ITV The Chase fans all say same thing as show 'ruined' by 'team's decision'
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Chase enthusiasts were unified in their reactions following a nail-biting instalment of the popular ITV quiz show. The episode featured hopeful quizzers David, Tom, Samantha, and Danae making up the team challenging one of Britain's sharpest minds. David stepped up first to showcase his general knowledge prowess, racking up an impressive £7,000 during the Cash Builder round before a high-stakes clash with The Chaser, Mark Labbett, affectionately known as The Beast. Though tempted by a huge £70,000 higher offer, he opted to play for his earned cash, aiming for a place in the final showdown. Samantha followed, hoping to lay down a stronger foundation for the team's prize pot. Viewers were flabbergasted when she accepted a lowly £1,000 from The Beast's offer lineup, reports the Liverpool Echo. Successfully beating The Beast back to her team, Tom seemed to draw inspiration from Samantha's cautious approach, also accepting a modest £1,000 which took the burgeoning prize fund to a mere £2,000. Despite their successful bouts, the conservative gameplay led to fans expressing their dismay online. Flocking to X, a fan lamented: "Why do these people bother applying to go on the show? ?" while another voiced frustration: "What a waste of time." The Chase viewers were left fuming after contestants repeatedly took low offers, with one fan writing on social media: "Seriously? Low again? Remember when low offers were a rarity?" Another viewer chimed in: "Beat The Chasers is so much a better show than #thechase. The low offer takers have totally ruined this show." When contestants Tom and Samantha secured their spots in the final chase, host Bradley Walsh commented: "You could've gone for it but we'll never know." He then welcomed Danae, the final contestant of the episode. Bradley was hopeful that Danae would take a risk and go for the high offer, but she disappointed viewers by rejecting The Chaser's whopping offer of £188,000 to play it safe with £2,000. While Bradley expressed surprise at her decision, The Beast deemed it "absolutely understandable." Despite her controversial choice, Danae sailed through her head-to-head against The Beast, boosting the shared prize pot to £4,000. Upon realising the team could've been playing for a quarter of a million pounds if they had all taken The Chaser's higher offers, Bradley remarked: "What is going on on The Chase recently? Very very high figures and money." He then joked: "I'm gonna have a go at this." Fans took to social media to express their disappointment, with one dubbing the episode as the "Worst game of #TheChase ever witnessed." Another agreed: "£4,000 shared among 3 if they win. That's why The Chase is not worth watching anymore." In the final chase, contestants Tom, Danae and Samantha managed to rack up a commendable score of 20. However, it wasn't enough to secure victory against The Beast, resulting in the participants leaving the show without any winnings.

Darragh Ennis' life away from The Chase with childhood sweetheart and second job
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info The Chase star Darragh Ennis, who is best known for his role as The Menace had originally been a contestant on the show back in 2016 before ITV producers invited him back to become a Chaser instead. Despite being the newest member of Bradley Walsh's Chaser army, Darragh is by no means a fresh face on the show, having made his formal debut back in 2020. Since then, he's made numerous appearances on the popular quiz programme and its spin-off show Beat The Chasers alongside co-stars Paul Sinha, Anne Hegerty, Mark Labbett, Jenny Ryan and Shaun Wallace, with very few proving to ever be triumphant against him. While the Irishman tends to keep closed lid on private affairs away from the series, he has in the past let slip on the show about personal matters, including his past job, co-star connection and childhood sweetheart wife. Darrah's TV debut Back in 2016, the Irish star appeared on the ITV programme as a player sporting long curly locks. He quickly impressed host Bradley Walsh and Chaser Paul Sinha, who hailed him as "very, very good" after he'd achieved £9,000 in the cash builder round. His exceptional performance later saw him invited back for a screen test in which he bagged the role of the newest Chaser, The Menace. In a past interview, he attributed his cool on-camera style for his success. Speaking to the Liverpool Echo previously, he reflected: "I did well on the quiz, but a lot of people do. I don't get stage fright. I don't get rattled by cameras or anything and a lot of people do. That can subtract a bit from how well their personality comes across. "So, because I had that advantage, maybe they just saw something and thought 'this fella is very relaxed on camera', which is a big part of the job. It's not just about knowing stuff. It's about being calm enough in the moment to recall everything quickly so I think just a combination of those things." Family life (Image: ITV) The TV star previously revealed that he studied at Maynooth University and that this is how he and his wife were first acquainted. Giving a brief glimpse into how they met, he told RSVP Live: "We did our degrees and PhDs there [Maynooth University]. We were in labs down the hall from each other and she's from Kildare." Darragh insists on keeping his private affairs out the spotlight, on the matter of privacy after being trolled online himself, the