2026 Mercedes-AMG G63 Review, Pricing, and Specs
Overview It's almost impossible to name a vehicle with more road presence than the Mercedes-AMG G63. Adapted from the original Mercedes Geländewagen military off-roader, its hulking cubist shape originally served a utilitarian function. To this day, the G63's rough-road prowess remains a distinguishing characteristic amongst other ultra-luxury SUVs, but modern tech, refined interior luxury, and a beastly 577-hp twin-turbo V-8 ensure that it isn't hurting for either glamor or speed. The trade-off for rugged military DNA is a slightly truckish on-road driving experience, but you don't buy a G63 for refined driving dynamics. Its allure lies in its ability to make every drive, whether on craggy trails or to Nobu's valet tent, an occasion. Expert Tip: While the G63's iconic silhouette and undeniable charm override its dynamic shortcomings, other performance-focused luxury SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga and Lamborghini Urus offer a better driving experience. What's New for 2026? Last year, the G63 received a light styling refresh to smooth out its boxy shape and improve its aerodynamic efficiency (marginally). The update also included the addition of a 48-volt mild hybrid system, an optional hydraulic adaptive suspension setup, improved off-road equipment, and some infotainment upgrades. With those improvements still fresh, we don't expect the G63 to change for 2026. Pricing and Which One to Buy The price of the 2026 Mercedes-AMG G63 is expected to start around $190,000. G63 $190,000 (est) 0 $50k $100k $150k $200k $250k $300k Though every Mercedes-AMG G63 comes standard with 20-inch wheels, adaptive dampers, a front brush guard, leather upholstery, heated front and rear seats, and three-zone climate control, most buyers consider the SUV's base price the cost of a blank canvas. There are myriad customization options through the Manufaktur personalization program and it's a not-so-well-guarded secret that AMG will indulge buyer requests of nearly any nature as long as the check clears. Engine, Transmission, and Performance Engine: 577-hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 577-hp twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 Transmission: 9-speed automatic 9-speed automatic Drivetrain: all-wheel drive The G63 relies on a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 engine making 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque; the V-8 is aided by a 48-volt hybrid system, but it doesn't provide any electric-only driving range. A nine-speed automatic funnels torque to the all-wheel-drive system (4Matic in Mercedes marketing lingo) with low range and triple locking differentials (center, front, and rear) to ensure maximum traction should the driver venture off-road. The AMG treatment extends to the suspension, fine-tuning it to handle the extra power on-road while retaining off-road capability. Many high-performance SUVs stick to the pavement far better than the G63, but few can match its off-road chops. In our initial test drive, we were impressed by the optional hydraulic adaptive suspension, which provides a smoother ride both on- and off-road. 0–60-MPH Times C/D 60-mph Test: 3.7 seconds In Comparison: It isn't all that surprising that AMG's luxo-cube isn't as quick to 60 mph as other, more aerodynamic ultra-premium SUVs like the Bentley Bentayga S and Aston Martin DBS. The former reached the mile-a-minute mark in 3.5 seconds and the latter in 3.1 seconds. View Photos Car and Driver Towing and Payload Capacity The G63 has a maximum towing capacity of 7716 pounds, and trailer stability assist software is included. Though it's improbable anyone would utilize a G63 as a primary tow vehicle, the capability is there if you need it. Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG EPA City Rating: 14 mpg 14 mpg EPA Highway Rating: 16 mpg Fuel efficiency is but an afterthought for the G63, with last year's model earning EPA ratings of 14 mpg city and 16 mpg highway. The government hasn't released any fuel economy information for the 2026 model yet, but without any substantial changes, the newest G63 should retain similar figures. When we get a chance, we'll take the G63 on our 75-mph highway fuel economy route and update this story with real-world test results. Interior, Comfort, and Cargo First Row: The G63's interior benefits from the same high-quality materials, tech, and convenience accouterments that dot the rest of the Mercedes lineup. There's leather upholstery, a 12.0-inch digital instrument panel, cupholders, and a surround-view camera system. Heated front seats and leather-bound AMG steering wheel also make the standard list. Taller drivers and passengers will find plenty of head- and legroom in the forward cabin. Second Row: Plush, leather-wrapped heated seats await rear passengers. Thanks to the G63's vertically generous shape, tall passengers will find plenty of rear headroom. The G's 39.5 inches of legroom is slightly less than you'll find in the Bentley Bentayga, but it's still sufficient stretch-out space for rear riders. An optional rear entertainment system is available, which features dual 11.6-inch touchscreens that can stream video content and browse the web. Cargo Capacity: Around the back of the G-class, there's still no power liftgate, and you'll need to be in good shape to open the side-hinged gate, which has a full-size spare tire mounted on it. With the rear seats up, you'll have 38 cubic feet of cargo space. Folding them down (60/40 split) provides nearly 69 cubic feet. Infotainment and Connectivity Infotainment: 12.3-inch touchscreen 12.3-inch touchscreen Connectivity: Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Audio System: 15-speaker Burmester 3D Surround Sound audio system Each G63 includes a 12.3-inch infotainment interface with Mercedes's MBUX software interface. Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and navigation are standard equipment. A Burmester surround sound system, three 12-volt power outlets, and a household A/C outlet in the cargo area help keep things civil. Also included is a three-year subscription to Mercedes-Benz's connected car services, which provide basic features such as remote engine start and stolen vehicle tracking. Safety and Driver-Assistance Features The Mercedes-AMG G63's driver-assistance aids are similar to the features offered elsewhere in the corporate lineup. It includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. A more advanced adaptive cruise control system with a lane-centering feature is optional. Bentley Bentayga Speed Sets Hillclimb Record At Goodwood Festival Of Speed
The Goodwood Festival of Speed has finally started and proves to be a credible ground for automakers to showcase their prowess. Keeping up with the spirit of the festival, Bentley has registered the Bentayga Speed as the fastest ICE-powered SUV in Goodwood Festival of Speed history. Bentley's new performance flagship of the Bentayga line-up completes a hill run in record time, despite wet conditions. The Bentayga Speed completed the Goodwood Hill run in 55.8 seconds, officially becoming the fastest ICE-powered production SUV ever. This record time beats that of the W12-powered Bentayga Speed, which was set in the dry by almost a second, whereas the new Bentayga Speed had to deal with wet conditions due to a pre-race shower. Andy Marson, Bentley's vehicle dynamics specialist, drove the car to the limits and pushed it to break the record. Bentley Bentayga at Goodwood Festival of Speed 2025 Talking about the specs, a 4.0-litre powers the Bentley Bentayga Speed, twin-turbo V8 engine produces 650 hp and 850 Nm of torque. It is capable of sprinting from 0-100 kmph in just 3.6 seconds and boasts a top speed of 310 kmph. It gets an enhanced Sport chassis mode and a new ESC Dynamic setting that brings maximum driver involvement and the choice between enhanced road-holding or the ability to slide the car on power. It was also fitted with a Sports exhaust system, and its Sport mode is enhanced to deliver increased steering response, roadholding, and driver connection, enhanced by a 15% increase in suspension damping stiffness.

Bentley Bentayga Speed sets new SUV hill climb record at Goodwood
The Bentley Bentayga Speed has set a new record at the Goodwood Speed Festival. Check Offers Bentley's latest Bentayga Speed has officially set a new record for the fastest internal combustion engine (ICE) production SUV on the Goodwood Festival of Speed hill climb. Despite patchy wet conditions, the 641 bhp luxury SUV completed the hill run in 55.8 seconds last Sunday, ahead of the festival's public opening. The time marks an improvement of almost one second over the previous W12-powered Bentayga Speed's run in dry conditions. It also beats all other ICE production SUVs recorded at the event. Only Bentley's specially modified Pikes Peak Bentayga has gone faster up the same hill. Bentley's vehicle dynamics specialist Andy Marson, driving the Bentayga Speed, reached a peak speed of 209 kmph before braking for Molecomb corner. According to Bentley, the run showcased the car's revised chassis, ESC Dynamic settings, and all-wheel steering systems aimed at improving cornering response and stability. Bentley Bentayga Speed: Engine and handling The new Bentayga Speed uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine, producing 641 bhp and 850 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0–60 mph in a claimed 3.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 310 kmph. Compared to previous Bentayga models, the latest version introduces several handling updates. These include a recalibrated SPORT driving mode, ESC Dynamic software, and all-wheel steering. Bentley says these changes allow for more responsive steering, improved cornering grip, and greater driver control. Check details Bentley Bentayga Speed: Chassis and braking The Bentayga Speed offers optional carbon ceramic brakes. In combination with ESC Dynamic mode, these brakes are designed to allow more flexibility for drivers, including the ability to engage controlled drift angles or sharper turn-ins using torque vectoring. All-wheel steering has been introduced as well. At lower speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, reducing the turning circle. At higher speeds, the rear wheels turn in the same direction for increased stability. Bentley Bentayga Speed: Design and customisation Visually, the Bentayga Speed retains its familiar SUV proportions but adds darker exterior elements. Features include dark-tinted headlamp and tail lamp bezels, 22-inch Speed wheels as standard, and an optional 23-inch wheel, a first for Bentley SUVs, available with the carbon ceramic brake package. Painted brake callipers in a range of colours are also available, reflecting the growing emphasis on personalisation in the luxury SUV segment.
