Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Renaming Ahead of Launch? Here's What It Could Be Called

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has made its intentions clear to enter the electric mobility space. The brand's first vehicle to be launched in this category was supposed to be named e Vitara. However, events seem to have taken a different turn. The brand seems to be reconsidering the name. In a recent development, a test mule of the vehicle was spotted testing with a different badge "eEscudo". This seems to be a hint at a name change. The possibility of a name change seems even more probable because the SUV was initially called eVX concept. However, the brand changed the name of the vehicle to eVitara. The name was further confirmed at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. To add to this, the name Escudo has been used by the brand in the Japanese market for models like Vitara. However, the name e Vitara has already been used for the car in the UK. The brand has gradually revealed multiple details about the vehicle so far. Firstly, in terms of design, the vehicle features a three-point matrix LED daytime running light seamlessly integrated into the headlight. Moreover, the unique piano black accents located in the center of the headlight are also quite striking. The branding for Nexa has been placed on the rear windshield. This is all enhanced by 18-inch alloy wheels, robust C pillars, and a revamped style for the LED taillights. Concerning features, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara or now eEscudo offers ventilated front seats, a driver's seat with 10 different adjustments, rear seats that can slide and recline, 7 airbags, Level-2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, a wireless charging pad, keyless entry, a ride-by-wire system, and ambient lighting. The Maruti Suzuki E Vitara (eEscudo) will come with two different battery sizes: 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The smaller battery is expected to provide a WLTP range of 346 km, while the larger one is projected to achieve a range of 428 km in its single-motor configuration. Meanwhile, the dual-motor variant with the 61 kWh battery pack will have a range of 412 km. In terms of performance, the single-motor model with the 49 kWh battery has a power output of 142 bhp, while the 61 kWh variant delivers a higher output of 172 bhp. Both models produce a peak torque of 192.5 Nm. On the other hand, the all-wheel-drive variant, which comes with dual motors, generates a combined output of 178 bhp and 300 Nm of torque.

Eka Mobility's New Electric Rickshaws Spotted Testing, Full Details Inside

Last Updated: With rising fuel costs and growing concern about pollution, these new e-rickshaws could offer a cleaner and cheaper alternative for last-mile transport. Eka Mobility, a Pune-based electric vehicle (EV) company, is ready to launch two new electric three-wheelers in India – the Eka 3S and Eka 6S. As per Team BHP, both models have been seen testing on Indian roads and are in the final stages of development. These upcoming e-rickshaws were also showcased earlier this year at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, where they gained a lot of attention for their promising performance and design. What Makes Eka 3S Special? The Eka 3S is a compact three-seater e-rickshaw, ideal for city travel. It is powered by a 10.75 kWh LFP (Lithium Ferrous Phosphate) battery, which delivers 13.4 BHP and 55 Nm of torque. This rickshaw can reach speeds of up to 60 km/h and offers a driving range of 160 km on a full charge. Designed for everyday use in urban areas, the Eka 3S is perfect for short commutes and last-mile connectivity. How is Eka 6S Different? If you're looking for more space, the Eka 6S steps in with seating for six passengers, plus the driver. It runs on a larger 15 kWh battery pack and offers a range of 140 km per charge. With 16.1 BHP and 65 Nm of torque, the 6S reaches a top speed of 50 km/h. What Else Does Eka Offer? Apart from e-rickshaws, Eka Mobility also manufactures electric trucks and buses, aiming to transform public and commercial transport across India. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. It has been treated with a futuristic set of LED units at the back with a trending connected light bar.
