These three new PlayStation Plus games will dominate your weekend (July 18-20)
If you're a PlayStation player worried that Nintendo Switch 2 fans are having all the fun this weekend with Donkey Kong Bananza, fear not because I have an entire lineup of new games coming to the service to recommend for this hot July weekend. Even after we got the surprise drop of Cyberpunk 2077 last week, the new slate of games available now is certainly not a downgrade. This weekend, you can choose to go back in time for a paranormal action adventure, engross yourself in a deep action MMORPG, or enjoy a nice throwback to a classic PlayStation franchise. Whatever you're in the mood for, I have the best games on PlayStation Plus you should play this weekend, so let's dive in. Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden was largely overlooked when it came out in early 2024, when it launched next to some bigger-profile games. However, this story-driven game from DON'T NOD is a special one that you don't have any excuse to ignore anymore. If you love a lovingly crafted world, rich characters, and a unique twist on traditional mechanics, this game has it all. You will play as both Red and Antea, a married pair of Banishers who act as spirit hunters in 1695. Only Antea has been killed and is turned into a spirit. Each choice you make impacts your relationship with each other as well as the people in New Eden. Recommended Videos Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. New World: Aeternum Originally launched as simply New World, New World Aeternum is the brand-new console port of the hit PC MMORPG. Unlike traditional MMOs, New World doesn't rely on auto-attacks and rotating skills on cooldown. Instead, the action feels much closer to a classic action RPG. Another unique aspect that keeps the combat engaging is in how enemies scale their behavior, not just stats, to your level. As you get stronger, they will employ more tactics and strategies to counter you, forcing you to fully master your character's build. Since the game originally came out in 2021, there is a ton of content ready to go now that it has hit PS5, so jump in and see if this world grabs you. New World: Aeternum is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Twisted Metal 3 If you've been reading my recommendations every week (and you have, haven't you?), then you're fully prepared to jump into Twisted Metal 3 this weekend. I've been building you up through the series not only to prepare for the third and fourth game to come to the service this month, but also the return of the show. Even if you're not interested in tuning in, these last two entries in the car combat series are still a blast to play for some quick, mindless fun this weekend. They're not huge leaps above the original two, but steamline the experience and smooth over some of the edges. Twisted Metal 3 is available now on PS4 and PS5.

PlayStation fans receive eight major games worth more than £300 for FREE
PLAYSTATION fans are set to receive eight games worth £300 free of charge. PlayStation Plus allows subscribers to its service the opportunity to try out exciting new games every month. 1 And throughout July, players have sweeping access to eight fresh releases. These include Cyberpunk 2077 - an open-world, action-adventure role-playing game set in the dark future of Night City. Abiotic Factor is also on the shortlist, where up to six players must join forces to survive the depths of an underground research facility. RPG fans may prefer to opt for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden where those who dare enter can spar with supernatural creatures. For kids, Bluey: The Videogame is a welcome addition to the line up and is based on the popular children's television series of the same name. Other games on the July roster include management simulation game Planet Zoo, Risk of Rain 2, Tropico 6 and New World: Aeternum. GAMES DISAPPEAR FROM SCREENS The fresh releases will be welcome news to fans after it was revealed that six titles will vanish within days. The games aren't being deleted – you can still buy them outright if you want to keep playing. But all six will be removed from the PS Plus catalogue across all tiers of the membership on July 15, 2025. And it affects gamers playing on the PS5, PS4, PSVR 2, and PSVR. Watch trailer for RoboCop-Rogue City game that's FREE to claim on PlayStation The list of games is as follows: Remnant II Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII – Reunion Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong Dying Light 2: Stay Human Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord Job Simulator Importantly, these games will become unplayable for PS Plus subscribers even if you've already downloaded them. These aren't "claim" games that you install and keep forever. In a Reddit thread about the change, fans were panicked that they wouldn't have time to play all of the games. "Welp I've been putting off Dying Light 2 because I heard it isn't great, but I guess it's now or never," wrote one gamer. Another gamer replied: "Me too. I just gave it another shot after playing it for 30 mins a month ago and not feeling it. Starting to get into it now. "Now I'm worried I may not have enough time." GLITCHY RELEASE Elsewhere, PlayStation fans urged gamers to avoid a free title they say is glitchy – and not even worth playing. Ark: Survival Ascended is one of the free games available to play with PlayStation Plus this month. But some gamers say they're having trouble with the action-adventure survival title on PlayStation consoles. One player posting to Reddit said that they spent hours playing the game – only to lose all of their progress, as spotted by ComicBook. "I love crafting survival games, so I was very excited when this was announced to be on PS Plus," the user explained. "I played it for about five hours. Save and close out, take a break. "When I come back to it? Save file is gone completely.
