Rockies recall their No. 5-ranked prospect, outfielder Yanquiel Fernández
DENVER — The Colorado Rockies recalled outfielder Yanquiel Fernández, the organization's No. 5-ranked prospect, from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. The 22-year-old Fernández is batting .284 with 13 homers and 39 RBIs in 64 games for Albuquerque this season. The Rockies signed him for $295,000 as an international free agent out of Cuba in 2019, when he was 16.

Tigers' prized rookie Jackson Jobe to undergo Tommy John surgery
June 11 - Detroit Tigers rookie right-hander Jackson Jobe will undergo Tommy John surgery, the team announced Wednesday. Jobe last pitched for the Tigers against the San Francisco Giants on May 28, when he reported elbow discomfort following the outing. He was placed on the 15-day injured list two days later with a right flexor strain. Surgeries to repair the ulnar collateral ligament typically require a recovery period of 12 to 18 months, so it's possible Jobe will miss the entire 2026 season in addition to the rest of the current campaign. Jobe, 22, entered the season as Detroit's top pitching prospect. Jobe went 4-1 with a 4.22 ERA in 10 starts this season for the Tigers. He struck out 39 in 49 innings. He reached the majors late last season and pitched four shutout innings - allowing just one hit - over two relief appearances. He then was asked to relieve twice during the postseason, when he gave up three runs over 1 2/3 innings between a wild-card outing versus Houston and an ALDS appearance against Cleveland. Top prospect Roman Anthony gets first career hit in second MLB game
BOSTON — Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony, the top-rated prospect in all of baseball, hit a two-run double on Tuesday night in Boston's game against Tampa Bay for his first career base hit. A day after going hitless with an RBI groundout in his major league debut , Anthony came up with runners on second and third in the first inning and drove the ball to left to give the Red Sox a 2-0 lead. The 21-year-old second-round draft pick went viral over the weekend when he hit a 497-foot grand slam in Triple-A Worcester. He batted .288 with 10 homers and 29 RBIs in 58 games for the WooSox this season. Anthony's call-up on Monday was so sudden his parents didn't have time to make the trip from Florida, but they were at Fenway Park on Tuesday night to see his second game. ___ AP MLB:

Brewers to promote hard-throwing starter Jacob Misiorowski: Reports
Fresh off a start in which he threw 14 pitches over 100 mph, hard-throwing Milwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Jacob Misiorowski will be making his major-league debut on Thursday, according to various reports. Misiorowski, who ranked No. 87 in The Athletic's Keith Law's preseason top-100 prospect list, has a 2.13 ERA in 63 1/3 innings for Triple-A Nashville this season. He is the Brewers' top pitching prospect. Advertisement Misiorowski, 23, was a Brewers' second-round pick (No. 63) in the 2022 MLB Draft out of Crowder Junior College in Missouri. The 6-foot-7 right-hander has been one of the hardest throwing starters in minor-league baseball since turning pro. In his last start for the Sounds, Misiorowski threw 68 pitches, topping out at 101.5 mph. His fastball averaged 99.7 mph in that start and the slowest four-seamer he threw was clocked at 97.7. His fastball has been measured as high as 103 mph at various points this season. Misiorowski also throws a curveball, a changeup and a slider. The stuff has always been premium and with a 3.04 ERA in 233 2/3 career minor-league innings, Misiorowski has gotten good results in the minor leagues. But, like many hard-throwers, he's struggled badly with command at times, which has limited his ceiling as a starter. Last season at Double A and Triple A, he walked 60 in 97 1/3 innings and this season he has 31 walks in 63 1/3 innings. He's mostly been a starter but does have some experience relieving. Law says Misiorowski's arsenal is special but there are significant concerns about his mechanics and ability to command his pitches. 'Misiorowski has some of the best pure stuff of any pitcher in the minors, with a fastball that frequently touches 100 and has some ride up top and two breaking balls with high spin rates, with the slower one — you can call it a curveball, but the velocity is almost unheard of for that pitch — the more effective of the two. 'His mechanics are violent and he's never had anything approaching average command; for him to get there, he'd need to tone down the delivery, and that might take away from what makes his pitches so special. He's posted a lower walk rate this year but he's not actually throwing the ball in the zone any more often than he did in 2024. There just aren't long-term starters in the big leagues who pitch like he does; either he's an extreme outlier or he's going to end up in the bullpen, where he could be the inheritor of the throne previously occupied by Josh Hader and Devin Williams.' Advertisement Though Misiorowski's future could lie in the bullpen, he will make his major-league debut in the rotation. He will get the start on Thursday against the Cardinals in a key game for Milwaukee, which currently sits 1 1/2 games behind St. Louis for second place in the National League Central. The Brewers are three games out of the third wild-card spot currently. The Brewers rotation is currently fifth in baseball with a 3.35 ERA. Overall, the Brewers staff ranks 16th with a 3.87 ERA. Injuries have impacted the staff, with Nestor Cortes, Robert Gasser, Connor Thomas and Brandon Woodruff all currently on the injured list.

But his future is in the field, where his immense power had the potential to give the long-floundering Kansas City offense the kind of immediate production they have not had in years. Article content In just 50 games between Double-A and Triple-A this season, Caglianone has hit 15 homers with 56 RBIs. He also has been hitting .322, holding that average steady even after moving up a level, to alleviate some of his swing-and-miss concerns. Article content Caglianone has primarily played first base, but Vinnie Pasquantino typically holds down that job for Kansas City, and veteran catcher Salvador Perez plays there occasionally when not behind the plate. Where the Royals have a pressing needs is in their outfield, where they finally designated for assignment Hunter Renfroe after another season of little production. Article content As a whole, Kansas City outfielders are hitting .237 with seven homers and 46 RBIs in 663 plate appearances. Article content The Royals are still 31-29 heading into Monday's day off thanks to a pitching staff that has allowed just 201 runs, second-fewest in the majors behind the Mets. They open a three-game set in St. Louis on Tuesday night, then play three against the White Sox in Chicago, before Caglianone would potentially make his home debut against the Yankees on June 10.
