Bhavans-Bahrain Indian School excels at World Scholar's Cup Global Round in Doha
Students from Bhavans-Bahrain Indian School (BIS) clinched a remarkable array of honours at the World Scholar's Cup (WSC) Global Round 2025, held in Doha from June 12-17, showcasing their interdisciplinary academic prowess. The school's senior and junior divisions secured numerous gold and silver medals, alongside prestigious qualification for the Tournament of Champions (ToC). In the Senior Division, Team 652 – comprising Prince Shrestha, Daksh Choudhary, and Kushagra Sah – secured seventh place overall, earning a gold medal and trophy. The trio also claimed gold in Team Challenge, Team Bowl, and Team Debate. Prince Shrestha individually excelled with multiple gold medals, including in Individual Debate and Overall Scholar. Daksh Choudhary earned gold in Debate and Overall Scholar, while Kushagra Sah secured gold in Individual Debate and Overall Scholar categories. Another Senior Division team, 653C (Jonath Jerril Aricatt, John Paul, and Vedanta), took first place in the 'BarelyOld Top Teams' category and qualified 15th for the ToC Global Round. Jonath Jerril Aricatt notably won gold medals in Individual Debate, Team Bowl, and Team Debate. John Paul received multiple trophies and gold medals across writing, debate, and challenge events. Vedanta's performance included gold medals in Team Debate, Team Writing, and ToC Qualification. In the Junior Division, Team 201 – with Lavanya Agarwal, Prakriti, and Arnav Singh Dewan – achieved an impressive second place overall, earning a ToC qualifying trophy and medal. They secured second in Team Bowl and third in Team Challenge. Lavanya Agarwal won individual and team gold in Collaborative Writing, while Prakriti earned gold in Individual Debate and Overall Scholar. Arnav Singh Dewan stood out with third place trophies for Overall Individual and Challenge events, and a gold medal as the top scorer in Science and Technology. Additional junior participants, including Vihaan Pande, Satakshi Dev, Harshavardhan Murugan, Burhanuddin Hussain, and Krishna Niraj Varia, also significantly contributed to the school's medal tally.

Bhavans – BIS honours academic excellence, felicitates class 10 & 12 toppers
Bhavans-Bahrain Indian School (BIS) hosted its Annual Award Ceremony on Sunday, to honour the exceptional performance of the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 toppers for the academic year 2024–25. The ceremony held in the school auditorium brought together the entire school community to recognise and applaud the young scholars. This special event was organised to honour the top-performing students of AISSE (Grade 10) and AISSCE (Grade 12) CBSE Board Examinations, who had achieved remarkable results. They were presented with certificates of achievement and memento. School Directors Himanshu Verma and Ritu Verma, Principal Saji Jacob commended the toppers. In the Science stream, Evan Binson John secured the first position with an impressive overall score of 95.8%, followed closely by Adesh Deepthi Shaiju, who earned the second position with 95.4%. Evan also emerged as a subject topper in several subjects, scoring 99 in Chemistry and Mathematics, 96 in Computer Science, and 95 in Physics. Adesh Deepthi Shaiju stood out with 99 in Biology and 95 in English. In the Commerce stream, Nivedya Babu secured the first position with a stellar 95.6% and emerged as a subject topper in Economics (98), Business Studies (99), English (95) and Accountancy (95). Her performance was a highlight of the Commerce department's success. Natalia Manoojin Richards also made a mark in the stream by achieving 90% in Marketing. The achievements of the Grade 10 students were equally commendable. Pritha Singh stood first with a remarkable 97.4%, followed by Sriya Anish Pulinamparambil in second place with 97.2%, and Manjira Goswami in third place with 96.2%. Preetham Reddy Nagula (Mathematics), Vismita Rajesh Iyer (French), and Pritha Singh (English) distinguished themselves by securing a perfect score of 100 marks in their respective subjects. Pritha Singh also topped in Hindi, and Science, while Sriya Anish Pulinamparambil topped in Hindi and Science as well. Other subject toppers included Pahal Poojaben Mehta (Sanskrit), Manveeth Praveen Urwa (Science, Social Science), and Harshavardhan Chellaraja (Science).

