Carlo Biado reclaims World Pool crown, becomes first Filipino to win title twice
Carlo Biado made history on Sunday as he won his second World Pool Championship title after defeating defending champion Fedor Gorst of the United States, 15-13, in the finals in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Biado became the first Filipino to win the title twice after winning his first one in 2017.
"I'm over the moon—I still can't believe I'm a two-time World Champion. It means everything to me. I'm so proud to bring this trophy home to the Philippines," Biado said as reported by the World Nineball Tour website.
Prior to the finals, Biado defeated compatriot Bernie Regalario in the semifinals.
Biado had the chance to claim his second title back in 2018, although he fell short against Germany's Joshua Filler.
Efren 'Bata' Reyes, Alex Pagulayan, Ronnie Alcano, and Francisco 'Django' Bustamante were among the previous Filipino titleholders of the said tournament.
