Nicki Minaj demands $200M from Jay-Z: ‘Settle this karmic debt'
Nicki Minaj is demanding a massive payout from Jay-Z, claiming he owes her between $100 million and $200 million. In a series of pointed posts on X (formerly Twitter) Tuesday (July 8), the rap queen called on Jay-Z to settle what she described as a 'karmic debt' — and she already has plans for how she'll use the money. 'We've calculated about 100–200MM so far. #JayZ call me to settle this karmic debt. It's only collecting more interest,' Minaj wrote. 'You still in my TOP 5 tho.' She added a warning to fans: 'Anyone still calling him Hov will answer to God for the blasphemy.' We've calculated about 100-200MM so far. #JayZ call me to settle this karmic debt. It's only collecting more interest. You still in my TOP 5 tho. Let's get it nigga. And anyone still calling him Hov will answer to God for the blasphemy. — Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) July 8, 2025 In a follow-up, she announced her intention to give back to her loyal fanbase, writing: 'I'm going to use some of the money #JayZ owes me to send some of my Barbz to college, pay their school fees & student loans via my #StudentOfTheGame charity.' I'm going to use some of the money #JayZ owes me to send some of my Barbz to college, pay their school fees & student loans via my #StudentOfTheGame charity. — Nicki Minaj (@NICKIMINAJ) July 8, 2025 The feud escalates long-running tension between Minaj and Jay-Z, especially over the TIDAL streaming platform. Fans recently resurfaced posts claiming Minaj never received her fair cut from the TIDAL deal, which Jay-Z sold to Jack Dorsey's Square in 2021 for around $300 million. Minaj alleges she was only offered $1 million. Adding fuel to the fire, Minaj also referenced Jay-Z in her remix of Lil Wayne's 'Banned From NO,' criticizing the NFL's decision to select Kendrick Lamar over Wayne for the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Jay-Z has yet to respond to the accusations. Reps for TIDAL and Roc Nation have also remained silent as the controversy continues to unfold.

Nicki Minaj Loses Out On A New No. 1 To Her ‘America Idol' Rival
Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne's "Banned From NO" hits No. 1 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart but is ... More blocked from the top spot on the R&B/Hip-Hop list by Mariah Carey. PASADENA, CA - JANUARY 08: (L-R) Judges Mariah Carey, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj of "American Idol" speak onstage during the FOX portion of the 2013 Winter TCA Tour at Langham Hotel on January 8, 2013 in Pasadena, California. (Photo by Frederick M. Brown/Getty Images) Nicki Minaj makes a somewhat surprising return to the No. 1 spot on a single Billboard ranking this week. The celebrated rapper joined her longtime friend and collaborator Lil Wayne on a remix of his track "Banned From NO," taken from his new album Tha Carter VI. Once Minaj hopped on the updated version of what was originally a solo cut, it became a strong seller. Thanks to her massive and dedicated fanbase, the tune leads one tally — though it narrowly misses out on ruling another list, edged out by a fellow female powerhouse who was once seen as a true rival. Nicki Minaj Loses No. 1 to Mariah Carey "Banned From NO" opens in the runner-up space on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart this frame. It just misses giving both Minaj and Wayne another chart-topper, as "Type Dangerous," Mariah Carey's new single, starts at No. 1. Minaj and Carey served as judges on American Idol together during the twelfth season of the reality series, which began in January 2013. It was the only time the two sat on the judging panel simultaneously. The season was marked by numerous on-air spats between the two stars. They traded barbs both on camera and in the press for years afterward, and there was clearly tension between them. More than a decade has passed since that very public feud, and while they almost never mention each other anymore, it appears they still find themselves in competition on the charts from time to time. Mariah Carey Still Trails Nicki Minaj Carey may win the race to No. 1 this frame on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales chart, but Minaj remains far more successful overall. As "Type Dangerous" arrives, it becomes Carey's third No. 1 and her seventh top 10 on the list of the bestselling R&B, hip-hop, or rap tracks in America. Minaj, by comparison, has earned 27 No. 1s. As "Banned From NO" debuts, it becomes her one-hundred-and-sixth top 10 smash. To put their chart histories into perspective: Minaj has more No. 1s on the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales ranking than Carey has total appearances, as "Type Dangerous" is just her twenty-sixth showing. Nicki Minaj Does Hit No. 1 on Other Charts "Banned From NO" does manage to open atop the Rap Digital Song Sales chart, a list for which "Type Dangerous" was not eligible. It also enters the all-genre Digital Song Sales ranking at No. 5 — just one space below Carey's new tune. According to Luminate, the tracks were separated by fewer than 100 purchases.

