The Tripura government has formed a 15-member Special Task Force (STF) in West Tripura district to detect, identify and deport illegal immigrants from Bangladesh or Myanmar who have entered and settled in the district. 'In accordance for deportation of illegal Bangladeshi National/Rohingyas a district level Special Task Force (STF) with the following members of the district has been constituted for West Tripura District Police to detect, identify and deport illegal immigrants from Bangladesh/ Mayanmar settled or apprehended in the District,' reads a circular by Dr Kiran Kumar, Superintendent of Police of West Tripura district, on Friday evening. The notice came in response to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs' direction in May to all the states and Union Territories to verify the credentials of suspected illegal immigrants who are staying as Indian citizens and if they are found ineligible, they should be deported. As per the notification, the team members would capture biometrics and demographic details of those people if they are identified as Bangladeshi national or Rohingyas during inquiry, on the Ministry of Home Affairs' foreigners identification portal After the processes, they would be handed over to the officers of designated Border Security Force (BSF) to deport them to their native land.

Selangor MACC director Hairuzam Mohmad Amin confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 for false claims. PETALING JAYA : The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested five people, including four company directors, on suspicion of submitting documents with false information to obtain foreign worker permits. Bernama quoted a source as saying four men and a woman, aged 20 to 60, were arrested between 3pm and 6pm yesterday while giving statements at the Selangor MACC office. 'Initial investigations found that all the suspects submitted application documents with false details to the Selangor immigration department under the Manpower Recalibration Programme 2.0. 'All the suspects are believed to have committed these acts around 2023 to 2024 through their respective companies,' said the source. The suspects were remanded for four days from today after MACC's application was approved by magistrate Redza Azhar Rezali at the Shah Alam magistrates' court. One of the company directors is a Bangladeshi national. Selangor MACC director Hairuzam Mohmad Amin confirmed the arrests and said the case is being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009 for false claims. However, he said three other individuals who were also arrested in connection with the case yesterday were released on bail of RM10,000 each, with two sureties, for health reasons.
