Summerhall Arts to host Gravity Beer Festival this autumn

Gravity Beer Festival will take place at Summerhall Arts in September with a renewed commitment to creativity, independent brewing and the artistry of beer-making. Held in the grounds of Summerhall since its launch in 2023, Gravity 2025 will spotlight the cutting-edge of craft in beer-making from across the UK and beyond. Welcoming 14 of the UK's best craft breweries and cider maker; festivalgoers will be able to explore and enjoy a curated line-up of exceptional beers, experimental brews, and exclusive festival-only pours. The connection between Gravity Beer Festival and Summerhall goes beyond the festival dates. The newly appointed Summerhall Arts was set up to support the arts and authentic craft, and Gravity Beer Festival is an integral part of that. Barney's Beer, the team behind Gravity, have their year-round home at the historic Summerhall Brewery which was first established on the site in 1705. It is this setting and cultural influence that is the inspiration behind Gravity Beer Festival. Residents poured in for an unforgettable day of enjoying craft beer, live music across all genres, and a feast of street-style food from top local vendors. There was a selection of local and international brews, with festivalgoers being spoiled for choice, from crisp lagers to bold Indian Pale Ales (IPAs). Over the past decade, the festival has become a cornerstone on Pretoria's social calendar, celebrating South Africa's thriving beer scene while bringing the community together through music, laughter, and shared experiences. The sound of live guitar riffs also echoed across the lush lawns. Among the day's highlight performances was the legendary Mango Groove, drawing eager anticipation from the crowd. Shylah Hepke, a local attendee, shared her excitement. 'Of course I am also looking forward to nice music, dancing and some nice beer,' she said. Cricket club's 3-day festival to showcase beer and gin brands

A cricket club is set to host a long weekend of drinks and music. Whitefield's Stand Cricket Club's Beer and Gin Festival will take place from Friday, June 27 to Sunday, June 29. The festival will feature 11 breweries serving drinks from 14 taps, alongside small-batch gins from six regional distilleries. Treasurer at the club, Elliot Barker, said: "We're delighted to welcome everyone back for another fantastic year of the beer and gin festival. "With our largest-ever selection - 11 breweries pouring from 14 taps and six gin distilleries - it promises to be our biggest event yet. "The festival is not only a celebration of great drinks and community spirit but also a vital part of our annual fundraising efforts." The festival will begin on the Friday with junior cricket training, food from Cugini's Pizza, and music from The Bury Busker. On the Saturday, Stand Cricket Club's 1st XI will play against Walshaw Cricket Club, followed by a performance from four-piece soul and funk band Soul Food. The Sunday will feature a friendly cricket match to round off the festival.
