Michael Rutter update as veteran race hospitalised following crash at Isle of Man
Michael Rutter is currently "stable" in hospital following a crash on the final lap of Friday's Supertwin race at the Isle of Man TT. The veteran rider, who first competed in the TT back in 1994, decided to limit his competition to just the Supertwin class this time around. Advertisement He secured a 10th place finish in the opening Supertwin race on his Yamaha, but unfortunately crashed on the final lap of Friday's race at the 31st Milestone. "During the third and final lap of the Supertwin Race earlier today at the Isle of Man TT, Bathams AJN Racing rider Michael Rutter fell at the 31st Milestone," read a team statement after the seven-time TT winner's accident. Advertisement "We can confirm that Rutter is conscious, breathing and that his condition is stable. "He is currently undergoing scans and observations at the Noble's hospital to determine any potential injuries. Further details will follow. "In the meantime, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all the marshals and medical staff on the scene who took care of Michael, as well as the paramedics and medical staff at Noble's hospital." Rutter had planned to reduce his own racing activities at the TT to better support his rider Craig Neve's campaign in the other classes. However, Neve was unfortunately sidelined from the event following a crash at last month's North West 200. Advertisement Jamie Cringle was swiftly brought in as an eleventh-hour substitute at the Bathams Racing team to fill Neve's shoes. So far, his top performance at the event has been securing the 17th spot in the opening Superbike TT on Monday. The 2025 TT is set to conclude on Saturday with the Senior TT finale. However, overnight rainfall and predicted morning showers have already caused a minimum two-hour delay in the schedule.

Gary McCoy devastated as North West crash set to delay Isle of Man debut again
McCoy was caught up in a red flag incident with Lincolnshire's Craig Neve at Mill Road roundabout early in Supersport qualifying. Neve, who rides for Michael Rutter's Bathams AJN Racing team, was taken to hospital by air ambulance while Cookstown man McCoy travelled by ambulance. Neve is reported to have suffered significant but non-life-threatening injuries. Injured McCoy said there was nothing he could do about the accident, which has forced him out of the remainder of the North West and curtailed his plans to race around the iconic TT Mountain Course for the first time. 'Just thought I'd give a quick update to everyone as I have had a lot of kind messages and well-wishes,' McCoy posted on social media. 'Yesterday afternoon I was involved in a crash which was totally out of my control… on the approach to Mill Road roundabout. 'Unfortunately this will rule me out of any further racing at the NW200 this year and my debut as a newcomer to the Isle of Man TT. 'Thanks to everyone for the help and support and I hope the other rider has a speedy recovery also.' The incident resulted in a lengthy delay but the session resumed, albeit with only around 18 minutes left before roads had to reopen around the Triangle course by 3pm. The Superstock and Supertwin qualifying sessions on Wednesday were lost as the organisers ran out of time, with earlier red flags in the Superbike session due to oil also holding up the schedule.
