Bhoomi Puja performed for IOC gas storage facility at Tirumala
Tirumala: TTD Chairman B R Naidu performed the Bhoomi Puja on Wednesday for the construction of an LPG gas storage facility with a capacity of 45 metric tonnes at Outer Ring Road, Tirumala, to meet TTD's future requirements. Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman said that IOCL has been continuously supplying LPG to TTD for the past two decades and that a new agreement has now been signed for uninterrupted supply for the next 30 years. The plant, to be jointly executed by TTD and IOCL, will be built in over 1.86 acres at a cost of Rs 8.13 crore and is expected to be completed within six months. The stored LPG will be used for the preparation of laddu prasadam and free meals. The Chairman noted that this initiative will help TTD save approximately Rs 1.50 crore annually. IOCL Marketing Director V Satish Kumar stated that a bio-gas plant was also under construction near the Tirumala dumping yard at a cost of Rs 12.05 crore. Of the 55 tonnes of wet waste generated daily, around 40 tonnes will be processed by IOCL to produce 1,000 kg of bio-gas each day. The new plant will be equipped with advanced safety and operational features, including 45 MT mounted storage vessels, a 1,500 kg vaporizer, fire-fighting systems, sprinkler mechanisms, two water tanks, a diesel generator set, remote-operated valves, gas leakage alarms, a tank lorry decantation system, CCTV surveillance, GMS, TFMS and ILSD. TTD chief engineer Satyanarayana, EEs Subrahmanyam, Sudhakar, DE Chandrasekhar, along with other officials from TTD and IOCL were present at the ceremony.

Foundation laid for a LPG storage facility for TTD
In a significant step towards strengthening infrastructure to meet the long-term energy needs of the hill temple, Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams Trust Board B.R. Naidu on Thursday performed 'Bhoomi Puja' for setting up a state-of-the-art 45 metric tonne LPG storage facility at Tirumala. The facility being developed on the outer ring road, in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹8.13 crore in over 1.86 acres of land and completed in six months. Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Naidu said that the IOCL has been a consistent supplier of LPG to the TTD since the past two decades and has now entered into a 30-year fresh agreement to ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG which he said will be primarily used in the preparation of the famed Tirumala laddu prasadam and at its daily Annadanam (community meals) complex and added that the initiative is expected to save a projected ₹1.5 crore annually in operational costs. IOCL Marketing Director V. Satish Kumar highlighted the corporation's ongoing commitment to sustainable practices. 'IOCL is already constructing a ₹12.05 crore bio-gas plant near the Tirumala dumping yard. Of the 55 tonnes of wet waste generated daily, 40 tonnes will be diverted to this new facility, which shall generate around 1,000 kilograms of bio-gas every day,' he explained. Several advanced safety and operational features will be incorporated at the LPG storage plant like — a 45 MT mounted storage vessels, 1,500 kg vaporizer, firefighting systems with sprinklers, dual water tanks, diesel generator, remote operating valves, gas leakage detection alarms, tanker decantation systems, CCTV surveillance, Gas Management System (GMS), Terminal Facility Monitoring System (TFMS) and Integrated Level Safety Device (ILSD). Also present at the event were TTD Chief Engineer TVV Satyanarayana and officials from both TTD and IOCL.

Foundation laid for Vedic school near Yadagirigutta temple
Yadagirigutta: Government Whip and Aleru MLA Beerla Illiaiah stated that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has taken initiative to establish a Vedic school near the renowned and sacred Yadadri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, with the aim of developing and preserving the Vedas and making Yadadri a center for Vedic learning. On Sunday, Bhoomi Pooja and foundation stone laying ceremonies were conducted for the construction of the protective compound wall (prakaram) around the proposed Vedic school site, located near Yadadri hill in the Temple City area. Speaking on the occasion, Beerla Illiaiah said that with the support of CM Revanth Reddy, the Vedic school would be built with an estimated cost of Rs 46 crore. He mentioned that the Bhoomi Puja and foundation stone laying for the boundary wall had been successfully completed and added that performing these rituals was a great spiritual merit earned from past deeds. He added that CM Revanth Reddy is committed not only to the development of Yadadri but also to providing various facilities for devotees. As part of the Van Mahotsav programme, saplings were planted at the site where the Vedic school will be constructed. The event was attended by EO Venkatrao, temple officials, priests, and local leaders.

