BSV brings performing arts therapy to children with special needs
: Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (BSV) is set to begin music and dance therapy courses for children with disabilities through a new partnership with The Hope Foundation. The programme will support children with Autism, ADHD, and Intellectual Disabilities by offering specialised training in music and movement. The university and the foundation may set up a National Resource Centre for Art-Based Neuro Therapy (For representation only) As part of the collaboration, short-term certificate courses will be introduced. These will focus on rhythm, vocal expression, dance, expressions, and group performance. University students will also get a chance to take up internships to support therapy sessions. The partnership will also explore research opportunities in areas such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and neuro-musical techniques, using case studies and documentation. In future, the university and the foundation may set up a National Resource Centre for Art-Based Neuro Therapy, which could help create self-employment opportunities in performing arts for children with special needs. 'These courses will help empower children with disabilities by offering them career options and supporting their intellectual growth,' said BSV Vice Chancellor prof Mandavi Singh.

Design a logo for Bhatkhande Univ and win cash award
Lucknow: Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya has launched a national level logo competition, offering creative minds across the country an opportunity to leave their mark on the institution's legacy. The competition, which kicked off on Friday, welcomes entries from artists, designers, and cultural enthusiasts without any age restrictions. The university has announced attractive cash prizes, with the winner set to receive Rs 50,000, while the runner-up will be awarded Rs 20,000. Participants have until July 24 to submit their entries through the university's official website. "The winning logo will be incorporated into the university's official communications and identity," said vice chancellor Prof Mandavi Singh. "This initiative aims to nurture creativity and showcase young talent," she added. The evaluation criteria will focus on creativity, technical excellence, visual impact, and thematic relevance. The university has specified that designs must not contain any provocative, objectionable, or inappropriate content. Interested participants can submit their entries online through the university's official portal. The competition comes with no entry fee.

New look, better sound & lights: IconicBali auditorium reopens after 6 years
TNN Lucknow: The Rai Umanath Bali auditorium, a cultural landmark in the city, which has seen the best of city's theatre in the past, reopened after six years on Friday following an extensive renovation work. Renovated at the cost of about Rs 3.81 crore, the light and sound system in the auditorium with the seating capacity of 246 has been improved. The renovation of the auditorium also includes new seats and covers carpets, improved air conditioners and fire safety. Constructed by the culture department, the auditorium was opened to the public on March 27, 1987, by the then chief minister Veer Bahadur Singh. On Friday, the renovated auditorium was inaugurated by culture and tourism minister Jaiveer Singh. The auditorium was named after one of the founder members of Marris College of Hindustani Music, now Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, said Daya Prakash Sinha, who was state cultural secretary at that time. The first play staged in the auditorium was 'Yahudi Ki Ladki', which starred city theatre's doyen Anil Rastogi and was directed by Urmil Thapliyal, he added. The minister announced that from now on performance remuneration will be transferred directly to bank accounts of artists. He also said a pension scheme for senior artists is also in the pipeline. Principal secretary Mukesh Meshram announced that cultural competitions will be held across Uttar Pradesh from block to district levels and winners will be felicitated during the UP Diwas celebrations. Bhatkhande extends application deadline to June 30
Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya has announced an extension of its application deadline to June 30 for all UG, PG and diploma courses. Applications are being accepted through the Samarth Portal. Vice chancellor Prof Mandavi Singh informed that students can access course-related information and submit their applications through the university's official website.

Classical dance performances marks end of workshop
Lucknow: The month-long summer workshop organized by Pandit Birju Maharaj Kathak Sansthan (BMKS) concluded on a high note with a spectacular showcase of classical dance performances at Kala Mandapam on Monday. Prof Mandavi Singh, vice chancellor of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, and Sanjay Kumar Singh, special secretary of culture department, graced the occasion as chief guests. The evening commenced with a soul-stirring Saraswati Vandana, 'Kudendu Tushar Har Dhavla' in raag bhopali. Students then presented a vilambit composition on the bhajan 'Achaytum Sundaram Damodaram', followed by an enchanting Vishnu Vandana. The highlight of the evening was a delightful performance set to 'Jaa Tose Nahi Bolungi Kanhaiya', which beautifully portrayed the playful romance between characters through classical Kathak movements. Programme ended with a riveting dance drama 'Vishnu Avatar Narsingh' performed by artist Upasna Dixit. The musical accompaniment was directed by Meena Verma and Anand Dixit. BMKS president Kum Kum Dhar and vice president Mithilesh Tiwari were present. The event showcased the rich cultural heritage of classical dance while highlighting the institution's commitment to nurturing young talent in the field of Kathak.
