Coronation Street star Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy Swain in the ITV soap, has been showing her support for some of her new castmates as she also teased fans with a 'busy' update Coronation Street's Sydney Martin has given fans a glimpse into her 'busy' life while showing support for the soap's fresh faces. Best recognised for her portrayal of Betsy Swain on the ITV soap, Sydney joined the Corrie cast last year, achieving her major television breakthrough after previous auditions for different parts in the show. Hailing from Rossendale, Sydney was officially introduced as Betsy Swain, daughter of the well-known DS Lisa Swain, last summer, having initially appeared as a friend of Sabrina Adetiba's character. Celebrating a year since taking on the role, Sydney shared an endearing post on Instagram, featuring a radiant selfie with a celebratory cake topped with a lit '1' candle, reports the Manchester Evening News. In her heartfelt caption, the 23-year-old actress expressed: "1 whole year of Betsy Swain. So incredibly lucky and grateful. I [love] my job." Sydney has now hinted at a hectic schedule for her character as she made a comeback on TikTok with a new 'haul' video. She begins the clip by saying: "Hello, long time no see! "Work's been crazy busy which is exciting because that means there's lots of stuff coming up. But in true Sydney fashion, I thought I'd come back with a little haul." Sydney has been indulging in some 'retail therapy' with her close mate and fellow soap star, Isabelle Smith, known for her role as Frankie Osbourne in Hollyoaks. In her latest social media update, Sydney shared: "Hello strangers! Life's been busy busy but back with a collective haul. Sending lots of love." Her followers were quick to show their enthusiasm. One fan commented: "We are excited for what lies ahead in world of Betsy." Another expressed: "I love when you post! ! ! Can't wait to see on you on Corrie soon angel." A third chimed in: "Glad to have you back." Sydney has also been spotted showing support for her new colleagues. In a recent episode of Corrie aired on Monday (July 14), viewers watched Mick Michaelis make a daring escape from prison, where he was serving time for the murder of PC Craig Tinker, all in an effort to gather his family and flee Weatherfield. The audience witnessed Mick's desperate search for his eldest daughter, Joanie, alongside his son, Brody, after already securing the youngest Michaelis sibling, Shanice. In a gripping sequence, Sally Metcalfe found herself on the roof of Underworld with Joanie, leading to a tense confrontation with Mick, who ultimately surrendered to the police following an apology to his frightened daughter. Savanna Pennington, the young actress playing Joanie, took to Instagram to share some behind-the-scenes snaps, inviting fans to "Swipe for some behind the scenes.. "One of my favourite episodes yet! .. not bias. Thank you to all amazing cast and crew @coronationstreet for making it so much fun! Coronation Street villain makes horror return from the dead as victim is haunted in harrowing scenes
CORONATION Street fans are in for a shock as a twisted villain makes a chilling return from beyond the grave - leaving their former victim haunted in terrifying scenes. Lauren Bolton was left horrified in tonight's (Monday) episode after she thought evil Joel Deering had come back from the dead in spine-tingling scenes. 4 4 The troubled teen - played by Cait Fitton - agreed to join pal Betsy Swain at Aadi Alahan's wild midsummer bash, but things took a dark turn when she unknowingly drank lemonade laced with LSD. Stumbling into the ginnel in a drug -fuelled haze, Lauren was approached by a mystery man checking if she was okay - but in her hallucinatory state, she was convinced it was twisted abuser Joel and totally freaked out. As the hallucinations intensified, Lauren found herself inside the factory, convinced that monster Joel had kidnapped baby Frankie. By the time a panicked Aadi tracked her down, she was in a state of complete hysteria - sobbing, shaking and terrified. But will Lauren be able to bounce back from the traumatic trip? Or has this harrowing ordeal reopened old wounds that may never heal? Corrie viewers know that Joel put Lauren through a living nightmare - grooming, manipulating and eventually attacking her before leaving her for dead. Her disappearance sparked a murder investigation, only for her to reappear alive… and pregnant with his baby. But the horror didn't end there. In a sickening twist, Joel tried to drug Lauren to bring on early labour and force her to lose the baby. Thankfully, the evil plan backfired, and Lauren went on to safely give birth to little Frankie. Joel's reign of terror only ended when Lauren struck him with a rock - in a desperate bid to save Max Turner from being strangled. She later stood trial for his death but was found not guilty. Now, Lauren has been trying to rebuild her life as a young mum - but her terrifying trip may prove that her past still isn't done haunting her. A FORGOTTEN Coronation Street storyline could be revived as fans 'suss out' a shock paternity twist. Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) has become a major presence on the cobbles since arriving last year. 4 4 4 Viewers have already suspected he is the biological father of troublesome Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey). Writing online, fans have speculated another shock paternity twist for Kit - and it could tie into a "forgotten" mystery. One person penned on Reddit: "The DNA test hasn't been taken yet but I think Kit has already been confirmed to be the father of Brody. "Was he missing tonight bc he was taking the test? "How long will he have to wait for the results?" The online user then turned their attention to Betsy Swain (Sydney Martin) - the daughter of Kit's police colleague Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers). They added: "Betsy's father/ the donor was brought up tonight. I know he was used as a lie, but it got me thinking. "Betsy is likely 17 now, so maybe in around a year, she'll want to learn more about him. "He's probably just a stranger, but if he were someone on the street, who could it be? "Kit would probably be the most likely guess, but he would've been 13/14 when Becky got pregnant. History of the Coronation Street set By Jake Penkethman, TV Reporter 1960-1968 - Whilst the Coronation Street set remained on Quay Street for 53 years, it actually had three separate studio sites. The first was an entirely indoor wooden set which was used for the first eight years of filming. This encompassed a replica of the Street built entirely indoors. The set was known to be awkward for actors to use and the houses brought to three quarter scale. 1968-1982 - In 1968, the addition of an outdoor set was created to adjoin the existing indoor set which was still used for filming right up until 1982. The set was used only when required with many of the show's cast reportedly hating it and describing it as 'the coldest place on Earth'. 1982-2013 - A brand new set was officially constructed in 1982 and was almost built fully to scale but still only permitted for one car to drive down the cobbled street. The house were purpose-built using reclaimed Salford brick in order to give it the most authentic feel possible. During these years, some of the show's buildings were adapted to allow for both interior and exterior filming at the same time. These locations included Elliott's Butchers, Barlow's Buys, Prima Doner and Webster's Autos. The final scenes to be recorded on this site occurred in December 2013. By early 2014, it began operating as a tourist attraction for around two years before ultimately being demolished and re-purposed in 2017. 2014-present - In early 2014, the show's set moved to the TV hub of the North - MediaCityUK in nearby Salford Quays. It is now located a stone's throw from major TV studio Dock 10 as well as the BBC's base in the North - home to Blue Peter, Newsround, BBC Breakfast and BBC Sport. The new set was even bigger and built to 9/10 the scale of a real street and allowed for two card to be travelling down the road at opposite sides for the very first time. The site has even undergone major expansions during its 10 years. Just four years after opening in 2018, a brand new set extension was unveiled which introduced viewers to Victoria Gardens for the first time in its history. The Weatherfield North tram stop also became visible as did a series of shops which became used as part of product placement advertising deals. Brands to have been seen on the Street so far include a Co-Op, a Costa Coffee and a branch of Hay's Travel. Four years later in 2022, another brand new set was unveiled, this time being the heavily mentioned Weatherfield Precinct. It became the first time in 62 years that the area had ever been seen on screens. It fearued a variety of shop fronts, a playground and a number of small flats which have begun to house more and more residents on the street in recent months. Since arriving in Coronation Street, she had a short-lived bond with reformed bully Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan). Although this ended in tragedy when Mason was killed off at the start of the year. Betsy has also adjusted to life with her mum's new partner, Carla Connor (Alison King). 4

The troublemaker, played by Sydney Martin, has been at the heart of a number of key storylines. After she first appeared on the famous cobbles last year as the daughter of DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), she was left heartbroken when her boyfriend, Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan), met a tragic end. Her grief was compounded when she was shot in a terrifying incident. A harrowing episode showed Rob Donovan (Marc Bayliss) taking Lisa, Tracy (Kate Ford), and Carla Connor (Alison King) hostage, leading to Betsy being shot and losing feeling in her arm. This injury has greatly affected Betsy, and this week she sought retribution on Tracy. After stealing her flower van with Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), she inadvertently crashed it.
