Playlunch Announce Second Studio Album ‘Sex Ed' And 2025 National Tour
Playlunch have followed up on the recent success of their single 'Keith' with the announcement of their second studio album, Sex Ed. The album follows on from their 2023 debut, Who's Ready For A Good Time?, and is set for release on Friday, August 22nd via ABC Music. To support the release of Sex Ed, the seven-piece 'bogan funk' Melbourne band will hit the road for a national tour in September. The full list of tour dates and ticketing information can be found below.
'We're so pumped to celebrate this new album we've worked crazy hard on for the past year,' the band said in a joint press statement announcing both the album and the Australian tour. 'It's absolutely bananas to us how much love, support and dedication our fans continue to give us, and this tour is a celebration of our commitment back to you guys. We're going to bring it.'
The band have furthermore promised fans that the Sex Ed tour will be host to 'the biggest Playlunch show you've ever seen. '[They'll be] packed full of surprises, and with the best production value we can possibly cram in' they added. 'We'll be playing a whole heap of these new tracks live for the very first time, [which] can't wait to show you, as well as all the faves from our debut album.'
Joining the band as main support for all show will be Brisbane pop duo Juno, who encountered one another for the first time while performing at last year's Bigsound in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley. '[We] couldn't have been more impressed with their show,' they added. 'Everyone is in for an absolute treat, with a night of non-stop dancing and singing across the whole lineup.'
Sex Ed was co-produced by frontman Liam Bell with Northeast Party House's Sean Kenihan throughout 2024, in-between the band touring in support of Who's Ready For A Good Time?. Three singles have been lifted from the album, with 'Station Rat' being released in August of last year and 'Boys' being released back in February. 'Keith', the album's third single, garnered the band particular attention on social media after clips of them performing it began circulating on TikTok. A music video for 'Keith, starring retired AFL veteran Barry Hall, was released online earlier this month.
