Marrakech Marathon Named One of the World's Top Running Races for 2025
Rabat – The Marrakech Marathon has been ranked among the world's top trending marathons for 2025, according to the latest Running Report by The race has seen a 68% increase in global searches, which reflects its growing popularity among runners worldwide. Held in the beautiful red city of Marrakech, the marathon has gained attention for its scenic route, which takes participants through the city's historic streets, palm groves, and past stunning landmarks. The Marrakech Marathon now ranks 10th among the world's most searched marathons thanks to its steady rise in interest. The organizers of the marathon say that 'the Edenic city of Marrakech offers an exceptional setting, an often mild climate in January and a beautiful circuit considered among the fastest of international marathons, along the alleys of palm trees, orange trees and olive trees, but also the ramparts of the city.' The report analyzed Google search trends for over 100 races globally and found that interest in competitive running is on the rise. The Beijing Marathon secured the top spot with a staggering 386% increase in searches, followed by the Shanghai Marathon (126%) and the Nagoya Women's Marathon in Japan (104%). Aside from the Marrakech Marathon, several other races across the world have seen a surge in popularity. The Seville Marathon and Malaga Marathon in Spain both saw a 78% increase in interest, while the Riyadh Marathon in Saudi Arabia followed closely with the same percentage increase. European races such as the Rome Marathon and Madrid Marathon also made the top rankings. In addition to traditional marathons, ultramarathons have seen a significant rise in interest, with searches for 'ultramarathon near me' increasing by 66% year-on-year. The Namib Race in Namibia ranked as the most trending ultramarathon, with a 186% increase in searches. The Suffolk Coastal Path 50k in the UK and the Barkley Marathons in the US also made it to the top three.
