Andy Murray admits he made huge mistake after split from Kim
Andy Murray admits he made huge mistake after split from Kim 'It wasn't really me," the two-time Wimbledon champion admitted Murray opened up on his relationship with Kim as part of his stage show Andy Murray has opened up about the big mistake he made in the wake of his brief split with his partner Kim, admitting that it "wasn't really me". The two-time Wimbledon champion has been married to Kim - the daughter of tennis coach Nigel Sears - since 2015, having met at a party during the US Open a decade earlier. The couple tied the knot in Murray's hometown of Dunblane after dating for nine years, but their relationship was not always smooth sailing. In 2009, they shockingly split up, with Kim 'winning custody' of their dog Maggie as they looked set to go their separate ways, However, they got back together six months later, with Murray admitting at the time that he "works better in a relationship". But while they rekindled their relationship and went on to have four children together, the split saw the tennis star act highly out of character as he splashed the cash on a sports car. Recalling the brief break-up during his Centre Stage show at the New Wimbledon Theatre earlier this week, Murray admitted: "'I bought a Ferrari. I called it Barry the Ferrari. Article continues below "I thought it was cool, but it didn't last very long. The first day I took it out to drive, it got pulled over by the police because the insurance hadn't cleared. "I got rid of it over a couple of months, because it wasn't really me.' After getting back together with Kim, Murray admitted at the time: "I work better in a relationship. At the end of the day, especially if I've lost a match, I don't like talking about tennis, so it's nice to have someone to talk to about other stuff." Since 2013, the couple have owned their wedding venue, the five-star Cromlix House Hotel, while Kim is also a talented artist and had a website called Brushes and Paws where she would share her portraits of animals and flowers. Murray has frequently praised his wife for her love and support, as he told the New York Times during his playing career: "She doesn't like being in the newspapers, and people commenting on what she's wearing and how she looks, and those sorts of things. "That's one of the things that I guess she's also sacrificed, a little bit, for our relationship, and I appreciate that a lot. "You're in these huge cities meeting new people all the time and it would be easy to get your head turned," he added. "But Kim's always been there for me. She really cares about me and helps with so many things. She always has. That's why we have such a great relationship." However, while Kim has been Murray's number one supporter through his playing career and now in retirement, she has taken her passionate support too on occasion. During her husband's Australian Open semi-final win against Tomas Berdych in 2015, the camera panned to her in the stands and she was infamously caught on live TV saying: "F****** have that you flash Czech f***". Murray defended her following that match, saying: "When there's a lot of tension surrounding something, which you [the media] created [by referring to the fact his former assistant coach Dani Vallverdu then coached Berdych], then it's completely normal. 'The whole first set everyone was tight. My physical trainer, physio, I'm sure for Dani it was uncomfortable. Even Tomas, who very rarely says anything on the court, there was tension there for him, as well. Yeah, in the heat of the moment you can say stuff that you regret. And, yeah, that's it.' Kim later poked fun at the moment as she appeared at the final in a t-shirt that read: 'Parental Advisory: Explicit Content'. After Murray was awarded a knighthood in the Queen's New Year Honours the following year, he joked that his wife would have to mind her language upon becoming a Lady, as he laughed: "She's going to have to [do] no more swearing during my matches any more, for any of you who saw that a few years ago." However, it appears Kim has not entirely abandoned the bad language, as Murray revealed a text exchange between him and his wife while on stage during Sunday night's show in Wimbledon. Article continues below 'At one of the shows we did a few nights ago, I messaged her during the half-time interval, asking, 'Is everyone OK?'," he said, as he revealed that Kim had been looking after their four-year-old daughter Lola at the time. "She replied, 'It has been a f***ing shambles. Lola's being a t***. Hope the show's going better than this!".

