Fans hit Skip Bayless with Spurs receipts after bizarre 22-minute Thunder video
The post Fans hit Skip Bayless with Spurs receipts after bizarre 22-minute Thunder video appeared first on ClutchPoints. The Oklahoma City Thunder have finally climbed the mountain. The Thunder won its first NBA Championship in franchise history on Sunday night, beating the Indiana Pacers in Game 7 of the NBA Finals, 103-91. The game was somewhat marred by the devastating Tyrese Haliburton Achilles injury. But that did not stop fans and celebrities from giving the Thunder their flowers. Advertisement But in an interesting twist, former television personality and self-proclaimed San Antonio Spurs fan, Skip Bayless, posted a strange 22-minute video on X, formerly Twitter. In the video, Bayless is seen getting emotional, wearing an Oklahoma City Thunder hat. 'I am so elated, even though I am not showing it because I am so deflated. This is all so bittersweet,' Bayless said to open the video. 'My emotions are more mixed than the drinks my father used to drink, my drunk father back at that house I grew up in on 43rd Street in Oklahoma City. 'That little two-bedroom, one bath house with that drunk dad of mine,' he said while away from the camera. He would go on to lament Haliburton's injury and declare that this Thunder championship should be regarded as one of the greatest of all time. But one major problem, he sounds like the most bandwagon of bandwagon fans ever. Advertisement Fans noticed, too, replying to his tweet with receipts. 'I've been a Spurs fan since the Ice Man nights of the '70s. First time I've ever dreaded watching a Spurs game,' Bayless wrote in May of 2017. But that was far from the only one. A year prior, he even invoked the Thunder in reference to his Spurs fandom. 'As a Spurs fan, I'll be rooting like crazy for the Thunder to finish Dallas.' But X user A Different Conversation really brought it all home. 'Are you finally at that age where you've lost it? You were already cooked, but a 21 minute video, you being a Thunder fan all of a sudden, and now we gotta hear about your drunk dad 😬 wtf skip.' Advertisement Bayless was indeed raised in Oklahoma City. He was actually named John Edward but upon his nickname of Skip sticking, he eventually officially changed his name. It is somewhat confusing to see such a bizarre video. On one hand, Bayless appears to be opening up about his childhood trauma, expressing vulnerability. On the other hand, he has built a career as an attention-seeking, dramatized personality. So, it's hard to know how much of the displayed emotion was genuine. But one thing is clear. Any fan that suddenly jumps onto a championship bandwagon will always get called out for it. The timing of Skip Bayless' Tyrese Haliburton ‘no-show' tweet couldn't have been worse
With one post, Skip Bayless managed to unite all of NBA Twitter against him. The sports pundit had an all-time bad take about Tyrese Haliburton in the early moments of Sunday's NBA Finals Game 7 between the Pacers and Thunder, and it aged horribly wrong moments later. 'The Pacers brilliantly took the big-game pressure off Haliburton, who routinely no-shows, by planting the 'injury excuse' that the media swallowed whole,' Bayless posted to X in the first quarter. Mere minutes later — after rising to the Game 7 moment with three early 3-pointers — Haliburton was writhing on the ground with what was later deemed an Achilles injury. Skip Bayless at the 7th Annual IAVA Heroes Gala on Nov. 12, 2013 in New York City. WireImage Haliburton suffered a strained right calf in Game 5 of the Finals, but played through it in Game 6 and to start Game 7. Bayless, though, theorized that the Pacers had somehow 'planted' the calf injury in order to ease the external pressure and expectations on Haliburton. The post enraged fans from just about everywhere. 'Truly one of the worst tweets ever. My goodness,' said one user in a post that got 16,000 likes. 'Wow,' wrote another, 'you might be the worst person to ever have a platform in the sports world.' Bayless did not delete his post, but he did follow it up with several posts that were sympathetic to Haliburton. 'OK, now Haliburton looks hurt. Hope it's not too bad,' he wrote after the point guard went down with the Achilles injury, then adding: 'Unfortunately, that Haliburton injury looked like more than a calf pull.' IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect Later in the game, he wrote: 'HATE THIS FOR TYRESE HALIBURTON. ACHILLES, AS SUSPECTED. SIMILAR INJURY KEVIN DURANT SUFFERED IN THE FINALS, ALTHOUGH HE'D BEEN OUT A MONTH (9 GAMES) WITH A CALF PULL.' He doubled down on that a few minutes later, writing: 'Even as a Thunder fan, the last thing I wanted to see was Haliburton getting hurt. The LAST.' Bayless, 73, is a Thunder fan who was born and raised in Oklahoma City. The Thunder went on to win their first title with a 103-91 triumph over the Haliburton-less Pacers. Bayless was an original member of ESPN's 'First Take' in 2007, before starring on the show with Stephen A. Smith from 2012-16. He then starred on Fox Sports 1's 'Undisputed' with Shannon Sharpe from 2016-24. The timeline for Haliburton's return to play has not been outlined, but it can often take athletes between 8-10 months to fully recovery from an Achilles injury.

