Mini quilting retreat stitches up success in Margate
The Hibiscus Quilters Guild hosted its first Mini Quilting Retreat at Hibiscus Retirement Village in Margate recently – an event that brought together quilting enthusiasts from across the region.
A total of 40 women participated in a variety of workshops, taught by five accredited quilting teachers. The retreat welcomed 18 attendees from other guilds, while 22 represented the Hibiscus Quilters Guild itself.
The event was a hive of activity, with visitors to the hall admiring the intricate work on display, chatting with quilters, and supporting local vendors such as Bernina Durban North and May-Gene fabrics.
Each teacher and delegate were treated to a goodie bag, adding an extra touch of delight to the day.
Guild chairperson Elna Stringer said she was thrilled with the turnout and the enthusiasm shown throughout the retreat.
'It was a wonderful day of learning, laughter and sharing ideas. We're so grateful to everyone who supported the event,' she said.
Thanks was also extended to the Munro Café staff for ensuring the coffee and tea kept flowing and for the enjoyable lunch provided.
