From MAMA Win To The White House Speech: BTS' Top 10 Iconic Moments
Last Updated: The septet, comprising RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook, has broken barriers no one thought was possible for a K-pop group. BTS isn't just another K-pop band– they are a global phenomenon. From starting as underdogs over a decade ago to now being one of the most renowned musicians in the world, the seven members have come a long way. The septet, comprising RM, Jin, J-Hope, Suga, Jimin, V and Jungkook, has broken barriers no one thought was possible for a K-pop group. Before BTS reunites following a hiatus of nearly three years due to their mandatory military service, check out these 10 unforgettable moments that prove their global dominance and showcase their inspiring journey in the industry. Their First Major Win At MAMA 2016 No one could have imagined that BTS would win an award at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, let alone the title of Artist of the Year. That moment back in 2016 was a huge win for the septet. They came from a small company, worked their way to the top and finally got recognition for their hard work. First Billboard Win In 2017, BTS became the first K-pop group to win a Billboard Music Awards. They bagged the Top Social Artist honour, all thanks to their massive fandom called the ARMYs and their strong online presence. This moment proved that BTS was here to stay. Love Yourself: Tear Tops Billboard Chart BTS' sixth studio album, Love Yourself: Tear, made history as the first Korean-language album to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart in 2018. It was not just a win for the septet but for Korean music on the global stage. It proved that language is not a barrier if the music has merit. BTS At The United Nations The septet partnered with UNICEF to launch the 'Love Myself" campaign in 2018. Through it, BTS wanted to spread the message of self-love and hope. RM, the group's leader, even spoke at the United Nations, encouraging young people to believe and accept themselves. Dynamite Scores Another Major Win On Billboard Chart Dynamite is BTS' first-ever full English song. Released during the COVID-19 pandemic, it became a beacon of hope and lifted spirits during those uncertain times. The single was loved so much that the group scored their first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. First Grammy Nomination Dynamite became such a hit across the world that BTS received a nomination in the 'Best Pop Duo/Group Performance" category at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. With this, they became the first Korean pop act to be nominated for one. This was a dream come true not just for the group but also for their fans. BTS' Butter Broke Records In 2021, when BTS released their second English-language single, Butter, it once again took over the world. The song did not just debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart but stayed at the same position for 10 weeks straight. Butter even broke some major records on YouTube. BTS' Appointment As Special Presidential Envoys The South Korean government appointed BTS as a special envoy for public diplomacy in 2021. They spoke at the UN General Assembly to represent the youth and promote sustainability and inclusivity. This unique blend of entertainment and politics showcased their impact as cultural ambassadors. Chapter 2 Of BTS In 2022, BTS released Proof, a nod to their journey in the industry so far. During FESTA '22, the septet announced that they would embark on their solo careers while still remaining a group. This transition marked a significant change in BTS but, at the same time, showcased their unity. BTS' Speech At The White House In June 2022, BTS was invited to the White House to speak about anti-Asian hate and racial discrimination. They talked about the importance of inclusion and respect. It was a powerful moment, where BTS showcased how to use their platform for the greater good. As for their reunion, BTS' Jin and J-Hope are already out of their military service, RM and V will be discharged on June 10, followed by Jimin and Jungkook on June 11. Suga will reportedly complete his mandatory service on June 21. First Published:

Who are Sleep Token? The UK rock band with their first UK number 1
Prior to this weekend the name Sleep Token may not have meant anything to you, but now you'd be hard-pressed not to know the UK rock band sweeping the charts in surprising measures. The UK group have made history with their new album Even in Arcadia, which hit the number one spot in the UK and has topped the US Billboard Chart. Sleep Token have an air of mystery about them perpetuated by the fact they are masked at all times, even when they perform live. Here is everything that you need to know about the group and who they are. Sleep Token officially have two members known as Vessel and II, the group's leader singer and drummer, they are the only two to be given songwriting credits in the band. The group also have a series of touring members, who are also masked on stage and whose identities have remained anonymous. The touring members are known as III (bass guitar), IV (lead guitar and backing vocals), and Espera (backing vocal trio). Sleep Token debuted in 2016 with their first single Thread the Needle, which was followed by their debut album One. The group went on to release a second EP titled Two in July 2017 after they signed with record label Basick Records. The group signed with Universal's Spinefarm records in 2019, and they went on to release their debut full-length album Sundowning in November that year. They have since signed with RCA Records and released albums Take Me Back to Eden before launching Even in Arcadia in May 2025. The group have declared themselves as acolytes to an entity known as Sleep, which is why they are called Sleep Token. The band have spoken often about sharing "His message" with their fans. Sleep Token pride themselves on their anonymity, and have done very few interviews to ensure that their identities remain a mystery. The group's lead singer Vessel spoke with Metal Hammer in May 2017, one of the band's only interviews to date, where he spoke about the reason behind the group's anonymity. "Our identities are unimportant," Vessel told the publication: "Music is marketed on who is or isn't in a band; it's pushed. prodded and moulded into something it isn't. Vessel endeavours to keep the focus on His offerings.' Vessel also said: "How we got here is as irrelevant as who we are – what matters is the music and the message. We are here to serve Sleep and project His message." The publication asked Vessel if he was worried that the band being masked would be seen as a "gimmick" by music fans. To this, Vessel said: "The standard concept of gimmickry is none of our concern. We are here to deliver a message; touch people in their hearts and subconscious minds. Soon, regardless of cynicism, you will all be followers."

Lorde Watched Pamela Anderson & Tommy Lee's Sex Tape After a Psychedelic Trip: ‘I Found It to Be So Beautiful'
Wait, what was that? Lorde made an interesting revelation in her Rolling Stone cover story published Thursday (May 15), revealing that she once watched Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's famous sex tape after taking psychedelics. In the wide-reaching interview, the New Zealand singer-songwriter opened up about everything from struggling with an eating disorder to dealing with a breakup after a yearslong relationship. One of the ways she ultimately healed after those struggles was through therapeutic psychedelic trips, as referenced in her April single 'What Was That,' on which she sings, 'MDMA in the back garden, blow our pupils up.' But what she saw stuck with her. 'I found it to be so beautiful,' the musician told the publication. 'And maybe it's f–ked up that I watched it, but I saw two people that were so in love with each other, and there was this purity. They were jumping off this big boat … They were like children.' The tape Lorde was referring to was filmed in 1995 on Anderson and Lee's honeymoon, which they celebrated in Mexico after getting married just 96 hours into knowing each other. The intimate footage was later stolen and sold, embroiling the couple — who divorced in 1998 — in scandal. Noting that she watched the entire tape, Lorde said of the exes, 'They were so free.' 'And I just was like, 'Whoa. Being this free comes with danger,'' she added. The interview comes more than a month ahead of Lorde's new album Virgin, which drops June 27. So far, the only taste fans have gotten of the LP has been 'What Was That,' although the musician opened up more about the record — which she describes as visceral and rooted in bodily imagery — in her Rolling Stone interview. 'I think coming more into my body, I came into an understanding of the grotesque nature of it and the glory and all these things,' she explained. '[The album's] right on the edge of gross. I often really tried to hit this kind of gnarliness or grossness. 'You tasted my underwear.' I've never heard that in a song, you know? It felt like the right way to tell this whole chapter.'
