BSP neta's daughter, youth found dead in Ayodhya hotel
Ayodhya: In a suspected case of murder-suicide, daughter of a Bahujan Samaj Party functionary was shot dead by her 22-year-old 'friend', who then turned the weapon on himself. Their bodies were found in a locked room at a homestay near Devkali bypass in Ayodhya on Sunday evening.
The woman was identified as Aroma Rawat and the youth as Ayush Kumar Gupta. Police said the duo had checked into the homestay around 10:10am on Sunday and was allotted room number 103 on the second floor.
Around 5pm, a waiter knocked at their door to deliver tea, but received no response. The homestay owner alerted police. A team led by circle officer, Ayodhya, Ashutosh Tiwari, arrived and broke open the door. Both the victims were lying on the bed with gunshot wounds on their foreheads.
A pistol was found near Ayush's leg with two cartridges on the floor.
Forensic experts and SP (city) Chakrapani Tripathi also reached the spot on receiving the news, and collected evidence. Police ruled out the possibility of third-party involvement, as the room was locked from inside.
Aroma was the daughter of Barabanki BSP district president KK Rawat and was a nursing student in Ayodhya. She had left home on July 2.

Her uncle Dhirendra Kumar, a head constable posted in Hardoi, confirmed her identity.
Police suspect the two victims had met on social media and came from different castes. They are probing if societal pressure was behind their death.
It has emerged that the hotel took only Ayush's Aadhaar ID when the duo checked in, and did not collect any ID from the woman, complicating early identification. Police are now questioning a man named Murari Yadav, who contacted authorities claiming to know Aroma.
