Food Prices Soar Under National
The latest food price figures show the cost of living crisis is only getting worse under National. 'Christopher Luxon promised to make the cost of living better, instead, he's making it worse,' Labour finance and economy spokesperson Barbara Edmonds said. 'It's no wonder 47,000 people chose to leave for Australia last year. 'Prices on everyday groceries, like milk, cheese, and meat, are all through the roof. Butter is up nearly 50 percent from this time last year, all due to National's failure to bring down costs. 'National has abandoned New Zealanders. While families struggle to pay the bills, Christopher Luxon is looking after property speculators and fossil fuel companies. 'He is out of touch with what our communities need. Labour's number one priority will be to help people with the cost of living,' Barbara Edmonds said.

Willis Misses Own Deadline To Fix FamilyBoost
National's failed cost-of-living programme includes yet another broken promise, with Nicola Willis today ignoring her own deadline to fix the botched FamilyBoost scheme. 'Nicola Willis has failed to fix FamilyBoost by the end of June as she promised. Whether it's cost of living support, delivering on ferries, or fixing our broken healthcare system, this government has proved time and time again that they cannot be trusted to keep their promises,' Labour finance and economy spokesperson Barbara Edmonds said. 'First, Nicola Willis admitted that she can't identify even a single family that has received the full $250 per fortnight tax cut that she promised during the campaign. 'Recognising what a disaster it's been, Nicola Willis promised she would announce fixes to FamilyBoost by the end of June, but even that was just another empty promise. June has come and gone and struggling families are still waiting for relief. 'National has no problem moving quickly when it comes to scrapping women's pay or giving handouts to landlords and tobacco companies. But when it comes to delivering on their own promises to make life more affordable it's all talk and no action. 'It just shows how out of touch they are with the real pressures people are under. Kiwis need real solutions to the cost-of-living crisis, not more empty promises from this government,' Barbara Edmonds said.

Nicola Willis Misleading On Job Numbers
Finance Minister Nicola Willis is misleading Kiwis by claiming she's created jobs when she hasn't. 'In today's Finance and Expenditure Committee hearing, Nicola Willis said that their policies will create 240,000 jobs, but those jobs are because of population growth, not because of her Budget,' Labour finance and economy spokesperson Barbara Edmonds said. 'In fact, there are 30,000 fewer jobs now than when they took office, and Treasury says 20,000 more people will be unemployed at the end of the forecast period. 'She acts like there is a surge in opportunity, but really she's spinning her terrible economic mismanagement to suit her. 'Just like her story on the cost of living, which is falling to pieces before her eyes as she can't find a single family who has received her campaign promise of $250 a fortnight. 'Today will also come as a shock to those who were expecting a Working for Families top up of $7 a week, as promised in the recent Budget – because that won't come in for another year. 'It was the only cost of living relief Nicola Willis could name on Budget Day and it isn't actually going to help anyone until April 2026. 'This Government is misleading on jobs, outlandishly overstating their tax cuts, and have failed to deliver on key cost of living promises. At the same time, they're cutting women's pay in favour of big tax breaks for tobacco, fossil fuel, and big tech companies,' Barbara Edmonds said.
