Pune: Thieves broke into Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani 's farmhouse near Pavana dam in Maval, about 60km from the city, and decamped with a TV set and Rs 50,000 in cash. The burglary came to light on Friday when Bijlani visited the farmhouse with her staff and found the window grilles broken. Senior inspector Dinesh Tayade of the Lonavla Rural police, told TOI, "Bijlani had not visited the farmhouse since March, and its isolated location near Pavana dam made it vulnerable. With no security guard on site, authorities suspect the thieves may have cased the property before breaking in over the past two days." In her complaint, Bijlani stated the the thieves made off with Rs 50,000 in cash meant for her father's emergency needs, which was kept in a cupboard. "Upon visiting the farmhouse on around 11.30am on Friday with her staff, Bijlani was shocked to see the main entrance forcibly broken. Further inspection revealed damage to household items, including the fridge and decor," Tayade said, citing the complaint. "The robbers damaged some of the cameras, but the DVR is intact. Footage recorded before the cameras were damaged is still available. Our team is reviewing this footage to establish further connections in the case," Tayade said. Bijlani's personal assistant Mujeeb Khan said the actor owned five acres of land and the bungalow, comprising more than six rooms and servant quarters, on 5,000sqft. "The burglars vandalized six CCTV cameras and used sharp weapons to cut sofa set, furniture and pillows to find out if valuables were concealed inside. The burglars also damaged electronic gadgets and fled," he said. "Police told us that the burglary was well-planned because the bungalow had remained close for a long time. The actress's father, who often visited the bungalow, did not visit it owing to his ill-health," he added.

Last Updated: Pune, Jul 19 (PTI) The Pune police investigating the theft at actor Sangeeta Bijlani's farmhouse in the Maval tehsil have recovered two fingerprints, officials said on Saturday. The farmhouse near the Pawna dam was broken into, and Rs 50,000 cash and a television set worth Rs 7,000 were allegedly stolen. The intruders also vandalised the house, according to the police. The theft and vandalism came to light when Bijlani visited the property in Tikona village on Friday, after a gap of four months. 'A forensic team collected samples from the scene. Two fingerprints have been recovered and are being analysed. It is to be seen whether the fingerprints are of the thieves or anyone accompanying Bijlaniji on Friday," said Lonavala Rural police inspector Dinesh Tayde. He added that the Digital Video Recorder (DVR) connected to the CCTV system had been deliberately disconnected. 'We have recovered the DVR, and it will be analysed to check if any footage was captured before the disconnection," Tayde said. Mohammad Mujeeb Khan, an associate of former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, submitted the complaint with Lonavala rural police on Bijlani's behalf. Khan told PTI that Bijlaniji had kept Rs 50,000 in her father's cupboard for emergencies. The money was allegedly stolen during the break-in. Police are yet to ascertain the exact date of the theft. In her complaint, Bijlani said that the main door and window grills were broken, a television set was missing, and several household items, including beds, a refrigerator, and CCTV units, had been damaged or vandalised. A team of Pune Rural Police investigating the theft at Bollywood actress Sangeeta Bijlani's bungalow has zeroed in on two suspicious fingerprints found at the crime scene. Unidentified persons burgled and vandalised Bijlani's bungalow located at Tikona Peth near Pawana dam in Maval taluka of Pune district. Mohammad Mujif Khan (54), who is a personal assistant (PA) of her ex-husband and former Indian cricket team captain Mohammad Azharuddin, lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case at Lonavala Rural Police Station on Saturday. Police inspector Ganesh Tayade on Saturday said, 'The forensic team visited the crime scene today and has found two suspicious fingerprints at the bungalow. We are probing the two fingerprints.' 'Two teams have been formed for investigation. CCTVs at the bungalow damaged. But we are checking the DVR. Theft took place sometime between 4 pm of March and 9.30 am of July 18,' Tayade said. Police said the theft came to light when Bijlani visited the bungalow on Friday morning and was shocked to see its condition. The window grills and main door were broken, while some of the furniture, electronic gadgets and the CCTV cameras were damaged. Bijlani then submitted a complaint application to Sandeep Singh Gill, the superintendent of Pune rural police. Subsequently, an FIR was lodged against the unidentified accused persons under sections 331 (3), 331(4), 305(a), 324(4), 324(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. As per the FIR, the burglars entered the bungalow by breaking the wall compound mesh on the rear side. Police suspect the burglars then broke into the bungalow by tampering with the window grills on the first floor and stole Rs 50,000 in cash and an old television worth Rs 7,000. Another television set along with beds and other items in the bungalow were damaged, police said. According to police, there was no watchman or security guard at the spot. Police said Bijlani had earlier visited the bungalow on March 7. She told the police that she could visit the place later for about four months due to her father's health problems.

The case has been registered at the Lonavla Rural Police Station , where Mohammed Mujeeb Khan, a private employee associated with Sangeeta Bijlani, lodged the formal complaint. Police confirmed to IANS that the property had been unoccupied for four months, making it an easy target for the culprits, who remain at large. A case of theft has come to light at Bollywood actor Sangeeta Bijlani's farmhouse in Maval, Pune district, a senior police official confirmed on per PTI, the incident was discovered when Bijlani visited her farmhouse, located in Tikona village near Pawna Dam, after a gap of four months. According to her statement to the Pune Rural Police, the property had been broken into and left in a state of complete alleged that the main door and window grills had been forced open. A television set was reported missing, while another was found damaged. Several household items, including beds, a refrigerator and CCTV equipment, were either stolen or vandalised, she noted in her formal complaint. In a written application addressed to the Pune Rural Superintendent of Police, Sandip Singh Gill, the actor explained she had not been able to check on the property due to her father's ill health.'Today I visited the farmhouse along with two of my maid servants. Upon arrival, I was shocked and horrified to discover that the main door had been broken. Upon entering, I found the window grills were damaged, one television set was missing while another was broken,' she stated in her further revealed that the upper floor had been completely ransacked, with all beds destroyed and various other valuables either missing or damaged.A police team has been dispatched to the site to assess the extent of the damage. 'We will register an offence once the assessment of the damage and theft is completed,' Lonavala police station's senior inspector, Dinesh Tayde told the work front, the actor was last seen on screen in the film 'Jagannath' in 1996.
