Attempt to misuse late NCP leader Baba Siddique's mobile number foiled: one arrested from Delhi

New Delhi [India], July 7 (ANI): Mumbai's Bandra Police has arrested a man from Delhi for allegedly attempting to activate a new SIM card using the mobile number of late Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former MLA Baba Siddique, who was recently murdered in October 2024. The accused, a resident of Delhi's Burari area, has previous cases of cybercrime registered against him. He is accused of trying to activate Baba Siddique's mobile number on a different SIM card with the intent to commit fraud. There are already two cases registered against the accused in Mumbai. Following Baba Siddique's death, his family kept his mobile number active as it was linked to his ongoing business operations. On June 24, an email was received in the name of Baba Siddique's wife, Shahzeen Siddique, seeking information related to the official ownership and authorisation of the mobile number. The email was accompanied by documents including Shahzeen Siddique's Aadhaar card, PAN card, GST number, and the letterhead of the family's company. The accused allegedly planned to use these forged documents to activate the number on another SIM card and execute fraudulent activities. However, the concerned telecom company alerted the family via email after receiving the suspicious application. Baba Siddique's daughter, Dr. Arshia, was also copied in the communication, which raised the family's suspicion about the chances of fraud. Subsequently, a complaint was filed at the Bandra Police Station. An FIR has been registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 319(2) (cheating), Section 62 (attempt to commit a cognizable offence), Section 335 (forgery of documents), Sections 336(2) and 336(3) (forgery of records), and Section 340(2) (misrepresentation of electronic records as genuine). The accused, identified as Vivek Sabharwal, was arrested by the Mumbai Police from Delhi. Preliminary investigations suggest that the case is linked to a cyber fraud group. (ANI)

How two people managed to breach heavy security, trespass on Salman Khan's Galaxy apartment

NEW DELHI: Two individuals have been arrested for attempting to illegally enter Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence at Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, Mumbai, in separate incidents that occurred on consecutive days earlier this week. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now On Tuesday, 23-year-old Jitendra Kumar Singh from Chhattisgarh was seen loitering near the apartment complex in the morning. When asked to leave by a constable, he reportedly smashed his mobile phone in frustration. Later that evening, Singh returned and tried to sneak into the premises by following a resident's vehicle. Though he breached the compound, he was stopped at the main gate by security personnel and handed over to Bandra Police. During questioning, Singh told police he was a fan who desperately wanted to meet the actor. The next morning, a 36-year-old woman named Isha Chabria from Khar attempted a similar intrusion. Claiming she had been invited by Khan, she managed to reach the actor's flat and even knocked on the door. However, when the staff found she had no legitimate reason to be there, they contacted police and she was taken into custody. Authorities confirmed both Singh and Chabria have been booked under charges of house trespassing under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. An official stated that the woman is still being questioned, and her background is being verified. These back-to-back incidents have raised concerns, especially given that Salman Khan remains under heightened security due to threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The actor currently enjoys 'Y-plus' security cover provided by Mumbai Police.

Security Breach at Salman Khan's Mumbai Residence: Man and Woman Arrested for Trespassing

In a fresh security breach at Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's Bandra residence, Mumbai Police arrested a man and a woman for allegedly attempting to trespass into Galaxy Apartments on separate occasions earlier this week. The arrested individuals have been identified as Jitendra Kumar Singh (23), a resident of Chhattisgarh, and Isha Chhabra (32). According to police officials, Singh was first spotted loitering near Khan's residence around 9:45 AM on Tuesday. When confronted by security personnel, he reportedly smashed his mobile phone in frustration. Later that evening, Singh allegedly tailgated a resident's vehicle to gain entry into the apartment complex. He was intercepted inside the premises and handed over to the Bandra Police. During questioning, Singh reportedly claimed he only wanted to meet the actor and resorted to sneaking in after being denied entry. In a separate incident around 3:30 AM on Wednesday, Isha Chhabra also attempted to enter the building and managed to reach the lift area before being stopped by security. Both suspects have been booked for trespassing, and investigations are ongoing, police said. This incident comes amid heightened security around Khan's residence following a shooting in April 2024. Two men on a motorcycle, allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, opened fire outside Galaxy Apartments. The gang has reportedly targeted Khan in connection with the 1998 blackbuck poaching case, which offended the Bishnoi community. In response, the actor has been under 'Y-plus' security cover and has made significant upgrades to residential security infrastructure. The threat perception increased further after the assassination of politician Baba Siddique—Khan's close friend—by members of the same gang later that year. At a press event earlier in March 2025, ahead of his film Sikandar, Khan spoke about the impact of constant security on his daily life: 'It's not when I'm with the press. It's when I'm without the press—that's when it cramps my style. I can't do anything. It's straight from Galaxy to shoot, and back home.'
