Saanand Verma calls his role in ‘First Copy' a reflection of real industry dynamics

Mumbai: Actor Saanand Verma has opened up about his role in the project 'First Copy,' calling it one of the most layered characters he has portrayed. The 'Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain' actor shared that the role is deeply rooted in the real dynamics of the entertainment industry, offering an honest and compelling look at the complexities behind the glamour of showbiz. Speaking about his character, Verma said, 'I play the right-hand man of a very big film producer from Bollywood, played by Ehsaan Grover. My character works closely with him—he's the go-to guy, the problem-solver. In the story, the producer becomes a victim of piracy. A film he didn't even release gets leaked, and that sparks off a huge conflict. I have more scenes in Season 2, but my arc begins in Season 1. The role is interesting because it's layered with real industry dynamics.' Saanand added, 'I've seen what piracy did to cinema in the '90s. I might not have watched movies at home on VCRs, but I've seen neighbors and people in the mohalla watch pirated VHS tapes in big groups—50, 60, even 100 people gathered in one house, watching films back-to-back the entire night. They used to rent VCRs, watch three films in one go, and return the device the next morning. That frenzy, that underground film culture, I've witnessed it. So when this story came to me, I felt a strong personal connect.' The 'Mardaani' actor also explained the meaning behind the title First Copy, describing it as a term commonly used to refer to pirated or counterfeit versions of original products. He drew a comparison, noting how luxury items like a ₹5 lakh Rolex often have cheaper replicas sold for a fraction of the price. In the context of cinema, he said, First Copy refers to films intended for theatrical release that are illegally duplicated and circulated for home viewing. Furthermore, talking about working with Munawar Faruqui, Saanand stated, 'He's intelligent, funny, and really sharp. You won't believe it's his first time acting in a fictional series—he was so natural, like he's been doing it for 25 years. There was no nervousness, he was fully immersed in his character. Working with him was pure joy. And because of this show, we've also become really good friends. I truly admire him—not just as an artist, but as a person. He's got charm, humility, and a brilliant sense of humor.' 'First Copy,' which revolves around the impact of film piracy in India, marked Munawar Faruqui's acting debut. The web series was released on June 20th, 2025, on Amazon MX Player.

On the occasion of World Laughter Day (May 5), actor Vipin Heero , known for his role as Malkhaan in the hit sitcom Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain , shared heartfelt thoughts on the power of laughter. The actor, who is part of the show produced under the Edit II banner, believes that his contribution to making people laugh holds deep meaning in today's stressful world. 'As an actor, I feel I am doing something truly valuable by bringing a smile to people's faces. There's already so much tension in everyone's life—if I can make someone laugh for even a few moments, I consider that a big success,' said Vipin. He emphasized that both laughing and spreading laughter are essential for a fulfilling life. 'Laughter keeps stress away, improves health, and helps you enjoy life more. It's like a free therapy session we all need but often ignore,' he added. Shubhangi Atre reveals she left late Piyush Poorey due to his alcohol addiction: 'Even sending him to rehab didn't work'

Actor Shubhangi Atre has opened up about the reason why she and her ex-husband, late Piyush Poorey, got divorced. Speaking with Times of India, she shared that the reason behind their separation was his alcohol addiction. Shubhangi and Piyush legally parted ways in February this year. He died recently after a battle with liver cirrhosis. (Also Read | Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hain actor Shubhangi Atre's ex-husband dies, she says: Give me some time to talk about this) Shubhangi said that she spoke with Piyush on April 16 and prayed for his recovery. She also said that she is "emotional and numb" at the moment. She said, "It's easy for people to judge without knowing the full story. They assume I left him due to my success, but that's not true. Our separation was a result of years of struggle. I didn't leave because I became successful, I left because his alcohol addiction took a toll on our lives. I tried everything I could to save my marriage, but it was beyond my control. Even sending him to rehab didn't work. Both our families also tried their best to help him, but addiction destroyed him and affected all of us." Talking about their daughter Ashi, she said, "I had to prioritise my daughter Ashi's well-being, so I made the difficult decision to part ways. It wasn't a decision made overnight. Things started going wrong around 2018-2019, and it eventually led to the divorce in 2025. Even after our divorce, I remained in touch with Piyush and encouraged him to seek help. I also share an extremely cordial relationship with his family...I feel my daughter has suffered more than I have." Shubhangi said she would meet Piyush's family in Indore soon. Ashi, who is studying in the US, will finish her final exams and come to India. The mother-daughter duo will then go to Indore together. The couple tied the knot in Indore in 2003. Shubhangi and Piyush were blessed with their daughter two years later in 2005. Last year, before their divorce, a source told Hindustan Times, 'There was a time when the couple tried to work on their relationship and give a second chance to their marriage. But that didn't work out. They have made peace with the fact that they can't live together, but they don't want to go ahead with the divorce proceedings.' The actor is known for appearing in shows such as Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Kasturi, and Chidiya Ghar. She is best known for playing Angoori Bhabhi in Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hain.