Andy Murray's split from wife Kim saw Wimbledon icon splurge on purchase before being pulled over by police
Wimbledon icon Sir Andy Murray has opened up on a difficult period in his relationship with wife Kim Sears, revealing a rare moment of impulsiveness from 2008 that ended in disaster As Wimbledon 2025 gets up and running, British tennis legend Sir Andy Murray has shared a rare insight into a turbulent period in his otherwise steady relationship with wife Kim Sears. The Scottish icon recalled an unexpected tale from more than 10 years ago when a temporary split from Sears led to a spontaneous purchase and a close encounter with the law. The couple tied the knot in 2015 and are widely seen as something of an iconic pairing on the tennis scene. Their relationship has withstood the immense pressures of Murray's career, including the nerve-wracking SW19 showdowns that kept spectators and family members alike on tenterhooks. From his historic Wimbledon title wins in 2013 and 2016 to the punishing matches that shaped his legacy, Sears has been a constant figure, standing by him through every triumph and setback. Together, they have four children and have forged a life grounded in mutual respect and collective resilience. However, the pair briefly went their separate ways in 2008, which left Murray in a state of shock. And the Glaswegian, who is due to be honoured with a statue outside the All England Club, has opened up about how he responded during a hurtful period in his life. During a recent live show (via the Daily Express), Murray revealed that he dealt with the emotional aftermath in a way that was completely out of the ordinary for him. He splashed out on a Ferrari, which he affectionately named "Barry the Ferrari." "I thought it was cool," the 38-year-old laughed. "The first day I took it out to drive, it got pulled over by the police because the insurance hadn't cleared. I got rid of it [after] a couple of months, because it wasn't really me." This incident sheds light on a more vulnerable aspect of Murray, who is typically known for his stoic public persona. However, there are rare exceptions to that rule, like the occasional tear shed on Centre Court. The temporary separation from Sears proved to be a turning point, ultimately fortifying their bond. Since getting back together, they have tackled life's hurdles side by side, from the pressures of Murray's career to the delights and challenges of marriage and raising children. The couple began their romance in 2005. Kim - the daughter of player-turned-coach Nigel Sears, who has worked with Emma Raducanu - immediately clicked with Andy due to their shared passion for tennis. They announced their engagement in 2014 and married the following year. The family now resides in Surrey with their son and three daughters. With Andy having hung up his rackets and coaching duties on hold, he theoretically has more time for family life. However, Kim playfully hinted that this isn't quite the reality as she joked: "He is playing so much f***ing golf." Despite the jest, it's clear their partnership has only strengthened over the years. Even if Murray does spend more time on the fairways than Kim might like. Murray recently told The Guardian he wouldn't be attending Wimbledon this year unless his children want to attend. And after 20 years together, Kim may be content with tennis commitments being put on hold.

Andy Murray splurged on Ferrari after Kim Sears split – but it ended in disaster
Sir Andy Murray has revealed he bought a Ferrari - nicknamed Barry - during a brief 2008 split from his now-wife Kim Sears Andy Murray has opened up about a chaotic chapter from his past - one that involved a break-up, a Ferrari named Barry, and an immediate run-in with the law. During a recent live show, the tennis legend reflected on the brief time he and his now-wife Kim Sears split back in 2008. The couple, who started dating in 2005 and married in 2015, hit a rough patch early on. Murray's way of coping was by splurging on a flashy new sports car. 'I bought a Ferrari,' he admitted. 'I called it Barry the Ferrari. I thought it was cool, but it didn't last very long.' However, the thrill was short-lived. 'The first day I took it out to drive, it got pulled over by the police because the insurance hadn't cleared,' he said. 'I got rid of it over a couple of months, because it wasn't really me.' The spontaneous purchase wasn't the only headline-worthy moment involving Murray and Kim, who has stood by his side through the highs and lows of his career. From emotional Centre Court finals to press and tournaments around the world, Kim's support has been a constant. She's also earned a reputation for her sharp tongue and zero-filter reactions. Most famously, at the 2015 Australian Open, Kim was caught mouthing off in the stands - seemingly calling rival player Tomas Berdych a 'Czech flash f***.' Not one to shy away from a moment, she returned to Andy's next match wearing a jumper that read: 'Parental Advisory: Explicit Content.' And it seems not much has changed. Murray recently shared a brutally honest exchange with Kim while he was performing on stage. 'At one of the shows we did a few nights ago, I messaged her during the half-time interval, asking, 'Is everyone OK?'' he recalled. 'She replied, 'It has been a f*ing shambles. Lola's being a tt. Hope the show's going better than this.'' The couple, who now have four children together, haven't lost their sense of humour in family life. Kim even took a playful jab at Andy's retirement, chiming in with: 'He is playing so much f***ing golf.' From accidental police run-ins to vulgar language, Murray's life off the court seems just as lively as his time on it.
