Pakistan's White-Ball Vice-Captain Shadab Khan Faces Lengthy Layoff Due To Shoulder Injury
Pakistan's white-ball vice-captain Shadab Khan is facing a three-month layoff because of a recurring shoulder injury that will require a surgery. A source in the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Tuesday that the PCB's medical panel has advised the leg-spin all-rounder to undergo a surgery for the chronic shoulder problem. "He is likely to fly to London for the surgery very soon and he will require at least three months rehabilitation," the source added. Shadab, one of Pakistan's most experienced white-ball players, was appointed vice-captain earlier this year and played in the recent home series against Bangladesh which Pakistan won 3-0. The source said that because of the shoulder problem, Shadab was now certain to miss out on the coming white-ball series in Bangladesh and West Indies and also a home assignment against Afghanistan. "If the Asia Cup is held in September, Shadab will also miss that event," the source said. The 26-year-old has appeared in six Tests, 70 ODIs and 112 T20 internationals and was recently also drafted in to play in the Big Bash this season.

Big claim against Guy's manager
Guy Sebastian's manager displayed a 'consciousness of guilt' when he issued false invoices to the pop star which he allegedly used to embezzle money from his client, a court has been told. Titus Emanuel Day is on trial in the NSW District Court where he has denied embezzling over $600,000 in royalties and performance fees from the Australian Idol winner. Mr Day's trial has entered its closing stages, with the jury expected to retire to consider their verdict in the coming days. The former manager to the pop star has pleaded not guilty to 34 counts of embezzlement as a clerk or servant and one count of attempting to dishonestly obtain financial advantage by deception and is fighting the allegations. During his closing address to the jury, Crown prosecutor Brett Hatfield SC said Mr Day had fabricated invoices to demand payment from Mr Sebastian. 'The fact that he went to the trouble to create these invoices that were not accurate shows that he knew that he had not honestly accounted to Mr Sebastian for the relevant transactions at the time – that he fraudulently embezzled the money,' Mr Hatfield told the court. 'And that was the reason why he would have done what he did in creating these documents to account for the transactions retrospectively.' Titus Day and Guy Sebastian before their split. 'You wouldn't make it up unless you knew what you'd done in the first place was fraudulently embezzle the money,' Mr Hatfield said. Mr Sebastian was Mr Day's long-time client and friend and followed him when he created his own agency, 6 Degrees Management, in 2009. However, they had a bitter falling out in 2017 after Mr Sebastian raised what he alleged were irregularities in his financial records. Mr Sebastian, during his evidence, told the court he was happy with Mr Day's management when he first moved into his stable. Tensions arose and his bookkeepers were forced to chase information and clarification about payments The Crown contends Mr Day failed to remit performance fees and royalties which were collected on Mr Sebastian's behalf. Credit: News Corp Australia It is alleged he embezzled performance fees, including $187,000 for supporting Taylor Swift on her 2013 tour of Australia, as well as for private weddings, a Big Bash cricket game and corporate events. Mr Day's barrister, Thomas Woods, previously told the court that money from Mr Sebastian's performance on the Taylor Swift tour was used to purchase shares on his behalf. Mr Sebastian, in his evidence, described the claims as 'completely fabricated' and a 'complete lie'. Mr Day, through his legal team, has denied he did anything criminal, dishonest and fraudulent. Mr Day told the court that issues had begun to 'creep in' to his management company as a result of pressure sparked by his mother's declining health around 2016. 'My accounting slipped, I wasn't able to send statements or invoices … I made mistakes in transactions and banking descriptions,' Mr Day previously said. Mr Day's defence is expected to begin their closing submissions on Tuesday.

