B hopal: Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal is planning a substantial expansion of its domestic flight network with the introduction of the winter 2025 schedule, commencing in Oct 2025. Bhopal airport will be connected with Jewar International Airport, Kolkata, and Navi Mumbai. Director of Bhopal Airport, Ramjee Awasthi, said that the revised schedule encompasses additional destinations and enhanced flight frequencies to improve air connectivity across India. "The schedule features several notable additions," said Awasthi. IndiGo plans to resume direct services to Goa and Lucknow, while considering new routes to Kolkata (CCU) and Jewar (Noida International Airport). These services will operate alongside current flights to Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Raipur, Ahmedabad, and Bangalore. The airport's connectivity will be enhanced with new direct flights to Kolkata, Navi Mumbai, and Jewar, linking Bhopal with significant commercial centres and emerging aviation facilities. Air India Express will broaden its presence with two additional Bengaluru flights and one to Navi Mumbai. Air India's mainline service will maintain three daily flights to Delhi and Mumbai to address increasing passenger demand. FlyBig will sustain its regional operations to Rewa and Datia under the UDAN-RCS programme, ensuring reliable air services to lesser-connected regions.

Bhopal: Come 2026, Bhopal Airport will witness the establishment of the state's first Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facilities in India. The Rs 25 crore project is underway on 1.5 acre land. The airport's central location throughout the country provides ample growth and logistics prospects for the facility. The upcoming MRO facility at Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal will significantly enhance aircraft maintenance capabilities in Central India. "This strategic infrastructure development will create numerous employment opportunities for skilled aviation technicians and engineers in the region," said director airport, Ramji Awasthi. The facility will be equipped with modern tools and technology to service various types of commercial aircraft. It will cater to both domestic and international airlines, reducing their dependence on other MRO facilities. The project includes dedicated hangars, workshops, and specialised equipment for comprehensive aircraft maintenance. Bhopal: A civil defence drill took place at Bhopal Airport. The AAI fire brigade and CISF personnel executed rescue operations effectively while maintaining safe operations at the airport's technical building and ATC technical building and ATC tower serve as crucial operational centres for the airport. This exercise aimed to verify the continuity of safe and uninterrupted operations at these facilities during 7:30 pm to 7:42 pm, following a siren, all facilities, including outlets and offices in the terminal building, technical building, ATC tower, and the entire airport premises, had their lights switched maintained safe operations in the terminal building during the blackout, ensuring passenger comfort and operational continuity. Passengers remained calm and cooperative with CISF throughout the exercise. Airport Director Ramji Awasthi, CISF Deputy Commandant, and other officials were present in the terminal building during the blackout. Simultaneously, the ATC Incharge at the tower and CNS Incharge at the Communication Centre ensured the smooth continuation of all activities. Airport Director Awasthi expressed gratitude to the travellers for their cooperation during the drill.A Civil Defence Mock Drill was conducted at the Bhopal Railway Divisional Manager office on Wednesday. Civil Defence Inspector General Yashwant Singh Parihar headed the exercise. He initially briefed the assembled departmental staff about protocols during air attack red alerts. He also provided comprehensive details about the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
