Charli XCX brings Brat back to Glastonbury in electric performance
Charli XCX brought Brat back to Glastonbury Festival on Saturday night in an electric performance that saw her dancing along with an energetic crowd. Her set on the Other Stage marked just over a year following the release of her culture-shaping sixth studio album, which inspired the 'Brat summer' trend. Advertisement 'It's summertime and I was thinking about last summer – did anyone have a Brat summer?' she said. The singer, wearing an all-black ensemble including sunglasses and knee-high boots, began her set with 360 and Von Dutch. The 32-year-old played her Partygirl set at the festival in 2024, but this time the singer took to a much bigger stage amid a year that has seen her pick up a slew of awards. She launched into upbeat dance track Club Classics after the two opening songs. Advertisement 'These are all of my people who are going to (late night music venue) Block9 tonight', she said. Alongside the songs from her new album, she performed tracks from her back catalogue, treating revellers to Unlock It (Lock It), Party 4 U, Vroom Vroom, and Speed Drive – which appeared on the Barbie movie soundtrack. Performing her viral Apple dance at the show was US singer Gracie Abrams who had played on the same stage a day earlier. Before ending her set on crowd-pleasing number one hit I Love It, featuring Icona Pop, she danced while water poured down from the stage ceiling amid a rendition of Blame It On Your Love. In recent months the singer, real name Charlotte Aitchison, has been performing at festivals across the globe, including Coachella in California, Primavera Sound in Barcelona and a headline slot at Lido Festival in London. Following the release of Brat, her infectious electronic-pop tracks soared up the charts and inspired a trend, with fans embracing the 'Brat summer' cultural movement. She also secured album of the year, artist of the year, dance act, and song of the year for her track Guess featuring Eilish. In February she picked up three awards at the Grammys and she was named songwriter of the year at The Ivors in May.

Charli XCX showcases her stage style in micro leather hotpants and sheer top as she headlines Party Girl Festival in London
Charli XCX ensured all eyes were on her as she launched her very own Party Girl Festival on Saturday. The singer, 32, was headlining at Lido Field in Victoria Park to 35,000 people, just over a year since she released her BRAT album and took over the music world. The chart topper - who had handpicked every act on the line-up herself, to ensure the perfect vibe - turned up the heat as she took to the stage in some leather microshorts emblazoned 'XCX' and a yellow bra with feather detailing as she belted out her hits to the crowd. She put her svelte frame on display in the flesh-baring outfit which she paired with some knee high boots. Charli clearly put a lot of effort into her first ever Party Girl festival, as she was seen oozing confidence and writhing around the stage during energetic dance routines. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. As she sipped an Aperol spritz, and lit up a cigarette, she performed an array of songs from the viral remix album, including Von Dutch, 365 Remix, Girl and So Confusing. She also performed Speed Drive from the Barbie soundtrack, 2012's mega hit I Love It and Blame It On Your Love and turned the stage into a club with strobe flashing lights, heavy techno beats and a waterfall. Amelia Dimoldenberg, known for Chicken Shop Date, performed the viral TikTok dance for Charli's song 'Apple', whilst Swedish artist Bladee hit the stage with Charli for a high-energy performance of the 'Rewind' remix, which sent the crowd into a frenzy. Normal People's Paul Mescal was also spotted fully embracing the party atmosphere as the night unfolded. At the end of the hour-long performance, Charli left fans with a written message displayed on the stage's screen with flashing lights that read: 'Brat' summer is over. But actually… I don't think it is. 'So tell me the truth: Will you hate me if I stick around? 'Because honestly I don't know who I am if it's over. And so… I've decided I want this to last forever. It wasn't just a summer thing… it's a forever thing. Please don't let it be over.' Earlier on in the day, Charli went completely unnoticed as she watched some performances in the crowd ahead of her headline show. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Amelia Dimoldenberg (@ameliadimz) She was seen enjoying the rest of the festival, smoking a cigarette while watching Japanese House on the main stage. The songstress recently opened up about her next album, admitting that she's prepared for it 'to be a flop.' Charli, whose real name is Charlotte Emma Aitchison, reached a major career milestone with the release of her sixth album last year. It became her highest-charting record, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and even earning her a Grammy Award. However, in a new interview, Charli revealed that commercial success isn't her main focus going forward. She explained that maintaining creative freedom is far more important to her than chasing chart positions. Speaking to Culted at the Cannes International Film Festival, she said: 'I don't really feel the pressure to create another record like 'Brat' because when I was making it, even though I really believed in it and totally knew what I wanted to do with it, I had no idea how it would be received. 'I was really doing it for myself and marketing it in the way I wanted to for myself but I had no clue that people would kind of connect to it in the way that they did,' she said. Charli also hinted that her next album will take a completely different direction. 'You can never really do the same thing twice and my next record will probably be a flop which I'm down for to be honest,' she added.
