Want to serve on the airport board in Bryan County?
Calling all aviation enthusiasts. Applications are being accepted for the Richmond Hill–Bryan County Airport Authority. The city of Richmond Hill made the announcement on their Facebook page, calling on those interested in serving their community to apply. Board members will play a key role in aviation planning and gain experience in working in local government. Appointees will also oversee the long-term vision of the airport. More: Stephen Nottingham of FREN Foundation shares vision for interactive park for Richmond Hill Gov. Brian Kemp signed The Richmond Hill-Bryan County Airport Authority Act, or House Bill 763, May 1. In doing so, it enabled the county to establish an airport authority board. Bryan County appointed three individuals to serve on the airport authority board earlier this month. Bryan County Manager Ben Taylor, County Commissioner Gene Wallace and Marvin Daniel of Richmond Hill have been appointed to Post 1, Post 3 and Post 5, respectively. Taylor's term will run so long as he maintains the position as County Manager. Wallace and Daniel will each serve four-year terms. The board will have 11 members total and all appointments must be submitted by the end of June. According to Bryan County, the board is expected to be established in July. "After establishment, there will be an initial period for board members to meet one another, establish bylaws and handle other organizational matters," said Nicholas Beard, public information officer for Bryan County. "Exact dates for these next steps are still being determined." State legislator Ron Stephens, who spearheaded the bill, said in a previous interview that having board members who are familiar with the landscape of the county is significant. "It's important to have continuity between the taxing authorities involved." Trip Addison, vice president and treasurer for the Development Authority, told the Savannah Morning News in a previous interview that, 'The Airport Authority will have bonding ability and they can decide how much they want to build based on what they can afford from a revenue perspective." Stephens believes it will be several years before construction of the airport is complete. 'The feds will have to get involved, as well as the state. That will give the county time to plan and get its infrastructure together.' The airport study shows most of the general aviation travel flows through Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport. As that traffic flow continues to increase, a secondary airport will be needed to divert those flights. Chatham, Effingham, Liberty, and McIntosh are listed as the four contiguous counties that are part of the study area. As of 2023, there are 449 registered aircraft in the study area with 34 of those being registered in Bryan County. The total population within the study area in 2022 was 501,721, which results in a ratio of 0.89 registered aircraft per 1,000 residents. More: 'A safe haven for our family': Residents share significance of Sterling Creek Park Although a definitive location of the airport has not yet been determined, the study shows a proposed location to be a few miles away from Exit 87 on I-95 Southbound. The study estimates the property would take up more than 300 acres of land. Applications will be accepted until Wednesday, June 25 at 5 p.m. Click here to apply. Gold and bronze medals for Kiwi rowers

Ben Taylor and Oliver Welch beat the Olympic champions to win the Men's Pair. Ben Mason and Finn Hamill launched their partnership in style with bronze in the Men's Double Sculls, while Stella Clayton-Greene and Kathryn Glen had a reunion row to remember with their bronze in the Women's Double Sculls. Croatian brothers Valent and Martin Sinkovic are perhaps the most celebrated combination in pairs rowing after New Zealand's Hamish Bond and Eric Murray. They won gold at the Tokyo and Paris Olympics. "Seeing them next to us on the start line was real exciting. Like, I've watched them win Olympic gold medals. [But] from the times in the heats and the semis, I was quietly confident we'd be able to beat them if we raced our best race," said 21-year-old Oliver Welch. Welch and Taylor, who were the fastest qualifiers, made a quick start and then continued on to win. " I'm really glad that I chose Oli, it's really paid off. I've said to a few people that I'm pretty excited about this one... it feels pretty special and I think that showed today... really excited to see how far this can go," Taylor, who is now the senior sweep athlete in the men's squad, said Ben Mason and Finn Hamill finished third in a photo finish with Italy in the Men's Double with Switerland taking the win. Their coach Gary Roberts said he knew there was potential based on the performance of previous crews he's had in his nine years with New Zealand's elite athletes. "They've been training well back in New Zealand... there was just an unknown as to where they would stack up. It's a nice surprise." It had been a refreshing experience in other ways as well. Stella Clayton-Geene and Kathryn Glen won a bronze medal in the Double Sculls at the U19 World Championships in 2018. Clayton-Greene has been fighting a chest infection this week and the pair's time in their fourth-place finish in the heats was just good enough to get them into the A Final. Their reunion finally got off properly in last night's medal race. "I've always wanted to be back in the boat with Stella," Glen said. "It's exciting to be in a boat with someone that you trust a hundred percent. It's fun as well so I don't get as nervous when I race because you're rowing with your best friend?" China, whose programme is headed up by New Zealander Ian Wright, crossed in 6.43.24, the Dutch in second (6.44.17), New Zealand in 6.48.44. The lead-in for the Women's Four has also been affected by illness, with Ella Cossill having to hop into the boat for Juliette Lequeux. They finished fourth. The Men's Four of Flynn Eliadis-Watson, Campbell Crouch, Zack Rumble and Josh Vodanovich finished sixth. The regatta also hosted the first Mixed Eight competition with the USA winning the test event. The New Zealand team now heads to Lucerne for the next World Cup regatta. Lincoln Avenue Communities Breaks Ground on Affordable Housing Development in New Mexico
Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham and other local officials joined LAC to celebrate Santa Fe County's first multi-family and affordable development. SANTA FE, N.M., June 5, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Lincoln Avenue Communities (LAC), a mission-driven acquirer and developer of affordable housing, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony last week at the future site of Cresta Ranch Apartments, a new development that will provide 240 units of affordable housing to lower-income residents in Santa Fe. "LAC is proud to bring high-quality, affordable housing to communities like Santa Fe where the need is especially urgent," said Ben Taylor, LAC vice president and project partner. "Cresta Ranch will deliver on our mission by supporting generations of New Mexico families who may otherwise be priced out of the area." Taylor and LAC were joined at the event by a host of community leaders and local officials including New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, and Santa Fe County Commissioners Hank Hughes and Justin Greene. Cresta Ranch will be the first multi-family and affordable development in Santa Fe County and is comprised of 10 buildings of 24 two- and three-bedroom homes, with each unit featuring a balcony and walk-in closet. The community will offer amenities including a fitness center, yoga studio, community room, playgrounds, on-site leasing offices, mail and package room, and common area for laundry. Units will be leased to individuals and families earning up to 60% of the Santa Fe County Area Median Income. The development is financed with a $4 million New Mexico Housing Trust Fund loan and federal Low Income Housing Tax Credits from Housing New Mexico, along with a $35 million conduit tax-exempt bond issuance through Santa Fe County and a $1.32 million of gap funding through their newly created Developer's Assistance Program (DAP). Other financing partners included JP Morgan Chase, National Equity Fund, and Barings. Construction on the development began in January and the first units are expected to begin leasing in Summer 2026. All episodes of 'thrilling' axed historical drama dropping on free UK streamer
There's an unmissable swashbuckling period drama to add to your watchlists, as viewers will soon be able to watch the entire show for free. Starring Derry Girls alum Louisa Harland, the swaggering 18th-century period drama Renegade Nell found a dedicated fanbase when it was released last year on Disney Plus. Harland plays a young widower turned highwaywoman robber, who has some special superpowers to boot, and all eight episodes will soon be available to binge on ITVX. When she's framed for a murder in Tottenham, Nell is forced on the run with a ragtag group while the elites in the upper echelons of English society have twigged on to her powers she is forced to save the country. Nell is helped by a miniature Nick Mohammed, of Ted Lasso and soon-to-be Slow Horses fame, as the mystical sprite Billy Blind. The show is from the mind of Happy Valley writer Sally Wainwright – who is clearly no stranger to writing indomitable female leads – and directed by Sex Education's Ben Taylor, so the combined result is a show with superb production value. Better yet, Renegade Nell was previously behind the Disney Plus paywall but will be streaming on ITVX from Sunday, June 22 – just in time for a weekend binge. However, be warned: the show has already been cancelled by Disney – even with a score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes – so might be best not to become overly attached to the characters. When the axe was officially announced, Disney Plus released a statement to Deadline, reading: 'We're incredibly proud of the world created by Sally Wainwright and lead director Ben Taylor. 'We'd like to thank them, our production partners at Lookout Point, the entire cast – led by Louisa Harland – and crew for their incredible work on this series, all of whom we hope to work with again in the future.' The cancellation was made all the worse because director Ben Taylor told RadioTimes the second season was already being written when the first was released, adding that they were working a time jump into the show. Viewers who have come late to Renegade Nell have already expressed their disappointment that they won't be able to return to this world. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), @Crowbarella wrote: 'I seem to have this habit of finding awesome shows after they've already been canceled. #RenegadeNell.' Lincoln Avenue Communities Breaks Ground on Affordable Housing Development in Arvada, Colorado
Business and community leaders joined LAC to break ground on Marshall Pointe Apartments. ARVADA, Colo. , June 3, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Lincoln Avenue Communities (LAC), a mission-driven acquirer and developer of affordable housing, hosted a groundbreaking ceremony last week at the future site of Marshall Pointe Apartments, a four-story, 260-unit affordable housing community in Arvada, Colorado expected to begin leasing in September 2026. "We are proud to commence work today on LAC's second ground-up development in the Denver metro area," said Ben Taylor, LAC vice president and project partner. "Marshall Pointe will provide high-quality, affordable housing for families in one of Colorado's fastest-growing communities." Comprised of mostly one- and two-bedroom units, Marshall Pointe will lease its units to residents earning between 30% and 70% of the Area Median Income (AMI). Communal amenities will include two courtyards: one for adults featuring a covered dining area, hammock grove, flex lawn space, and lush landscaping; and one for children including a climbing wall, playground, movie wall, and garden. Additional indoor amenities include a fitness center, game room, package and mail rooms, and a lounge with a kitchenette. All units will be equipped with stainless steel Energy Star appliances, balconies, walk-in closets, linen closets, and hard-surface countertops. LAC is partnering with Family Tree, a non-profit human services agency in the Denver Metro Area, to offer full-time permanent supportive housing (PSH) at the site for all 13 units at the property, including eight that will have Project-Based Housing Choice Vouchers from the Arvada Housing Authority (AHA). As a result of the partnership with LAC, residents at Family Tree's nearby under development supportive housing property will have the opportunity to move to Marshall Pointe when ready, creating a Corridor of Housing Advancement between the sites and supporting long-term residency in the area. The project was financed in partnership with AHA and the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA), which provided Federal and Colorado State Tax Credits, along with the permanent financing. Additionally, the Colorado Department of Local Affairs provided $5 million of bridge funding for the land acquisition through their Operation Turn Key program, which allowed LAC to acquire the land 18 months ahead of the construction finance closing. Additional partners include the National Equity Fund (NEF) and JP Morgan Chase.
