Michelle Obama Says She Disagreed With Barack's Parenting Style
Michelle Obama Says She Disagreed With Barack's Parenting Style originally appeared on Parade. Michelle Obama revealed that she was not on board with a specific parenting technique husband Barack Obama used on their daughters, Sasha and Malia, when they were younger. The Ferber Method, created by Dr. Richard Ferber, instructs new parents to let their infants 'cry it out' for a certain amount of time before going to comfort them. 'I didn't want to do it,' the former First Lady told social psychologist Jonathan Haidt on the June 25 episode of her 'IMO' podcast. 'Barack did it and I don't know that I could have done it because I wasn't sure about it — the notion that you just let the little person that you love cry and cry. Maybe it was something about estrogen and my response to the crying.' Michelle continued, 'We set it up where Barack took the night shift. I went to bed, which was helpful because it got me some sleep. I would have to cover my ears so that I couldn't literally hear the crying.' Fortunately, Michelle said that the method 'took no longer than a week' for it to work and it was 'really the first two nights' that were the hardest. She and Barack began using the method shortly after they weaned one of their daughters off of breastfeeding at around 'four or five months old.' 🎬 SIGN UP for Parade's Daily newsletter to get the latest pop culture news & celebrity interviews delivered right to your inbox 🎬 'It was very early so she learned quickly,' she added. 'The sooner that you start, sort of, removing the symptom, the quicker you start to implement the action, the more responsive the child is sooner.' Barack and Michelle began dating in 1989, shortly after they met at the Chicago law firm Sidley Austin. He got down on one knee two years later and proposed. The longtime couple officially tied the knot in 1992, and six years later they welcomed their first daughter, Malia. Three years later, Sasha was born. Michelle Obama says she is ‘so glad' she didn't have a son: ‘Would have been a Barack Obama'
She's not kidding around. Former first lady Michelle Obama said she was 'glad' she didn't have a son because he would have turned out exactly like her husband, former President Barack Obama. Obama, 61, doled out the ego-checking barb on Wednesday's episode of 'IMO,' the podcast she hosts with her brother Craig Robinson, as the siblings were chatting with Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez, who suggested the mother of two 'should have threw a boy in the mix.' 'I'm so glad I didn't have a boy,' Sasha and Malia's mom plainly stated. 'Because he would have been a Barack Obama. Ooh,' the 'Becoming' author said, looking down and shaking her head for emphasis. Michelle Obama, 61, said she was glad not to have a son because he would have turned out exactly like her husband, former President Barack Obama. Getty Images 'Baby Barack! It would have been amazing,' Martinez enthusiastically countered. 'No, I woulda felt for him,' Obama said. The episode focused extensively on parenting male children as Martinez has one son and Robinson has three boys. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Obama's musings pointed to a potential preoccupation with her 32-year marriage to the former president — which many have speculated is on the rocks. 'Teach [your son] about how to deal with the traffic stop, but also teach him how to communicate in a marriage and to be a listening father,' Obama said before scoffing at the idea of having a baby Barack. Barack and Michelle on a date night as many speculate that their marriage could be headed for divorce. Michelle Obama/instagram Despite the possibly unintended jab, Michelle praised her hubby for his parenting prowess just last week in an interview with rock legend — and noted Democrat — Bruce Springsteen. 'I think Barack is just like you as a tremendous father, doing it in a lot of grandeur, right,' Obama told The Boss on the June 11 'IMO.' As rumors of the couple's divorce swirled, the Obamas went on a high-visibility date in Midtown Manhattan at the swanky Lowell Hotel restaurant last month and were seen cozying up on another restaurant date in Washington, DC, in April. The 'Overcoming' scribe revealed that she is currently in therapy and is 'transitioning' to a different phase of her life.

