Bhagyalakshmi criticizes actor Tini Tom for ‘Baseless' remarks about Prem Nazir's final days - 'Deeply hurtful'
(Picture Courtesy: Facebook) Veteran actor and dubbing artist Bhagyalakshmi has publicly condemned actor Tini Tom for his recent claims about legendary Malayalam actor Prem Nazir . In a heartfelt video shared on social media, Bhagyalakshmi said she was disturbed by Tini's suggestion that Nazir had spent his final days 'crying at the houses of Adoor Bhasi and Bahadoor' due to lack of film opportunities. 'For those of us who worked with him in Madras till 1985, who knew him closely and experienced his generosity, this is painful,' she said. 'I personally met him shortly before his death at Edappazhanji in Thiruvananthapuram. He was happy and surrounded by his family. That was one of the most peaceful phases of his life.' "You cannot repeat everything you hear" Bhagyalakshmi stressed that public figures must exercise caution when speaking about others, especially someone of Prem Nazir's stature. 'Even if Tini heard this from someone else, he should not have repeated it without verifying the facts,' she said, calling the claim misleading and harmful. Celebrating Prem Nazir's birth anniversary She pointed out that many YouTube channels today share unverified stories about late actors for views, but it's not acceptable for someone from the industry to echo such narratives. 'Tini Tom wasn't even active in cinema when Nazir sir was alive,' she reminded, adding that such remarks discredit the truth known to those who actually spent time with the legendary actor. "Nazir sir was never that man" Bhagyalakshmi recalled how Prem Nazir would often turn down roles saying, 'Let someone else do it... call him instead.' She described him as a generous host whose Madras home was always open to fellow artists from Kerala. 'He never cried for roles. He never sought pity. To paint him as someone who begged for work in his final days is a disservice to his legacy and hurtful to his family.' Her message to Tini Tom was clear: 'If you believe that about Nazir sir, it's time to change that belief.'

"Why did you ignore Bhagyalakshmi temple?": BJP leader Subash slams Telangana govt
Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], May 14 (ANI): BJP leader NV Subash on Wednesday accused the Revanth Reddy government of deliberately ignoring Hindu temples, notably the Bhagyalakshmi temple, during the Miss World 2025 pageant, which has kicked off in the city. Contestants from 109 countries are participating in the 72nd Miss World competition. Subash claimed that despite conducting a grand gala event in the Old City, the government failed to include the Bhagyalakshmi temple in the contestants' and officials' itinerary. 'The Miss World competition has started in Hyderabad. This is being viewed by more than 140 countries in the world. Telangana BJP asks Revanth Reddy government, when you have just conducted a grand gala event in the Old City and the contestants and officials visited all the important places, why did you ignore the Bhagyalakshmi temple?' he questioned. The BJP leader suspected that the government might be in collusion with the AIMIM party to deliberately ignore Hindu temples and accused them of being done to appease the voters ahead of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation polls. 'We doubt that you have come together with the AIMIM party to ensure that these contestants cannot see the Bhagyalakshmi temple. BJP blames Revant Reddy govt, Congress for deliberately ignoring Hindu temples as GHMC elections are coming,' he further said. He further stated that the Bhagyalakshmi temple is very famous, and people come from different parts of the country and take the blessings of the Goddess. Subash stated that if these contestants had visited Bhagyalakshmi temple, they would have told the people in their respective countries about the culture of Telangana, especially Hindu temples. Earlier as part of the Miss World 2025 event being hosted in Hyderabad, 109 contestants representing countries from across the globe visited the iconic Charminar in Hyderabad. Restoration work of damaged Charminar minaret underway
Hyderabad: The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) began restoration work on one of Charminar's minarets after a piece broke off earlier this month during heavy rainfall. The fragment, which fell from the southeastern minaret, landed near the Bhagyalakshmi temple at the base of the monument. Smitha Kumar, deputy superintendent of ASI, confirmed that the restoration process is now underway and will also include a structural assessment of the remaining minarets to prevent further damage. "Staying true to heritage conservation practices, the ASI is using materials such as lime, sand, etc., to carry out the repairs. The aim is to restore the plasterwork without compromising the monument's original architectural integrity," she added. Staff stationed at the monument pointed out that the minarets were not included during the restoration efforts conducted just ahead of Ramzan. "There are chances that the other minarets could get damaged if repair work is not carried out on them as well," said one of the staff members, raising concerns about the stability of the other sections. The ASI erected scaffolding and wrapped the affected minaret to shield it from further environmental impact as the repairs progress. "We were waiting for dry weather to commence the work; however, frequent rains delayed it," Kumar added.