The BBL franchise has confirmed it will open its summer with back-to-back home games at GMHBA Stadium. Games will be played on Monday, December 15 and Sunday, December 21 with local supporters hoping they will be able to see local prospect Ollie Peake in action. Peake made his debut for the Renegades last summer and scored 19 against the Brisbane Heat. He has now signed his first full-time contract with the club after joining as a replacement player last season. 'It's a really special feeling to sign my first full Big Bash contract with the Renegades,' Peake said. 'Getting the chance to debut last summer was a great experience, it gave me a taste of cricket at the top T20 level and I'm keen to get stuck in and hopefully play more games.' Renegades general manager James Rosengarten said Peake had shown maturity beyond his years to date. 'We got a glimpse of what he's capable of during his debut last season and his performances at the Under-19 World Cup and for Victoria either side of the Big Bash,' Rosengarten said. The Renegades opponents for the December games will be confirmed later this week when the fixture is officially released. It will be the eighth time the club has played in Geelong. Rosengarten said the club had worked closely with the necessary stakeholders for a balanced set of home games between GMHBA and Marvel Stadium. 'Geelong has always been a special part of our summer schedule,' Rosengarten said. 'The support from our fans in the region has grown every season, and we're excited to deliver two huge nights of entertainment and cricket for them this year. 'These won't just be games of cricket – they'll be major events. We know how much cricket fans in the Geelong region love getting behind the Gades, and these matches will play a crucial role in setting up our season.' Kardinia Park Stadium Trust chief executive Gerard Griffin welcomed the club's return. 'We're delighted to welcome the Renegades back for another summer of Big Bash at GMHBA Stadium,' Griffin said. 'The atmosphere these games bring is fantastic – they're a real highlight on the Geelong event calendar and we're looking forward to two more big nights under lights.' Last summer, the Renegades secured a thumping win over the Hobart Hurricanes by six wickets. The Gades rolled their Tasmanian opponents for just 74 before going onto win the game. 'Excited to have Shaheen in Brisbane'
The likes of Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Shadab Khan, and Haris Rauf will be seen playing against each other during the Australian summer and thus, it is safe to say that a lot of people from Pakistan would be excited for the BBL 2025/26. As Brisbane Heat managed to pick Afridi, their head coach, Johan Botha, seemed very pleased to have the star pacer in his side. The former South African captain himself has been a part of various T20 leagues including the Pakistan Super League (PSL), and has an impressive CV as a T20 player. As a matter of fact, he has coached several franchises across the globe too. During an exclusive interview with Arvind Kalyana Krishnan during the BBL 15 Draft in Melbourne, Johan Botha expressed his excitement about getting Shaheen, and spoke about the fans and support he'll be getting along with him. The former Proteas all-rounder drew light on the prospect of all the Pakistani players playing against one another, and the amount of fan following they have. Botha stated that it was a big tick for the BBL in terms of popularising the tournament. "We've very excited (to get Shaheen Afridi). You know, I think the whole BBL now! With Babar going to Sydney, Shadab is back, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan.....I think that's a big tick for the Big Bash. "I think it'll bring a lot of interest, and especially when you have those guys play against each other, I think that will you know get crowds in through the gates and that's ultimately what it is. "It's entertainment and we're look into those match-ups. You know I've been at PSL quite a lot and it's exciting to see the best players going against each other," said Johan Botha. Shaheen Afridi has grabbed the cricketing headlines in Australia as Brisbane Heat managed to acquire his services during the recently-concluded KFC Big Bash League 15 Draft. Brisbane Heat were quick to get the pacer as he was their first pick on June 19. Post which, several other star cricketers from Pakistan were picked by various teams during the BBL 15 overseas player draft. Further on, the 43-year-old also spoke about South Africa winning the World Test Championship 2025. As a former South African cricketer and skipper himself, Botha felt that the "Rainbow Nation" winning their second ICC tournament was massive for the cricketing world. He also spoke about how some of the Proteas players still rate Test cricket very highly and want to continue playing the longest format of the game. The Temba Bavuma-led side had beaten Australia at Lord's during the WTC 2025 Final with Aiden Markram hitting a scintillating century in the fourth innings to deny the Pat Cunmins-led side their second WTC title. "South Africa winning is massive. You know, following that over the last few days obviously. A huge win for South Africa. Their rugby has done so well for a long time and it's nice to finally see the cricket guys get over the line and it's huge for cricket. "Even those guys in the team speaking about important Test cricket still is. You know when I was there and playing, you always felt that guys want to play One-day cricket to playing franchise cricket, but it's great to hear that top players still speak so highly of Test cricket and yeah, it's exciting and hopefully that you know those young guys can come through and play Test cricket for South Africa," he said.
