50 Cent Teases Role In Forthcoming ‘Street Fighter' Movie
50 Cent does not stop working. The 49-year-old entrepreneur recently teased having a role in the upcoming Street Fighter movie. Nexus Point News reported that the G-Unit leader was in talks of taking on the role of Balrog, a disgraced boxer who first appeared in Street Fighter II: The World Warrior. Fif saw the report and took to Instagram with a screenshot of the article. 'No Days off,' he wrote. 'Let's work all roads lead to Shreveport *bomb emoji* Boom *smoke emoji*.' Legendary Entertainment hasn't confirmed his involvement yet, but the movie's reboot has been circulating for some time now. Reports claim that Jason Momoa, Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, and WWE superstar Roman Reigns will all have roles in the film, slated to release in 2026. The 'In Da Club' rapper is no stranger to the big screen. During his prime music years, he starred in Get Rich Or Die Tryin', a film adaptation of his come-up story that is documented in his debut LP of the same name. He has also appeared in The Expendables 4, Boneyard, Righteous Kill, Escape, and Southpaw. He has also had a huge year, expanding his TV channel 50 Cent Action to the United Kingdom. 'You know, everybody loves London. If you're from New York, or you're a recording artist from America in general, the first stop and your first dose of international love is London,' he told Deadline. 'My audience, my core audience – the people that were enjoying my music in the very beginning – is at home. They're older. They'll understand the entertainment choices that I make creatively. I've used music to merge with entertainment. Being able to launch out here [in the UK] is big because I have a huge audience here that hasn't been able to participate with us. Now they get a chance to see it.' More from 50 Cent Confirms Nelly's Story About Apologizing To Ashanti For Murder Inc. Rapper 50 Cent Seemingly Confirms 'Street Fighter' Casting
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek's network of contributors Rapper Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson has seemingly confirmed a report that he's in talks to star in the upcoming "Street Fighter" reboot. If true, Jackson will potentially play the boxer Balrog. Nexus Point News was the first site to report that Jackson was in talks to play Balrog, and not long after their report, Jackson took to social media platform X to respond. Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson attends the Grand Opening of the brand new Planet Hollywood NYC hosted by Robert Earl, Alec & Hilaria Baldwin, Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson, and Boy George on March 11, 2025 in New York City. Morefor Planet Hollywood If the report is true, then Jackson won't be playing one of the good guys. First appearing in 1991's "Street Fighter II: The World Warrior", Balrog is one of the fighters on the side of M. Bison's malevolent organization, Shadaloo. Balrog is a boxer from Las Vegas whose star was once on the rise, but he wound up in disgrace after his ambitions led him to cheat and even to kill some of his opponents in the ring. The news of Jackson's potential casting is the second casting story to emerge about "Street Fighter" in as many days. Yesterday, we learned that "Presence" star Callina Liang had joined the cast as martial arts expert and Interpol agent Chun-Li. The cast list of the "Street Fighter" reboot continues to grow, with perhaps the biggest name attached so far that of Jason Momoa. It's also been reported that Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck will star in the film. Nexus Point News reports that Momoa is playing the monstrous Blanka, Centineo is Ken, Koji is Ryu, Reigns plays Akuma, and Peck will play Vega. The "Street Fighter" reboot is being directed by Kitao Sakurai, and the latest draft of the script was written by Dalan Musson, who co-wrote "Captain America: Brave New World". There's no word yet on producers. The "Street Fighter" games first launched in 1987, and numerous sequels and spinoffs followed. The games usually revolve around a global fighting competition organized by the villainous M. Bison. Steven E. de Souza wrote and directed the first live-action "Street Fighter" film that hit theaters in 1994. It starred Ming-Na Wen, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Raul Julia, and Wes Studi among others. How ‘The Rings of Power' translated Tolkien's Balrog to the screen
'I wanted this to be something that would have been hanging on my bedroom wall,' says senior visual effects supervisor Jason Smith about the heroic depiction of King Durin III (Peter Mullan) sacrificing himself to a fiery monster during the climactic Season 2 finale of 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.' The immortalizing moment, which follows a tearful goodbye between father and son, drew inspiration from J.R.R. Tolkien's description of the Balrog as a being of 'shadow and flame.' 'We didn't want to ruin the poetry of Tolkien's writing by showing too much. He leaves space for your mind to help tell the story in a way that you will find compelling, so we tried to do that,' explains Smith. A mixture of milky blacks and crimson hues brought the photorealistic scene together, the contrast in color elevating the nightmarish image where every detail, down to the white-hot flames and lava-red horns, was designed to captivate the viewer. 'The first thing we wanted is for people to feel the emotional journey of the story,' says Smith. 'Then we leaned into the symbolism while maintaining realism. You'll notice the creature is a creature of shadow and flame.'

Lego's New ‘Lord of the Rings' Set Decides What Shall and Shall Not Pass Your Bookshelf
Ever since Lego returned to making annual Lord of the Rings set, the company has gone big, with high price, high-parts-count sets that bring bits of Middle-earth to life on as grand a scale as possible. Its next one, however, is a little different. We already got our annual big Lord of the Rings set this year with the release of The Shire, but Lego is bringing Lord of the Rings into another of its toy lines with today's announcement of a buildable book nook recreating Gandalf's confrontation with the Balrog in Moria from Fellowship of the Rings. Following on in the vein of the Sherlock Holmes book nook revealed last month, the $130, 1201-piece Lord of the Rings set can either be displayed entirely unfurled, or folded up into a compacted version of the iconic scene that can be easily slotted into a book shelf (presumably one you've stuffed with plenty of Tolkien tomes). Lego Lord of the Rings Balrog Book Nook The Balrog Book Book includes, of course, a minifigure of Gandalf wielding his sword and staff, as well as a brick-built Balrog, which comes with a recreation of its flame whip as well as massive wings that unfurl outwards when the set is folded out, framed by columns of fire. And, of course, on the front of the set whether it's in the folded or unfolded configuration is a brick printed with Gandalf's legendary 'You shall not pass!' quote from the scene, guaranteeing you doing your best Ian McKellen impression whenever you look at it. It's an unusual move for Lego to bring Lord of the Rings to some of its other product lines after it's spent the past few years exclusively treating it as a yearly one-off, and hopefully a sign that we might see more of Middle-earth than just one massively pricey set each year. An architecture set of Minas Tirith? An buildable art piece replicating the painting in Rivendell of Sauron and Isildur's battle? What about a botanicals set of the White Tree of Gondor, or a bundle of athelas? Hell, I can't be the only one thinking that the fellowship sailing past the Argonath might have made just as good as a book nook idea as Moria, honestly! It might not be a return to the full-throated Lord of the Rings line that some fans might have wished for, but it lets us hope–even if it's just a fool's hope–that we might start seeing Lord of the Rings pop up on Lego shelves a little more regularly. The Lego Lord of the Rings Balrog Book Nook is available to pre-order now, ahead of a release on June 1.
