ESPN sends sad message on Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders' time in Boulder
ESPN senior director of programming and acquisitions Kurt Dargis made a somewhat sad revelation about Colorado Buffaloes football coach Deion Sanders: His first year in Boulder was the true ratings-grabber, but the Buffs' 9-4 2024 campaign didn't get nearly the same fanfare. Dargis mentioned Sanders in a question about whether or not Bill Belichick's North Carolina Tar Heels program could mirror the same monstrous ratings Colorado got during Coach Prime's first Power 4 season in 2023. Dargis sees potential for 'Chapel Bill" this fall. 'We have to wait and see. The potential is there. There's definitely interest in him outside the typical college football fan,' Dargis said during an interview with Front Office Sports, per FOS's Michael McCarthy and David Rumsey 'Deion was such a phenomenon. I still can't believe some of the numbers we got that first year he was there. It's too early to say.' Clearly, negativity sells. During a tumultuous 2023 debut for 'Prime Time,' Coach Prime's public beef with Cormani McClain took center stage. Accusations from Athlon Sports' Steve Corder that there was a 'gun culture' that season dominated the summer of 2024. The report has been scrubbed from the internet after a potential behind-the-scenes settlement, however. When CU turned it around, though? Nowhere near the same fanfare.

SEC analyst reveals expectations for Bill Belichick, UNC football in 2025
UNC has plenty to prove in its 2025 football season. Can it surpass preseason expectations? All eyes will be on the North Carolina Tar Heels in the 2025 college football season, thanks to their offseason hiring of 8-time Super Bowl Champion Bill Belichick as head coach. UNC, desperately hoping to turn itself into a consistent winning program, fired Mack Brown at the end of its 2024 season. North Carolina was linked to names like Matt Campbell and Jon Sumrall, but ultimately made a shocking hire for the first-time college coach. If anticipation and excitement alone decided a team's success, the Tar Heels would win the 2026 CFP National Championship. Expectations are mixed for UNC this fall, though. Friday morning on ESPN's popular "Get Up" show, famed journalist Paul Finebaum said his 2025 expectations for North Carolina are "very low." 'They are very low," Finebaum said. "He doesn't have a very good team, although he's in a workable league. I think he can win seven games, maybe steal one to go eight. But ladies and gentleman, this is not Deion Sanders coming back to college for a couple of obvious reasons. Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter. He doesn't have anyone like that, therefore the eyes of the nation will be there on opening night, maybe a second or third time. But it's not going to be must-see TV. As far as Bill Belichick, the end of his (NFL) career was a disaster. He didn't win a playoff games in his last five seasons. He had losing seasons three out of his last five. He was a mess at the end, he should've been fired earlier than he was. This is just trying to make good, he's trying to impress his girlfriend, he's trying to make some money and ultimately, I don't think it's going to work.' The Tar Heels shouldn't pay much attention to what an SEC guy has to say about them. Finebaum has a good point, in that UNC doesn't have a Sanders or Hunter, but there's plenty of talent between returners and the transfer portal. TCU will be a great test for North Carolina in Week 1. The Tar Heels also get Clemson, UCF, Duke and NC State, so wins may be tough to come by. Luckily, UNC has a head coach who knows how to win boatloads of games. Bill Belichick's Relationship With Jordon Hudson Raises Eyebrows — But a Surprising Ally Speaks Out
Bill Belichick's relationship with Jordon Hudson continues to be a hot-button issue in the media because of their 48-year age gap, but there are people in the football coach's inner circle who support their controversial romance. And now, they are speaking out. Belichick's career turn from his NFL career to NCAA's University of North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels has thrust him back into the spotlight — and it's been a bumpy ride so far. But receiver Jordan Shipp threw support toward his coach's love life because he claimed to ESPN that Hudson is rarely around. More from SheKnows Bradley Cooper's Friends Are Reportedly Bracing for a Major Announcement With Gigi Hadid 'Social media can promote some narrative, but that was not a distraction to us at all,' he explained on July 24. 