Dissolve oven door grease stains using common household item that's not vinegar

Cleaning an oven door is a notoriously hard task to tackle. Cleaning an oven door is often a dreaded chore, which many put off for as long as they can. However, the longer you leave the grease, the more stubborn it is to remove. ‌ The tough stains become stuck to the glass and can seem impossible to banish, no matter how hard you scrub. Another reason to tackle the stains promptly is the fact bacteria can accumulate in these areas, making your oven unhygienic for cooking. ‌ The internet is full of hacks and product ideas, ranging from white vinegar and baking soda to all sorts of cleaning products. But according to cleaners, you could have a simple solution already in your home. ‌ Posing on Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips and Tricks Facebook group, Becca Dwyer, said she had been let down by five oven cleaning methods while helping her mum. But, as reported by the Express, she revealed she had found a product that had finally left the oven 'sparkling', reports . She said: "Hi. This is the glass from my mother's oven door. I was cleaning her oven today as she can't bend down. ‌ "I've tried Pink Stuff paste, Elbow Grease cream, dishwasher tablet, aerial pod, also baking soda and vinegar, but nothing shifted it." Despite baking soda and vinegar being a popular cleaning duo, Dri-Pak experts say: "One thing that isn't really the best solution, despite lots of internet tips, is to use bicarbonate of soda and then add white vinegar. ‌ "The effect will be reduced because the acid white vinegar is neutralising the alkalinity of the baking soda, and it's that which dissolves the grease." Becca ultimately found success with an unexpected yet straightforward alternative. ‌ She exclaimed: "Someone then suggested soda crystals to me, and it worked so much better than anything I've tried. It's now sparkling." Dri-Pak has given a ringing endorsement of the product, stating: "Soda crystals are excellent for dissolving grease and working on stubborn, burnt-on food." These versatile crystals can be applied either as a solution or in liquid form, left to act for 20 minutes, and then simply wiped clean. For more persistent stains, using dry soda crystals can provide a gentle abrasive action to remove any lingering dirt. ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Soda crystals are not only effective but also economical, with online prices starting from just £3.60. Laura, founder of Our Oily House, also recently revealed a "safer and healthier" oven cleaning product. ‌ She said: "There are times when an oven is so dirty that fat and grime are stuck fast after months of use. When this happens, I recommend using a baking soda and water paste mixture." It might sound strange, but baking soda is highly effective at cutting through grease. Its mild alkalinity means it can break down acidic food stains and dissolve them. Baking soda is also super absorbent, which means it will loosen any baked-on muck on the oven door, making it a breeze to clean.
