Glasgow roads will be closed for 'exclusive event'
Checkout Scotland 2025 will take place at the Barras Art & Design (BAaD) on August 28. Run by GroceryAid, the event is an 'exclusive music event' where independent retailing businesses, wholesalers, national supports, and home-grown brands meet up to celebrate the work of Scotland's grocery and convenience industry. However, ahead of the event, Glasgow City Council has warned drivers that two roads in the city's East End will be shut during it. From 3pm on August 27 until 12pm on August 29, drivers won't be able to stop, load, or unload their vehicles on Moncur Street between Bain Street and Kent Street, and Gibson Street between Moncur Street and Gallowgate. Meanwhile, from 8am on August 28 until 12pm on August 29, road users will be banned from driving on Moncur Street between Bain Street and Kent Street, and Gibson Street between Moncur Street and Gallowgate.

Peter Tobin detective brings true crime show to Glasgow
David Swindle, best known for his work on the Tobin case and leading Operation Anagram, will be on stage at Barras Art & Design for 'Murder: A Search for the Truth' on October 12. Mr Swindle will explore the realities of murder investigations alongside Sunday Mail columnist, broadcaster, and publicist Heather Suttie. "This tour is a rare chance to hear real stories and understand the truth behind the headlines." With more than 30 years of experience in policing, Mr Swindle has been involved in hundreds of murder cases, supporting families and cracking major crimes. The event will delve into some of the UK's most challenging investigations, including suspicious deaths abroad and unresolved cases at home. Ms Suttie will pose the questions the public wants answered. Together, they will examine why killers commit their crimes and whether it is possible to identify them before they strike. Callum Beattie and Peter Andre to headline Checkout Scotland
The Scottish Committee of GroceryAid confirmed Callum Beattie and Peter Andre will perform at the trade-only festival on August 28 at the Barras Art & Design. The event, which is already seeing tickets sell quickly, will host more than 600 retail industry colleagues for a night of music, while raising awareness and funds for GroceryAid, a charity supporting individuals in the grocery industry.