Skip Bayless drops harsh Pacers take after Game 2 loss to Thunder
The post Skip Bayless drops harsh Pacers take after Game 2 loss to Thunder appeared first on ClutchPoints. Game 2 of the Finals didn't go over too well for the Indiana Pacers, as the team suffered a brutal 123-107 loss. However, the series is tied at 1-1 with Game 3 taking place in Indiana. But it appears famed sports analyst Skip Bayless doesn't have much hope for them, as he delivered a harsh take about the Pacers heading into Wednesday's contest. Advertisement Bayless believes the Thunder are going to end this series in five games. He thinks Oklahoma City is just a substantially better team than the Pacers. Bayless also points out how OKC won Game 2 even without playing their best. 'The Oklahoma City Thunder are going to win the NBA Finals in 5 games because they're way better than the Indiana Pacers… Wednesday night will be the night the Thunder take complete control of the series.' Game 2 was all Thunder, as the Pacers largely struggled throughout. Even Tyrese Haliburton had a slow game, as he entered the fourth quarter with just five points. Oklahoma City's defense is likely the reason for that, but it's something he must overcome if Indiana hopes to pull off a win in the next contest. Advertisement Most would agree with Skip Bayless here. The Thunder are large betting favorites to win the title this year. Despite that, there's still hope for the Pacers. It's not like we've never seen an upset before. That was the case in the Dallas Mavericks beat out the heavily favored Miami Heat 4-2 in the NBA Finals for the 2010-11 season. Pacers' head coach Rick Carlisle was the head coach of that Dallas team. So, it's a familiar territory for the 65-year-old head coach. Game 3 tips off on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. EST. It'll be the first matchup in Indiana. It's an opportunity for the Pacers to put the Thunder on their back foot and take a 2-1 lead, in what should be a pivotal contest. Skip Bayless goes scorched on Steelers for signing ‘blame-deflecting diva' Aaron Rodgers in spicy rant
Skip Bayless reappeared on social media to blast the Pittsburgh Steelers for what he views as another bad decision at quarterback. The former ESPN and Fox Sports personality labeled Rodgers a 'washed-up, 41-year-old, finger-pointing, blame-deflecting diva' in a five-plus-minute rant he posted to X. Bayless was stunned the Steelers 'actually did it' by signing Rodgers, adding that he believes the ex-Jets signal caller is going to 'steal from the Steelers.' 'He was washed his last three years in Green Bay,' Bayless said. 'Go look at the numbers of his last three playoff games in Green Bay … I told the Jets he was washed.' Rodgers has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the Steelers, who are basically all-in for the 2025 season after trading for star receiver DK Metcalf and with T.J. Watt entering the final year of his contract. 'What has become of the Pittsburgh Steelers?' he continued. 'I don't hate them anymore, I pity them.' Bayless referenced Rodgers' poor playoff stats, although he hasn't played in the playoffs since 2021. His last postseason contest game in a 13-10 home loss with Green Bay to the 49ers in the NFC Divisional Round, when Rodgers went 20-of-29 with 225 yards and zero touchdowns. Skip Bayless goes scorched earth on Aaron Rodgers. X, @RealSkipBayless Rodgers last secured a playoff win in 2020 over the Rams (23-of-36, 295 yards, two touchdowns) but followed that victory by losing to the eventual champion Buccaneers (33-of-48, 346 yards, three touchdowns, one interception) at home in the NFC Championship game. Bayless claimed the Steelers are better off with Mason Rudolph at quarterback and 'starting to look like the odds-on favorite to be the first pick in the draft next year.' Aaron Rodgers signed with the Steelers on Thursday. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST 'At least got a name, but he ain't got any game,' Bayless concluded. Rodgers had an uneven season as the Jets' signal caller in 17 games last season, throwing for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns with 11 interceptions. He played just four snaps in his first Jets season before suffering a torn Achilles tendon.

Skip Bayless Calls Out Caitlin Clark After Loss to the Dream
Caitlin Clark has emerged as one of the most polarizing figures in sports. The Indiana Fever guard is the NCAA's all-time leading scorer, following an impressive career with the Iowa Hawkeyes, where she led the team to two national championship game appearances. After being selected first overall in the 2024 WNBA draft, she had a solid rookie season, averaging 19.2 points and 8.4 assists per game. This year, she is off to a strong start, averaging 23.5 points, 10.5 assists and 7.5 rebounds per game. Advertisement The Fever has a 1-1 record at the start of the season, but it was the team's most recent game that caught the attention of former Fox Sports analyst Skip Bayless. Bayless has had a successful media career and is known as the "Godfather" of sports debate shows; he was a foundational figure on ESPN's "First Take" before leaving to join Fox and host "Undisputed" before leaving Fox late last year. He did this on Tuesday when the Fever lost to the Atlanta Dream with a score of 91-90. The Dream took the lead with nine seconds remaining after Kelsey Mitchell fouled Rhyne Howard, who then made both free throws to give the Dream a 91-90 advantage. During the Fever's next possession, Clark was the inbounder and lobbed the ball to Natasha Howard. However, Howard's shot was blocked by Nia Coffey. Howard managed to grab her own rebound and attempted a 12-foot shot to win the game, but she missed. Coffey secured the rebound, sealing the victory for the Dream. Advertisement Bayless took to X to express his frustration about the play, stating in all caps, "Caitlin Clark has to take the last shot for Indiana when it's down one with nine seconds left. She did not. Fever lost at home to Atlanta." Bayless has built his career on critiquing players in "clutch situations." Most notably, he has criticized LeBron James for lacking a "clutch gene," arguing that he avoids those crucial moments. Bayless firmly believes that the best player should take the shot almost every time in those situations. Bayless' criticism could also be directed at the coaching staff. While Clark is an excellent passer, as evidenced by her average of double-digit assists, the play did not seem to be designed for her to do anything other than pass the ball. Although the outcome of this game was not favorable, it may serve as a valuable learning experience for Clark and her team as they move forward.
