CM asks officials to expedite work on Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur bridge

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Sunday inspected the site of Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur bridge over the Ganga river and reviewed the progress of the ongoing construction work. He instructed officials concerned to complete the work at the earliest. During the inspection, road construction department secretary Sandeep Kumar R Pudakalkatti informed the CM through the site plan that approximately 60% of the construction work on the greenfield bridge, which is 5.5 km-long, has been completed. Earlier, accompanied by the senior officials, Nitish reached the bridge's construction site, travelling from Karjan (on the Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama four-lane bypass) in Athmalgola block through Kalyanpur to the banks of the Ganga river. The CM inquired in details from the officials regarding the progress and the current status of the bridge construction. Nitish asked the officials to expedite the construction work of the bridge and complete it soon. "This bridge will be crucial in facilitating connectivity between north and south Bihar, easing the movement of the general public. This bridge will serve as an alternative route for vehicles travelling from Samastipur, Muzaffarpur and Begusarai." The four-lane bridge and its approach road project is being constructed by the Bihar State Road Development Corporation at a cost of Rs 2,875.02 crore.

Kanpur: The development of the Ganga Path and riverfront spanning from Atal Ghat to Shuklaganj Bridge in the city will follow Patna's blueprint. The Bihar Road Development Corporation officials, who successfully implemented the Ganga Path in Patna, will provide guidance for this project. Following Commissioner K. Vijayendra Pandian's directives, city officials conducted a site visit to Patna on Saturday to understand the specifics of the 20-kilometre Ganga Path and gather essential insights.A proposed riverfront project includes an additional road running parallel to the VIP road along the Ganga. To examine the existing Patna model, coordinator Neeraj Srivastava, accompanied by various department officials visited the Patna Ganga Path. General manager of Bihar Road Development Corporation, Arun Kumar provided detailed information about the construction process, challenges and NGT delegation subsequently met with managing director of Bihar State Road Development Corporation, Kapil Ashok, to discuss the riverbank conditions in both cities.