Michelle Obama's loving message to Barack days after ending divorce rumours: ‘He has always been there, no matter what'
Just weeks after shutting down persistent divorce rumors, Michelle Obama took to social media with a heartfelt Father's Day tribute to her husband, Barack Obama — reaffirming their enduring bond and silencing speculation once again. In a post shared Sunday, the former First Lady posted a nostalgic photo of the couple with their daughters Malia, 26, and Sasha, 24, from their childhood years. 'I love looking back at photos like this of when our girls were younger,' Michelle wrote. '@BarackObama has always been there for us no matter what — even when it felt like the weight of the world was on his shoulders. We've always been so grateful.' She ended the note with a warm Father's Day message: 'To Barack and all the dads and father-figures celebrating today, Happy Father's Day! ❤️' The touching message comes shortly after Michelle addressed growing speculation about trouble in her marriage. In a candid appearance on The Diary of a CEO podcast in early May, she firmly dispelled the rumors. 'If I were having problems with my husband, everybody would know about it,' she said. 'I would be problem-solving in public. I'm not a martyr.' Michelle, who now co-hosts the 'IMO' podcast with her brother Craig Robinson, further emphasised that her family is open and communicative. 'My family would know, Craig would know. I'm not one of those people who hides,' she added. The speculation about her marriage was partly fueled by her decision to skip Donald Trump's second inauguration, which she addressed for the first time in April. Speaking on her podcast, she said, 'My decision to skip the inauguration — or my decision to make choices at the beginning of this year that suited me — were met with such ridicule and criticism.' She stressed that the decision had nothing to do with her relationship with Barack: 'People couldn't believe I was saying no for any other reason. They had to assume my marriage was falling apart.' Michelle also opened up about therapy and the importance of setting boundaries — a theme that resonates in her recent posts. 'Going through therapy is getting me to look at the fact that maybe, maybe finally I'm good enough,' she said. 'It's a muscle that you have to build… and I want my girls to start practicing different strategies for saying 'no.'' Her Father's Day tribute not only underscored her love for Barack, but also reflected a message of family strength and support — one that resonates deeply amid public scrutiny.

Michelle Obama Shuts Down Divorce Rumors With Sweet Father's Day Tribute to Barack
Michelle Obama honored her husband, former President Barack Obama, on Father's Day, reflecting on the couple again with warmth and solidarity after months of speculation about their relationship. Posting a throwback photo of Barack posing with daughters Malia, 26, and Sasha, 24, the former first lady shared her thoughts about the family dynamic. A post shared by instagram Her post was reminiscent of what Barack posted for her on Mother's Day in May, when he wrote, "@MichelleObama, the girls and I are so lucky to have you in our lives. We love you." The couple's show of unity follows months of speculation about the state of their relationship. Michelle set the record straight as she discussed the rumors during an appearance on the "Work in Progress" podcast with Sophia Bush in April. Her absence from high-profile events earlier this year, such as President Jimmy Carter's funeral and the inauguration of Donald Trump, had led to rumors of a feud. Without referencing these events, Michelle said, "I'm at the point in my life where I'm making a set of decisions for myself.." Some people, she added,"couldn't even fathom that I was making a choice for myself, that they had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing." Michelle pointed to the societal pressures placed on women, saying, "That's the thing that we as women struggle with: disappointing people." She added during the podcast that she "chose to do what was best for me. Not what I had to do. Not what I thought other people wanted me to do." A 32-Year Marriage The Obamas, who were married in 1992, marked their 32nd wedding anniversary in October. In interviews in the past and in her best-selling memoir, "Becoming," Michelle has publicly discussed how the pressures of Barack's political career strained their relationship, and that his wanting more was often too much of a reminder of how alone it could leave her. The mom-of-two reiterated about their marriage during a podcast appearance on "The Diary of A CEO" in May, stating clearly, "That's not who we are," and adding, "I know that about him. He knows that about me." Originally published on Enstarz Michelle Obama Barack obama

Barack And Michelle Obama Share Rare Photo With Daughters
At just 10 and 7 years old, Malia and Sasha Obama's lives were flipped upside-down when their dad became the president of the United States in 2008. And so, it's hardly surprising that they've both opted for privacy as adults. For context, both Barack and Michelle have talked about their daughters' shared desire to keep out of the 'limelight' since leaving the White House in 2017, with the former president saying last year that the girls 'go out of their way to not try to leverage' their famous last name. While promoting her book, The Light We Carry, in 2022, Michelle also said she's extra conscious of how much she talks publicly about her daughters in order to protect their privacy. 'You have to pull back on how much you share about their lives and how much you put them back out in the public eye because they're not looking for the attention,' she told People En Español. While the sisters are occasionally photographed by paparazzi, they don't use public social media accounts, and it's not often that we get new pictures of them together with their parents. Which brings us to now, and Barack and Michelle have each posted a sweet family photo on Instagram in honor of Sasha's 24th birthday — and don't they look great?!!?? Barack captioned his post: 'Happy birthday, Sasha! Watching you grow into the incredible woman you are has been a true gift. I'll always be proud of you and will always be here for you.' While the former first lady wrote: 'Happy birthday to my sweet girl, Sasha! Can't believe how quickly time has flown. I'm so proud of the woman you've become. Love you always! 💕🥳🎉' It seems the girls are thriving in life! And looking incredibly stylish while they do it.