Amarnath Yatra: First Prayer Held At Holy Cave; LG Manoj Sinha In Attendance
The Pratham Puja or first prayer marking the ceremonial commencement of the annual Amarnath Yatra, was held on Wednesday. It is typically performed on the auspicious occasion of Jyeshtha Purnima to invoke Lord Shiva's blessings for a safe, smooth, and successful pilgrimage. This year Pratham Puja of Amarnath Yatra was held today on June 11, 2025, coinciding with Jyeshtha Purnima. The ceremony was attended by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, who is also the chairman of the Shri Amarnath ji Shrine Board (SASB). The Lt. Governor performed the puja, seeking blessings from Baba Amarnath ji (Lord Shiva) for the good health, progress, and well-being of all people of the globe. Puja at the Amarnath Cave Shrine ceremony involved the chanting of Vedic mantras and shlokas dedicated to Lord Shiva to invoke divine blessings for the pilgrimage's success. Additional rituals performed on the same day include Bhoomi Puja, Navagraha Puja, Chhari Puja, and Dhwajarohan, with prasad distributed among devotees afterwards. The Shri Amarnath ji Shrine Board has made provisions for devotees to participate virtually through virtual puja, virtual hawan, and online prasad booking, accessible via the official SASB website Morning and evening aarti sessions are also telecast live for devotees. The Amarnath Yatra, including the Pratham Puja, is a symbol of communal harmony in Jammu and Kashmir, with people from various communities, including local Muslims, assisting pilgrims in reaching the shrine. The ritual underscores the ancient traditions of the region, with the SASB ensuring that the yatra is conducted smoothly. The Pratham Puja is a cherished event for millions of devotees worldwide, for whom the pilgrimage is a lifelong aspiration. This holy cave, situated at an altitude of 3,888 meters in the Kashmir Himalayas, had a naturally formed ice lingam. The 2025 Amarnath Yatra will be of 38 days, starting on July 3, and will end on August 9 on the day of Raksha Bandhan. Around 3.5 lakh pilgrims have registered themselves for this year's Yatra till now. The SASB has enhanced facilities, including infrastructure, security, medical aid, and RFID tracking for pilgrims. Pilgrims must register in advance, carry Aadhaar details for RFID cards, and obtain a Compulsory Health Certificate (CHC) issued on or after April 8, 2025. Given recent security concerns in the region, extensive arrangements, including the deployment of 581 additional security battalions are in place to ensure pilgrim safety.

Amit Shah to lay foundation stone for National Forensic Science University tomorrow
Nagpur: Union home minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone for the Nagpur campus of the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) at Kamptee on Monday, marking a major milestone in Maharashtra's efforts to become a hub for forensic science education. As first reported by TOI on Jan 15, the Nagpur campus, located on a 50-acre site in Mouza Chicholi, will be NFSU's tenth across India and the second in Maharashtra after Pune. The permanent campus is expected to be ready within two years. Until then, the university will operate from a temporary campus at Nagpur University's building near the Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), currently housing the Police Bharosa Cell. This facility has two vacant floors that will be repurposed for NFSU's academic and research activities. Amit Shah will also inaugurate the temporary campus virtually. "This new campus will strengthen forensic research and innovation, equipping students with specialised skills crucial for law enforcement and cyber investigations," said a home ministry spokesperson. The Nagpur campus will offer courses such as MSc in Forensic Science, MSc in Cyber Journalism, and a Professional Diploma in Crime Scene Management. Online admissions for the first academic session started on March 18, with applications closing on May 5. The initiative aligns with the growing demand for forensic experts across India, aiming to nurture professionals for careers in law enforcement, criminal justice, and beyond. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, then chief minister of Gujarat, established the NFSU in 2009 to develop skilled professionals in forensic sciences. The Gandhinagar-based university currently operates campuses in Delhi, Bhopal, Goa, Tripura, Pune, Guwahati, Manipur, Dharwad, and Uganda, with new campuses planned in Raipur, Chennai, Bhubaneshwar, and Jaipur. The establishment of the Nagpur campus is expected to bolster Vidarbha's educational landscape and enhance India's forensic capabilities, supporting the region's aspirations to emerge as a knowledge hub.
