Sam Faiers faces backlash over controversial comment about sunscreen
Sam Faiers has been hit with backlash over controversial comments she made about sunscreen, admitting her children never wear sun cream as they 'have built up a really good tolerance to being in the sun' Sam Faiers has come under fire for controversial comments she made about sun cream. The reality star took to social media to reveal she doesn't get her children to wear sun cream. The former TOWIE star explained that her kids have "built up a really good tolerance to being in the sun" as she made wild claims about sunscreen having "pretty harmful and full of toxic ingredients" in, which has been discredited by a skin doctor. In a lengthy post shared on social media, she wrote: "So this is always a bit of a controversial one, but honestly, me and my whole family don't actually wear sunscreen. Over the years, the kids have built up a really good tolerance to being in the sun. "Of course if it's really hot and the sun feels too harsh I'll make sure we head into the shade... usually around lunchtime we'll go in, have something to eat and just avoid those peak hours." Her comments come after she and sister Billie made a huge announcement. She then went on to add: "I'm really careful about sunscreen in general, because a lot of them are actually pretty harmful and full of toxic ingredients. If you do want to protect your kids, I think SPF swimwear is such a good and safer option. "But also, don't be afraid of the sun! Early in the morning or later in the afternoon when it's not as strong, I love letting the kids run around and soak it up, it's good for them. That said, I do always bring a Tallow Zinc SPF with me when I go away, just in case. And hats or caps are a must! Especially for us ladies because no one wants extra sun damage." The comments have now been heavily criticised by a skin doctor. Skin cancer prevention doctor Ross Perry told the Daily Mail: "It is a well-known fact that children if they get any degree of sunburn as a child it more than doubles their risk of getting skin cancer at a later date so that is completely false and misleading. "Children do not build up a tolerance to sun exposure. I would totally advocate the use of sun protective clothing as a alternative for those who do not tolerate sun cream being regularly applied, especially for children regularly in and out of the water, but they will only cover certain areas so an SPF is still required. "It is misleading to say that children need to have sunlight in order to promote their health as they will absorb more than enough sunlight through day-to-day activities rather as an over exposure or potential sunburn on holidays."

Billie Eilish's Comments About It Being 'Really Cool' To Be Surrounded By People Who Look 'Exactly Like' Her In Ireland Were Taken Completely Out Of Context
On Monday, Billie Eilish was causing a stir on social media after an eyebrow-raising clip from one of her recent Dublin concerts emerged online. For reference, the 23-year-old star is currently in the midst of her Hit Me Hard and Soft world tour, which kicked off back in September. And on Saturday, the show arrived in Ireland for two dates at Dublin's 3Arena venue — and American-born Billie was excited to be in the Emerald Isle due to her Irish ancestry. However, a comment that the singer made at one of her weekend shows sparked backlash when it was later shared to X. Related: In the clip, Billie tells the cheering crowd: 'As you know, I'm Irish, so it's cool to be here.' 'Obviously I'm not from here, duh,' she went on. 'But it's really cool to come somewhere and everybody looks exactly like you.' TikTok @@ / Via Related: The video has already been seen more than 33 million times since it was posted just one day ago, with tens of thousands of people quick to share their reactions in the replies and quote tweets. Needless to say, there were a few jokes that instantly went viral, with one quote-tweet quipping: 'y'all got white people dressed like Fat Joe in ireland?' However, others had a more concerning interpretation of Billie's comments, and one tweet that has been liked more than 172,000 times at the time of writing reads: 'Everyone here is white like me.' Another popular tweet echoed: 'crazy fucking statement to make as a fucking white woman.' And one more claimed: 'Billie really said 'wow that's a lot of white people, i like it here!'' Related: But it turns out that this hugely viral clip was actually taken completely out of context, with the video cutting just before Billie drops the punchline to what was obviously a self-deprecating joke related to stereotypes around Irish people. In the full video, Billie is poking fun at how pale she is, with her entire quote actually being: 'It's really cool to come somewhere and everybody looks exactly like you... You're all just as pasty as me!' Fans of Billie will know that she often jokes about how pale she is — something that she even referenced during her 2021 Saturday Night Live monologue, where she quipped: "I know I look like I've been locked in a basement for 17 years.' Related: And during her appearance on Hot Ones, she confessed: 'I'm so pale that you can literally see every vein in my body when I get hot.' Replying to the full video, one person admitted: 'I do agree that the sentence on its own sounds dumb as hell, but context matters.' Billie Eilish accused of racism over Irish heritage remarks at Dublin concert; fans say 'can no longer defend her'
Billie Eilish is catching heat online after commenting on her Irish heritage during her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour stop in Dublin on Saturday, July 26. The 23-year-old singer was performing at the 3Arena when she spoke about how at home she felt among the Irish crowd, referencing their shared complexion and ancestry. While many fans in the venue took it as a sweet and relatable moment, a wave of criticism online has painted it in a very different light. What Billie Eilish said on stage During a short break in her set, Billie addressed the crowd with excitement and gratitude. 'As you guys know, I'm Irish, so it's cool to be here,' she said. 'Obviously, I am not from here, but it's really cool to come somewhere and, like, everybody looks exactly like you, and you're all just as pasty as me. I love it.' She went on to say, 'Seriously though, it's so amazing. It just makes me feel so seen… Also, like, a thousand of my relatives are in the crowd right now, I'm pretty sure. Thank you for coming. Thank you for having me here. I love it here. It's so beautiful, and you are all so beautiful, and I see so many familiar faces out there.' Billie Eilish celebrates return to Irish homeland. "It's really cool to come somewhere and everyone looks exactly like you". Fans on X are divided The internet wasn't entirely on board. While some fans saw her comments as innocent and self-deprecating, others on X (formerly Twitter) accused the singer of veering into xenophobic territory. One person wrote, 'Crazy statement to make as a white woman.' crazy fucking statement to make as a fucking white woman 💀 "Oh alright, first Billie confirms that her "queer persona" was just an act to sell sales by dating a man. DURING PRIDE MONTH might I add (which she hasn't apologised for yet, btw)!! and now she's saying dumb things like this. I don't know how much longer I can defend her," a second added. Oh alright, first billie confirms that her "queer persona" was just an act to sell sales by dating a man, DURING PRIDE MONTH might I add (which she hasn't apologized for yet btw!!) and now she's saying dumb things like this. I don't know how much longer I can defend her. 'Do white people hear themselves when they speak?' another said, echoing the frustration. "Why is she acting like there's a shortage of whites in the United States?" one person said. why is she acting like there's a shortage of whites in the united states? Billie has spoken about her Irish heritage before This isn't the first time Eilish has opened up about her roots. Earlier in July, she told Today FM that she grew up hearing she was Irish and Scottish but didn't really feel a connection to that part of her background until visiting Ireland. She described the experience as 'really cool' and said it helped her better understand that side of her identity. Her tour continues across Europe Despite the backlash, Billie's Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour is going strong. The European leg has been packed with sold-out shows, emotional fan moments, and surprise setlist switches. The tour is a companion piece to her critically acclaimed 2024 album of the same name, She'll continue to perform across the UK and mainland Europe through August before heading back to North America later this year. While social media debates her choice of words, the crowds at her shows don't seem to be going anywhere.

She said: 'This venue is very different to all the other venues I've played on this tour. Usually there's a crowd all over there and I'm in the centre of the room and so it's very different and fun to have you all on my right side. It's awesome!'