'There was never a problem, like people saying she was running practice. We'd never really see her in the building. That was never a problem.' Shipp also noted that the college team's former coach Mack Brown, had his wife, Sally, join them for breakfast almost every day. The 73-year-old Belichick chimed in, 'I don't think Jordon's had lunch with anybody.' Still, the 24-year-old beauty queen's presence has irked some of the UNC community, particularly the alumni donors and faculty members. In early July, the Daily Mail obtained emails via a public records request and found some of the angry correspondence. Faculty member Christopher McLaughlin, a professor of Public Law and Government, wrote an email to UNC Athletics Director Bubba Cunningham to complain about the unwanted attention Hudson was drawing to the revered football program. 'When you agreed to pay a king's ransom to hire Bill Belichick, did you also know that you [were] hiring Jordon Hudson to serve as the primary face of [UNC} athletics? Normally, I would say the University should not concern itself with its employees' personal lives,' McLaughlin wrote. 'But when a prominent employee injects his significant other into the University's affairs, it becomes the University's concern. The furor began in April when Hudson interrupted her boyfriend's CBS Sunday Morning interview with Tony Dokoupil. 'We're not talking about this,' she said from off-camera when the journalist inquired about their romantic timeline. While TMZ seemed to indicate it was a meet-cute story on a plane in February 2021, Hudson and Belichick don't want to talk about it anymore. For now, Belichick's players are on his side and support the romance even if outsiders continue to question Hudson's involvement in Belichick's personal and professional life. And it sounds like the romantic drama will continue into football of SheKnows Actors Who You Forgot Have Impressive Singing Careers Too All About Conor Kennedy, RFK Jr.'s Private Son Who Was Once Linked to Taylor Swift 16 Times the Celebrity Death Rule of Threes Actually Happened Solve the daily Crossword

Early success crucial, 2025 best chance for UNC to make CFP according to CBS Sports team
Can UNC surpass preseason expectations and become a playoff team? All eyes will be on the North Carolina Tar Heels in Week 1 of the 2025 college football football season, as they welcome TCU to Kenan Stadium on Monday, September 1 at 8 p.m. for a primetime kickoff on ESPN. Not only will this highly-anticipated Labor Day matchup be a great, early-season test for UNC, it will also be the long-awaited collegiate coaching debut of Bill Belichick. North Carolina moved on from Mack Brown after its disappointing 2024 campaign, deciding to hire the 8-time Super Bowl Champion in an unexpected move. The Tar Heels have more than just a massive victory at stake. In a college football world where the ACC continues falling behind, CBS Sports' Danny Kannell said UNC needs to beat the Horned Frogs – and enjoy early-season success as a whole – on the Josh Pate College Football Show. "You know what game I think is flying under the radar, is the North Carolina-TCU game," Kannell said. "I think the ACC needs Bill Belichick and North Carolina to succeed. Belichick's not Deion Sanders, he's not the same mentality at all. It's all been about offseason distractions. One thing I do think Bill Belichick is going to bring, is eyeballs, especially on that game. If they win that game, I think it carries over. As opposed to if they lose that game, who the heck knows what could happen in Chapel Hill.' North Carolina's schedule gets slightly easier in the two weeks following its Labor Day clash with TCU. The Tar Heels will travel to Charlotte on Sept. 6, then return home to face Richmond on Sept. 13. UNC rolls to The Sunshine State on Sept. 20, playing UCF, then enters a bye week. UNC faces a home date with Clemson, the 2025 ACC favorite and a preseason College Football Playoff contender, on Oct. 4. After another bye week, North Carolina travels to California for a Friday, October 17 matchup, hosts Virginia on Oct. 25 and travels to Syracuse on Halloween. The Tar Heels host Stanford on November 8, stay in-state and travel to Wake Forest on Nov. 15, host Duke for Senior Day on Nov. 22 and travel to NC State on Nov. 29. CBS Sports' Josh Pate, in the same conversation on his radio show with Kannell, called UNC's 2025 season its best chance to compete for a National Championship. "Most people are thinking 'man, you got the Chapel Bill t-shirts printed, you better be a playoff contender," Pate said. "Ironically, this season may be their best shot, because it's the most workable schedule."" Can North Carolina surpass its preseason expectations, turning offseason dreams into that elusive championship? The Tar Heels will head into each game with a 0-0 mindset – and the hope in Chapel Hill is finally for a winning football program.