Bhavans - BIS and Bahrain Transport Company join hands for road safety awareness
The Bahrain Transport Company, in collaboration with Bhavans-Bahrain Indian School (BIS), hosted a comprehensive Road Safety Awareness Workshop on June 12, at the school auditorium, engaging students and teachers from Grades 3 and 4. The initiative aimed to instill essential road safety values in young learners through a thoughtfully designed program. Facilitated by Abdullah, Public Relations Officer, and Sameer, People Development Manager, along with their dedicated team, the workshop unfolded in two focused sessions. The first, led by Abba Hussain, QHSE Manager, introduced children to the fundamentals of road safety using interactive methods. Topics included understanding traffic signs, the significance of pedestrian rules, and a special feature on the Bahrain Red Bus service, which emphasized its environmental benefits, cost-effectiveness, and onboard amenities such as free Wi-Fi. The second session, led by Zainab from the Safety Administration Team, focused on school bus safety, teaching students how to identify danger zones around buses and practice safe behaviour while boarding, riding, and disembarking. A quiz session followed, offering students a fun and engaging way to reinforce their newly acquired knowledge. The Directors Himanshu Verma and Ritu Verma, and the Principal Saji Jacob expressed their gratitude to the Bahrain Transport Company for organizing such the workshop.

Bhavans-Bahrain Indian School marked World Environment Day 2025 with a celebration that reflected its deep commitment to environmental awareness, sustainability, and education. The day unfolded with a series of creative and meaningful activities that united students and educators in a shared mission: to care for our planet. Themed 'Let's Stand Together for the Earth – Because Every Small Step Counts', the event began with a special assembly that included skits, speeches, and songs that paid a tribute to Mother Earth and highlighted the urgent need for environmental conservation. engaged in meaningful discussions on pressing environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, and sustainable living, sparking awareness and a sense of responsibility. The highlight of the day was the participation in the 'Best Out of Waste' activities, where students transformed discarded materials into creative and functional masterpieces, proving that sustainability and innovation go hand in hand. In the Kindergarten students participated eco-friendly activities - crafting projects using recycled materials and waste products, exploring basic STEAM concepts, and dressing in green outfits. To further enhance environmental awareness, students also tackled word puzzles and crossword games themed around environmental vocabulary, blending fun with learning and reinforcing key concepts in a memorable way.

Bhavans-Bahrain Indian School excels in international exam
Bhavans-Bahrain Indian School (BIS) distinguished itself on the global academic stage by delivering an extraordinary performance in the 2023 Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS). The school's results not only surpassed international averages but also significantly outperformed national benchmarks in both Mathematics and Science at the Grade 4 and Grade 8 levels. TIMSS 2023 is the eighth cycle of a comprehensive international assessment that measures student achievement in mathematics and science at the fourth and eighth-grade levels. The exceptional achievement places Bahrain Indian School among the top-performing schools in the Kingdom. In recognition of these results, the school was honoured by Education Minister Dr. Mohamed bin Mubarak Juma during a ceremony held on Thursday, 22 May 2025 at the Ministry of Education Hall, Isa Town. The Minister also honoured Principal Saji Jacob and his dedicated team of Vice Principal and Educators for their relentless contribution to Bahrain's growing global reputation in education. In Grade 4, the school's students scored an impressive average of 626 in Mathematics and 642 in Science, significantly exceeding the international averages of 503 (Maths) and 494 (Science), and Bahrain's national averages of 462 and 475 respectively. Grade 8 students continued this high performance with an average score of 590 in Mathematics and 643 in Science, compared to international averages of 478 and Bahrain's averages of 426 (Maths) and 452 (Science). The Directors Himanshu Verma and Ritu Verma expressed immense pride in the accomplishments of the school's students and staff.
