parents whose children have abandoned them in favour of the kids' club – can enjoy serenity, a swim-up bar and maybe even one of the Balinese-style day beds. The dining experience will be a constant journey of exploration thanks to the range of choices and styles of cuisine. You could start the day with an American breakfast at the Waterfall Restaurant, enjoy a Mediterranean poolside lunch at Mistral and then head to one of six à la cartes for dinner with Greek, Italian, pan-Asian, steak and fish restaurants all offering equally delicious menus. The kids will particularly love the pâtisserie that serves up cakes, waffles and ice cream while the four bars make perfect pre or post-dinner spots. Nothing aids all the digestion quite like a visit to the Pearl Spa where you'll find a Sanarium that's home to a sauna, steam room, snow chamber, jets and sprays, as well as mud baths and foot baths. For higher-octane fun, you can enjoy the fitness centre, squash, tennis and padel courts, and water sports at Sunrise Beach, the nearby sister hotel.