Nicki Minaj's Mentor Helps Her Earn A New No. 1
Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne's 'Banned From NO' remix launches atop the Rap Digital Song Sales chart, ... More marking her twenty-fourth No. 1 and his fourteenth on the tally. NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MARCH 30: (Exclusive Coverage) Nicki Minaj performs onstage during her Pink Friday 2 World Tour at Madison Square Garden on March 30, 2024 in New York City. (Photo byfor Live Nation) Nicki Minaj has been teasing a new album since the fall of 2024, but so far, details about when fans will hear another project remain vague. She originally announced a special deluxe edition of Pink Friday 2 was on the way, but just days after getting fans' hopes up, she revealed that she had changed her mind. Instead of continuing her Pink Friday 2 era, the rapper decided to focus her efforts on a brand new full-length. Since then, Minaj has been largely quiet, likely hard at work on whatever is coming next. The hip-hop superstar did make time recently to join her friend and longtime collaborator Lil Wayne on a remix of one of his recent tunes, and their combined efforts have produced another smash for the duo. Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne Debut at No. 1 Minaj and Wayne debut their new tune 'Banned From NO' at No. 1 on the Rap Digital Song Sales chart. Wayne earns his fourteenth career champion on Billboard's list of the top-selling rap tracks in the United States, while Minaj beats him by 10 smashes. Nicki Minaj Hits 100 Top 10s Minaj also comes out on top when looking at the total number of top 10s both artists have collected, as 'Banned From NO' marks her one-hundredth smash to reach that uppermost region. Wayne, who has collected 75 top 10s, wins when it comes to total appearances on the ranking. He increases his total to 168 placements, while Minaj trails by just a few, and she's now up to 160. Lil Wayne Lands Four New Hits Wayne dominates the Rap Digital Song Sales chart this week with four placements on the 10-spot roster. In addition to 'Banned From NO,' three other tracks taken from his recently-released Tha Carter VI album make the list. 'Sharks' with Jelly Roll and Big Sean, 'Hip-Hop' with BigXthaPlug and J. Jones, and his solo cut 'Welcome to Tha Carter' open at Nos. 5, 8, and 9, respectively. 'Banned From NO' Remix Sells 5,000 Copies Luminate reports that in its first several days of availability, the remix version of 'Banned From NO' — which was originally a solo cut by Wayne on Tha Carter VI — sold 5,000 copies. That sum is enough to help the tune debut inside the top five on both the R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales and the all-genre Digital Song Sales tallies.

Shannon Sharpe Responds To Nicki Minaj Mentioning Him On 'Banned From NO (Remix)'
Lil Wayne's Tha Carter VI made landfall earlier this month and has spawned several different headlines from its aftermath. The bonus version made waves thanks to a new verse from Nicki Minaj on 'Banned From NO,' where she called out figures like JAY-Z and Shannon Sharpe. The latter caught wind of the mention and issued a response addressing the entire situation. On the song, the Queens rapstress spit, ''Bout to cop you slides, all you do is flip-flop/ If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain't that Sharpe.' Sharpe got on the mic on the latest episode of Nightcap and cleared up the miscommunication that caused the diss. 'I was talking about Nikki Haley,' the retired NFL star explained, referencing a 'Nicki who?' tweet he posted in Feburary that was taken out of context. 'Nikki Haley said it's really great for everybody of Black America, and I was like … 'When has it ever been great?'' Minaj herself confirmed this was why she wasn't thrilled with Sharpe, as she tweeted after the song dropped: 'Yeah ni*a you thought I forgot that 'Nicki who' sh*t you did?' The ESPN commentator continued by addressing the Pinkprint 2 creator directly and making it clear he did not mean to shade her. 'Nicki, I was not trying to be disrespectful. Of course, I know who you are. I would be remiss to say that I thought you knew who I was, or that you knew anything about Club Shay Shay. I'm not that arrogant,' he said. 'Nicki, I apologize. I meant no disrespect. You'll always have an open invitation if you ever want to come sit down and have a conversation. Even if you just want to have a private conversation on the phone or something. It won't go any further between you and I.' Listen to Nicki's 'Banned From NO' verse below and Shannon's response above. On the same track, Nicki also took aim at the NFL and JAY-Z by rapping, 'NFL, fire some ni**as and then call us!' The line seemingly stems from the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans, which included Lil Wayne voicing that he felt directly snubbed for not being chosen to perform. Hov's close affiliation with the sports league, specifically his direct involvement with the halftime show, is well-known, leading people to assume Nicki was taking a jab at her fellow New York legend. Nicki Minaj Reunites With Lil Wayne for Fiery ‘Banned From NO (Remix)': Listen
It's a Young Money reunion and the remix, baby. After Nicki Minaj was noticeably absent from Tha Carter VI, the Queen reunited with Lil Wayne for the 'Banned From NO (Remix)' on Wednesday (June 11). Fans were disappointed after a rumored C6 collaboration didn't come to fruition, but the latest chapter in the Nicki-Wayne lyrical marriage arrived less than a week later, while Minaj emptied the clip with a fiery verse on 'Banned From NO (Remix).' The Queens icon then dives head-first into her bristling verse, which finds her sniping at NFL player-turned-podcast host Shannon Sharpe, who has been critical of Minaj in the past. 'If I send a pic of Shannon you ain't that Sharpe/ Cause you still can't spell Prague and that's horrible,' she raps. Minaj then salutes a classic Wayne bar from the Pharrell-produced 'Yes.' 'Weezy F Baby and the F is for Phenomenal,' she mimics. Before leaving the burning booth, Nicki wasn't done and she sent a shot at the NFL about their choices for the Super Bowl Halftime Show, which overlooked Wayne in his hometown earlier this year. 'NFL, fire some n—s and then call us,' she spews in defense of the Young Money boss. Tha Carter VI arrived on Friday (June 6) filled with 19 tracks and features from Kodak Black, MGK, Bono, BigXthaPlug, Jelly Roll and Big Sean. The 'Banned From NO (Remix)' marks the first Weezy-Minaj collaboration since 2023's 'RNB' from Pink Friday 2. Listen to the 'Banned From NO (Remix)' below.
