SRM, Stellantis collaborate for EV innovation
Hyderabad: SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST)'s Centre for Electrical Mobility (CEM) and Stellantis India have come together for EV innovation. 'We applaud SRMIST's visionary approach to EV research. Their focus on real-world innovation and academic excellence complements Stellantis' mission to drive sustainable mobility forward.' Ashwin Kaundinya, Stellantis India official, said applauding the new partnership that will aim at driving innovation in electric vehicle research. The collaboration leverages the advanced research environment cultivated within the CEM, to accelerate innovation, skill development, and the transformation of conceptual breakthroughs into market-ready EV technologies. 'Our DST-PURSE grant underscores SRMIST's commitment to advancing electric and autonomous mobility,' Bharatiraja Chokkalingam, Centre Head - SRM Centre for Electric Mobility said.

SRMIST partners with Stellantis India for EV research and training
SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST) and Stellantis India have formed a partnership aimed at developing electric vehicle (EV) technologies and training skilled engineers for the EV sector. The collaboration will take place through SRMIST's Centre for Electrical Mobility (CEM), which will work with Stellantis on joint research projects, skill-building initiatives, and real-world testing of EV components. Industry support and hands-on learning As part of the agreement, Stellantis has provided two Citroën ë-C3 electric vehicles to CEM. These vehicles will be used by students and researchers for testing, diagnostics, and performance evaluation. 'This initiative allows students to work on real-world vehicles, deepening their practical knowledge and accelerating the development of job-ready EV engineers,' the institute stated. Dr C. Muthamizhchelvan, Vice Chancellor, SRMIST, said, 'At SRM IST, we are committed to building an ecosystem of innovation that advances the frontiers of electric mobility, sustainability, and automobile engineering . Through collaborations with industry leaders and investment in research infrastructure, we are shaping the next generation of engineers.' Dr Bharatiraja Chokkalingam, Head of CEM, added that the DST-PURSE grant is being used to establish a national platform for electric and autonomous mobility. 'We're creating a platform that unites innovation, skill development, and industry-focused education,' he said. Stellantis to share technical expertise Stellantis engineers will work closely with SRMIST faculty to identify key research areas and support skill development through workshops and technical sessions.