father-of-two told The Irish Mirror: "I have been keeping my family out of the limelight so my wife doesn't get involved, she doesn't want to. "And my children, I don't share photos of my children or anything like that. No one knows what my children look like or their names or anything like that." His Instagram profile instead is awash with pictures of bird feeders and the bee hives that are native to his Oxford home. Second job (Image: ITV) Darrah opted to maintain in his profession as a neuroscientist and entomologist alongside his commitments on The Chase. Opening up on his career, during his TV debut as a contestant back in 2016, he told Bradley Walsh: "I work in brain development and how insect brains grow and develop." Stunned, Brad asked: "How insect brains grow and develop?" As Darragh quipped: "Well we can't use people's brains so..." On a more recent episode, Darragh even revealed to the host that he would be "back in the lab on Monday," confirming that he was still in the industry despite his fame. Darragh's link to Paul Sinha before TV fame As a contestant on The Chase, Darragh also spilled that he and Paul Sinha shared a common connection before they were co-stars on the ITV show. When asked by host Bradley who he'd like to come up against, the Irishman firmly stated: "I'd like to play Paul because apparently he used to play in the quiz league that I used to play in." "You play in a quiz league?" gasped Brad as Darragh confirmed: "Yes a pub quiz," as Paul stepped out from behind the famous red doors to go head-to-head. The Chase airs weekdays on ITV1 at 5pm.

The programme, fronted by Bradley Walsh, was launched as a supersized spin-off of the early evening quizzing favourite. 3 The future of Beat The Chasers has been confirmed 3 The quiz show will return for two more series Credit: ITV Now, it has been confirmed that despite the recent delays with the latest series, show bosses have been handed a further TWO series of Beat The Chaser. Series seven is understood to currently be filming as well as an eighth series to be recorded this autumn. Transmission details are yet to be revealed but it is likely that ITV will air both series over the next two years. Series six of the programme began airing in January of this year despite being filmed in early spring 2023. It came jam-packed with a slew of celebrity specials as does the regular version. In the primetime spin-off, contestants are tasked with taking on FIVE chasers all at once in a high-stakes round of quizzing. The amount of chasers they face determines how much money they play for. Every contestant must face at least two chasers in order to earn the money they have built by correctly answering questions in their solo cash builder round. The chasers then make further offers for higher amounts of money and less time to answer all the questions if they agree to take on a greater number of the quizzing geniuses. In recently aired episodes, The Governess quizzer Anne Hegerty was replaced by a star of the Aussie version of the programme after missing out on the recording of the episodes. Beat The Chasers shock as woman wins huge amount after errors Issa 'The Supernerd' Schultz stepped in for Anne back in 2023 when she stepped down from the show due to health reasons. Known to fans of The Chase Australia, Issa impressed viewers with his trivia prowess in the rerun episode. Issa's accolades include eight victories at the Australian Quizzing Championships between 2011 and 2021, along with appearances on shows like The Rich List and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? The Chase's best moments The Chase has been entertaining ITV viewers for years, here are some of the show's most memorable moments... Bradley Walsh can't stop laughing Every time host Bradley Walsh erupts into fits of laughter on The Chase it makes for pretty entertaining TV. One particularly memorable occasion was when he was asking the question 'The title of which Elvis Presley song was engraved of the inside of Freddie Star's coffin?" As usual the contestant was given four multiple choices but Bradley could get through reading them out before bursting into hysterics. Seeming the idea of the song being option 'B: Way Down' was too much for the presenter to handle. The Double Trouble special To celebrate 15 years of The Chase on screens, ITV launched a special 'double trouble' episode where contestants faced off against not one but two of the show's beloved Chasers. And despite the odds, the contestants managed to go home with some cash! The contestants with famous names Eagle-eyed ITV fans are always quick to spot interesting and sometimes hidden details on the quiz show - but there have been a few times where the names of some contestants have been overtly obvious. For example, one 2017 episode of the quiz show saw Bradley welcome four contestants who were named after Friends characters Ross, Rachel, Phoebe and Joey. Another group of contestants with named from The Simpsons were also grouped together in another episode, much to viewers' amusement. The Beast's anger gets the best of him During an episode from the 2024 season, Mark Labbett let out his inner beast as he exploded in a fit of anger. Close to losing the competition in the Final Chase, Mark then made a silly mistake and incorrectly answered the question, 'Rabbit was a 1980 hit for which Cockney duo?' 'Oh, you idiot!' he yelled at himself while slamming the table in front of him. With seconds left on the clock, the Chaser then admitted defeat, moaning "I don't deserve to win."
